in austria it is forbidden for gay people to:
marriage,
have a official relationship (in front of the law of course),
adopt children,
in vitro fertilisation for lesbian women,
to inherit from the gay partner,
no legal right to the entering the lease during lifetimes,
gay partnership is not considered with income tax,
they are disadvantaged in civil proceedings
that are only the things i knew….

And IF I were to get married it would be for children. I think it's better for a child to have two parents working together. Kids are a pain in the ass to raise alone. I've known ppl that have done it and have done a fine job. But if the "other" in the relationship would've pulled their weight it would've made it easier. And it shows a commitment to your partner I suppose.

And, the church is not being forced into anything if gays were allowed to marry nor are schools. Do all straight marriages take place in a church? NO, they do not. Many gay marriages will take place in churchs because there are many gay and lesbian citizens who are also members of communitites of faith, but no gay marriages will take place in churchs where the union is ordained by the theology of the congragation.

However, I read all these posts, I see the outpouring of support for your community. I clicked on my state (MO), to see how many were involved in rallies around MO. It was pretty amazing, I just cried this really matters. I feel guilty not supporting equal rights for the lgbt community, especially if it is not a choice you make to be gay. So, I feel torn between the word, and my personal feelings of guilt for not allowing you happiness. That being said, I would support you in your quest for happiness. I am not your judge, God is.

Re: Mondschein – You should educate yourself a litle bit more about gays in AmeriCa-in most of the 50 states, it's the exact same as Australia. Gays are second class citizens in much of the free world.
