I posted a blog last week that angered some people who didn't know how to read properly, I then wasted my own time defending myself and now I regret that.
There is a fine line that distinguishes the difference between exercising our freedom of expression and offending others, for example the debate regarding freedom of speech vs. hate speech…. i feel that this principle should apply to protestors also. It's a pity that some groups feel the need to assault people as opposed to fighting with words.
Whenever I feel the need to vent about something that feels unfair to me I reach for my computer, I don't run out of the house with abusive intentions. I don't expect everyone to react the same way, but I do expect people to respect each other. Maybe that's my first mistake? It seems lately I am learning that there are too many people who put another species before their fellow man and that's sad. I don't wear fur, but I don't think I have the right to ATTACK those who do. No one has that right.
PETA should focus their efforts on educating people on what they believe are injustices instead of seeking press via harassing those in the limelight. I received an apology too many days late from the PETA folks (the blog removal was too little too late) and today I'm pissed at the bag of flour thrown on Lindsay last night. Not because I got powdered down, but because the girl who threw it acted like an animal herself. I take that back, it's an insult to animals to group her in with them, my dog is FAR more civilized than that person. I would have more respect for them if they didn't use other people to get their point across. Lindsay, Mary Kate, Ashley Olsen, Anna Wintour and the rest of the targeted celebrities aren't the problem, I'm pretty sure they're not the only ones wearing fur, in fact, they should be appreciated by PETA for giving them a target. If it weren't for them, who would get them press?????
I know I'm probably going to get a lot of angry emails in response, but I don't really care. I got enough last week for no reason so I'm more than happy to ignore the nastiness after seeing what I saw last night. I'm not about to throw on a fur coat in retaliation, but had I had one within reach, I'm not sure I would have walked away from it.
p.s. when was the last time you saw an animal attack one of its own in defense of a human? hmmmmm….. that's one to grow on!
p.s.s. i think there are plenty of families that could have used that flour for a meal. nice job, lady.

In 1970 I was in London at a street market. I spied an ancient tiger skin rug from the "days of the Raj" for only $100. They wouldn't sell it to me because I was an American and tigers were/are endangered and to display a tiger skin rug would create envy and a market for such. So even vintage pelts and skins are not "fair game" in this world. Don't beat up the messenger. Sometimes you have hit vapid ho's over the head to get the message across. Lindsay should wear fake fur; it's more in keeping with her persona.

I am an animal activist, so I could easily agree with Peta for that one reason, but I don't. I think that she threw down some pretty solid points. It seems Peta is trying to get media attention, and throwing flour is not the way to do it. If they want people to really follow them, they need every message they throw out, to be positive. I don't go around throwing stuff on animals that have in the past killed people. I don't agree with what Saman said about animals not protecting people. Point 1: Animals are skinned while still alive, they are left with portion of their fur skinned off, kept in small cages filled with feces, not fed, placed on rape racks and forcibly inseminated, and then ultimately either shot or gased.

Point 2: The right to live a life without pain or suffering, to have some measure of happiness, to not be faced with cruelty - should be a fundamental right shared by all, no matter what species. It is truly unfortunate that Samantha Ronson feels that it has to be only the gay and lesbian community (as I'm sure she has no idea what it means to be queer) that receives those rights.
Point 3: Lindsay Lohan was not harmed, and quite frankly it should have served as a wake up call for her. She is wearing the skin of a creature that did not give it willing. Secondly she is not the sort of person that would respond to requests for conversations with animal rights groups, or for that matter I highly doubt she would even understand what they were saying.
Point 4: I am sure in many respects both Ronson and Lohan are quite pleased over this event, mainly because of the lack of atttention they have received lately due to their complete and total lack of talent.

How would she like to have her skin stripped from her body? Instead of slamming PETA she should watch some of their efforts on video to save animals, this is just another way to raise awareness, you live in the limelight, set an example, if people don't buy fur then the industry will die and thousands of animals will be live… These Loser's have lost touch with reality.
I would also like to comment to all of you that believe those who wear leather are not targeted - determining leather (animal skin) from faux leather is by far harder to determine. I would also like to comment to people that if you happen to see a jacket that say the fur portion is fake but was made in China, it is DOG FUR and most definitely not fake fur.
I would also like to say that in many respects yes, over the years PETA has lost sight of what truly matters, however I think if animal rights (and the rights of all) can be kept in the public eye, the better chance of change for the better we have.
To further this comment, people please stop pretending you care about human rights or even the environment when you don't care about the welfare of animals. We are all interconnected and what happens to one is indicative of what will happen to all. When it takes 50 gallons of water to process one pound of hamburger or migrant workers who receive no aid are forced to work in such places to feed their families - it shows how it is a cylce of cruelty that won't end until we attempt to stop cruelty and inhumanity all together, not just for humans, not just for the earth, and not just for animals BUT EVERYONE.
I have a lot to say, however, i will keep it simple because I am one of the last to post.
