OBAMA did not fail you. The people of California who voted "YES" are to blame as well as the "Vote No" campaign, which did not reach out to the black/latino churches, where it was needed most. The campaign was also launched so late in the election year that it got lost between the presidential race and the cost of Sarah Palin's clothes.
This IS NOT the time for gays to be hanging rainbow flags in the military. Keep in mind, gay bashing is done right here on the homefront — and being abroad in the military doesn't mean you're surrounded by peace loving Americans. The military is home to gaybashers, murders and gentleman of fine lineage all with the licence to kill.

Perez, I hope you understand that under the Defense Of Marriage Act (which is actually unconstitutional because it violates Article IV sec I- where states are supposed to uphold all other states' laws; DOMA says that states do not have to uphold other states' laws on gay marriage) signed by BILL CLINTON, Barack Obama has NO control over gay marriage. The supreme Court has that power. They are the only ones that have the power to strike down DOMA unconstitutional, but since they're extremely conservative, they have refused to hear cases on gay marriage. STOP BLAMING BARACK. He has no control over that aspect. He cannot force the supreme court justices to hear those cases.

How can he have 'failed' you on gay marriage? From my understanding of the American political system, gay marriage is a state by state issue - hence Prop 8 only being in California. If anyone has failed you on gay marriage, it is the people in California who voted for Prop 8.
Besides, Obama is not even in office yet - he won't be until January 20th. Therefore he hasn't made any decisions. I'm Australian and I understand this. WHY DON'T YOU?

I have to respond to this one. As President, Obama will have a lot of challenges–duh–and he can't fix or correct them all, and not overnight. As many expressed, he has no executive power yet.
And we expect miracles with all the terrible problems we have right now, we'll be sorely disappointed as time progresses.
Wake up. Everyone's got to keep talking and discussing the issues, staying aware and involved, so we can continue to make change. We also have to remember it won't happen overnight.
Prop 8/Amendment 1 in FL were a heartbreak on a beautiful day. It SUCKED and I'm disappointed as well. But it won't help matters if we're already attacking Obama.
