Twilight has clinched this weekend's #1 box office spot in Uh-me-ri-ca!
Friday's estimates of a $70 million debut turned out to be right on target.
Congrats to creator Stephanie Meyer and breakout star Robert Pattinson!
As we mentioned on Saturday, there's already a sequel in the works, which was announced this weekend.
Last weekend's big film, Quantum of Solace, came in at #2 this weekend. The 007 film made another $27 million. Its US 2 week total is an impressive $109 million. Not bad!
And, rounding out the top three is Disney's animated feature, Bolt.
The doggie-centric flick 'only' made the Mouse $27 million. A Disney movie not opening at one is not normal!

Yay! it's so sad that i have watched this movie twice i have no life! I personally couldn't have asked for a better Edward no doubt about it because Rob is him and the chemistry between him and Kristin off the charts all i could've have asked for was more Cullen family scenes

I went to see Twilight twice and I loved it even more the 2nd time, Robert is sucha hottie!
Saw Twilight 3 times in as many days. It was awesome and just gets better every time you see it! The music in it was fantastic, I can't believe people didn't like that. I thought the music made the movie better. And of course, Rob Pattinson's "better than the book" portrayal of Edward. Kristen was the perfect Bella too! To all you haters out there…

Re: tfytrish – It's actually just the opposite. For people who had not read the book, the movie does not make much sense. It is lacking the build up of Edward and Bella's relationship, and when they are all of a sudden in love in the movie, it seems like it came out of nowhere.
Also, the famous line "So the lion fell in love with the lamb" was said, but was missing the previous conversation that the book had that would have made the line make sense.
A movie should be able to stand on its own, even if it is based on a book. And Twilight just did not do that!
twilight was awful. the acting was less than stellar and the music/editing was off the whole movie. people were laughing when it was supposed to be serious. love how now all of the sudden everyone has claims to read the book. get over it. you didn't read the books, so don't pretend. you saw the movie because you have a crush on cullen (who isn't even good looking, seriously?). this is a joke. it's going to crash next week. won't even be a blip.
Kristin is beautiful and not cheesy and she has depth. That's all for now.

Okay I'm just saying I'm disappointed. It wasn't just the fact that the movie and the book were different. No movie will ever be like the book I get that completely. My expectations were more on the lines of how the movies story would be told. This isn't acting bashing so don't take what I'm going to say like that. The side characters were a lot better then the leads. They were too intense in certain parts making things over acted or exaggerated. I feel it was to fluffy and teeny of material for Stewart and Pattinson to play. Seeing the trailers for Adventureland and How to be… it just seems that they are pretty good in those movies. Twilight just was too strained. I feel like I'm rambling so on that note I'm done. I wish I could really love this movie, but it won't happen… Hopefully New Moon will be better.
I have already seen Twilight 2 times this weekend, and I plan on seeing it many more times before it closes. Robert Pattinson is SO gorgeous and so talanted and the movie was TERRIFIC!!!!!! I have been a fan of the book series for a long time so I am very glad to not be dissapointed!

I'm pretty psyched that they will make New Moon now but I truly hope they don't miss the mark with this one. I was a little disappointed in the rushed feeling of Twilight. I enjoyed it more the 2nd time but it's still "lacking" something in the way of character development. Crossing my fingers for New Moon!

This is just my opinion but…this film is still a hollywood rapist of people who are faithful and personal to the book.
However, I did like the fact that they while they were filming they let random everyday people watch them on set. I bet you that's all going to change. Soon the cast are going to build their arrogant fences and bridges between fans and their Hollywood stardom.
I saw it!! But some parts were like really stupid and I was actually laughing, and it was so weird when Stephanie Meyer was in the diner!! But other than that it was good, rob and jackson rathbone are BEAUTIFUL! and some of his songs were actually put in the movie.

But I agree with getting a better leading lady. Preferably someone who has wider emotional ranges. I really don't think she played Bella that well. Kristin was too…agressive. Not timid or unconfident enough.

As a HUGE fan of the Twilight books I have to say the movie was the biggest let down. I read all four Twilight books in about 2 weeks if not less and when I found out they were making the first book into a movie I was more than excited. I waited for months in anticipation. I can not believe the way this movie totally butchered this story. This movie didn’t have any kind of flow to it and it was to quick paced. This movie was in no way supposed to be a comedy but I found myself as well as many other movie goers laughing uncontrollably during certain scenes in this movie because they were that ridiculous and cheesy. I am really glad I had read the book before seeing this movie otherwise I wouldn’t have had any idea what was really going on. I feel sorry for anyone who went to see this movie not knowing anything of this story. When I left the theatre I found myself saying “What did I just see?” This movies only saving grace was Robert Pattinson. At least I could drool over him for 2 hours. I do have to say that Pattinson did a pretty good job of playing the role of Edward Cullen given the material he was given to work with. Anyway, I recommend you wait to see this in the dollar theatre or rent it if you really must see it. Otherwise I say you avoid it all together.

Twilight is not an epic novel, it is a teenage love story with supernatural elements. People are overanalyzing what it is and what they think it should be. TEENAGE LOVE STORY!!! Get it through your thick skulls. I've seen it twice already and I think it is perfect. Robert is amazing as Edward and I think Kristen did a pretty good job. The movie is awesome and people are being way too critical and judgemental. Get over it!

I saw Twilight, thought it was fun and that it's a movie you shouldn't overthink-just enjoy the ride, ladies! Just enjoy the ride…..I thought Robert and Kristen in particular had mad chemistry though…wow, did they heat up the theater with that kiss or what???
Ps: Stop hating on Kristen, she was amazing. She anchored the film perfectly and can express so much with the smallest facial expressions. And I loved Robert's Edward-he was like full of demons, it was hot! It was a like a great mix of James Dean from Rebel Without a Cause and the Exorcist!!

Bolt didn't make number one because some idiot decided to schedual the premier on the same day as Twilight. That was probably the stupidest idea they've ever had.
Obviously other people don't agree, but this was the worst movie I ever sat through. Special effects were from at least 15 years ago, characters were all vacuous, the "score" consisted of about 4 bars of music, played over and over throughout the movie. I could go on and on about this- major let down. And accept for his face, Rob isn't even hot- look at his legs, he clearly doesn't work out and he walks funny.

You know, if you took the time out to actually open a book, instead of sitting at a computer all day posting shit about stuff you don't know shit about, maybe you'd learn a thing a thing or two. Stephenie Meyer did a very well job with building up characters. I personally think the movie sucked, because they took way too much of the book out. But you know what? Twilight is litterature, and Stephenie Meyer did a hell of a lot better writing it then you ever could. Get over yourself, and give up. Twilight isn't going away. It's a success, and the next three movies are already sheduled to be put out, so Twilight will be here to stay. So, don't hold your breath.

I saw it…I'd give a 2 stars…the acting was laughable at times…the cinematography was good…Forks was how I pictured it. There were many times I asked myself if it felt this cheesy when I was reading the book. Rob Patterson stole the movie…I hope the 2nd film is better…it can't be any worse.

It was so much better than I could have possibly imagined. I sat in the theater amazed at Rob's dreamy-ness!! I could live on that alone…hummmmmm. Dramatic, I know, but he is the hottest, humblest…ever!!! I am taking a huge group of friends to see it again next weekend, twice!
Awesome awesome awesome!!! I saw it twice! It wasn't nearly as crowded as I thought it was going to be. Overall I thought they did a great job. A few scenes were added that weren't in the book and a couple scenes I wanted to see were not as good as I expected, but it was still really good. I will be seeing it again this weekend over the holidays! I hope everyone else enjoyed it as well.

I saw it twice this weekend. I don't know that I loved the movie but I did like it a lot…I love Robert Pattinson. If you haven't read the book you might not be able to follow the quick moving story line, but you can just focus on how hot Robert is and that should keep you entertained.
I'm excited for the second movie…even though I'm sure I'll be waiting a year or so.
