Her voice was off because the track was off. Maybe if singers like Christina would worry about SINGING and not so much about dancing around in goofy contrived dance routines, she wouldn't have to worry about trying to be Lady GaGa.

Ummmm By the way, if you weren't aware… Christina was doing the "edgy blond crazy hair-do push the envelope" thing long before Lady Gaga was so if anyone is the copycat its GaGa. I Love them both but I don't know where this hostility is coming from, Christina is one of the ONLY artists out there who can actually belt out her own songs without having any help EVERY time.

Are you all Mentally handicapped? That performance was awesome! i was there and her vocals were spot on. Everyone lip-sync esp when doing tat sort of set she did and it was fantastic. An awesome opener And one of her best televised performances yet….

She may have been sick but it's her breath support affecting her voice, If you watch you can see that she doesn't have the power to reach her high notes nor hold her long notes.
Listen. First of all, I could have done without all of the dancing she did. People don't know Christina for her dance moves. She was stiff… and often behind the beat. Her voice was sub-par… probably because she was focusing on dancing…. not important. It was basically a hot mess. I was not entertained…. OH and, what the hell was up with her forgetting the words completely to Genie? I was shaken by this performance… and not for any good reasons. Get it together girl. Get it together. —- oh, and I'm ok with her stealing lady gaga's image… I think that if she has the balls to sit in front of a camera with the same hairstyle, makeup, clothes, and music as LadyG, and tell everyone that she isn't copying her, but that she is just trying to make "pop-art music"… then… Kudos christina. Kudos. Stealing is not only addicting, but its fun too, and really, … it requires more work than being original.

It sounds to me like she is sick. If you listen her voice went out in a few parts of that video. I have been sick also and my voice would come and go there would be no way i could get up there and sing with a clear voice. Also the back up singers sounds like their mics are turned up alot louder then hers.

Christina is The Best. That performance was insane… she was working her ass off up on that stage– 7 songs in 7 minutes… it's quite ambitious but if anyone could pull if off it's Christina, and she more than pulled it off. Maybe she wasn't feeling good, she did sound a bit scratchy –( it is flu season after all). BUT WHATEVER, she rocked it no matter WHAT any of you brainless haters say.

Listen. I love me some Christina. I've bought all of her albums, and some of her merchandise throughout the years. Therefore, I am entitled to call a s*** performance when I see one. I expect more out of her. Yes, its obvious she wasn't feeling good ( for unknown reasons I might add), but that still doesn't account for her forgetting the words, having terrible arrangements for this performance and other things that made it lame. Lets not forget that she has been performing professionally 10+years… She's a vet. She should have done better. All Im saying.
seems like she started alright in the beginning, then ran out of breath wafter the dancing, and couldn't belt out what she normally belts out when she's still. i dunno. she still sounds better than most artists doing live performances.

In the first minute it's because she's singing Beautiful to what seems like a different tune, and she's over singing it at the same time which makes it very strange and oh so WRONG!

I thought the shoulder padding she wore in the beginning with her leotard looked awful like the same getup Lady G. wore in the chorus part of her video 'Poker Face'. But Lady G. still don't hold a flame to Christinia.

First of all, how can you compare to Lady Gaga? LoL. Sorry, BUT I saw Lady Gaga live and she was out of breath about half through every song. And I love her song "Just Dance" so it's not like I dislike her.
I think if Christina was gonna copy anyone..it would NOT be Lady Gaga. She isn't even that big yet. Why would Christina have to copy HER?
But anyway, I though Christina sounded good at the AMA's. I agree that the backing track threw things off a little and the medly could have been better put together. And yes she did look like a hit mess. I mean what was that hair?!? Those freakin' bangs?!? But then again….look at Rihanna…what was she? A PIRATE? Love your music Rihanna!!! But that hair. sooooo needs to go!!!!
she started off key and improvised what some would call WAY 2 MUCH. she was trying to show off with vocal gymnastics and ended up being boring and sucky

ok for one, maybe she Was sick does anyone realize what happens to your voice singing like that strong over and over again? and 2 shes not like britney spears who lipsynchs all her shows she actually sings you try dancing and doin all that dancing and still try to sound perfect i thought she did a good job on this performance think about it?….Her usual performance she dosen't dance or move around a lot this performance was fast paced i feel like people need to be payin closer attention to something else this was useless info and so dumb!

It seems to me that all the songs last night were in a lower key than she usually sings them. And certain songs she was singing all the lows while the back-ups sang the highs. Maybe she was sick… or maybe just savin her voice. Either way, the best thing about her voice is how amazing she sounds when she F'in belts it.
She's a A-class performer. I'm sure there was some reasoning behind it.

christina's got an amazingly powerful voice, which can be grating if unrestrained. i mean come on, it's a live show, the adrenaline gets pumping, it's easy to lose yourself.

Better performance than any Britney has done of late. Going by what I know it's all about how the act makes you feel. Christina's medley had me bopping away and feeling good….About her voice being off, she sounded pretty good to me, but did watch it on the net with not the best sound quality. Still could tell she was sing live. I though she did great. You get up and try and dance energetically and not have it effect your vocals. Maybe the sound engineering was off. Any number of things could effect the locals and sound. Love both Christian and Britney but Aguilera's performance on an off night still kick butt over Britney's latest attempts…But kudos to Britney for coming back from the brink of madness…
YES her voice sound different and the back up singers mic was too high but she still did great
