Kudos to Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Cindy Lederman for standing up for equality for all!
On Tuesday, Judge Lederman ruled against a Florida law banning adoptions of children by gay people.
Floridian Martin Gill came before her to fight for the right to adopt two young brothers he has cared for as foster children since 2004.
She ruled in Mr. Gill’s favor and stated that there was “no rational basis” for prohibiting gays from adopting children.
Florida has one of the strictest bans on gay adoptions in the country.
Attorneys for the state said they would appeal Judge Lederman’s ruling.
The AP reports that the appeal will ultimately decide what happens to the state ban in place since 1977.
Floridians for equal rights, put pressure on your state lawmakers to once and for all overturn the ban on gay adoption!!!!!!
