it really wasn't that good. she was pitchy the whole time. not that i'm saying she's a bad singer, but this isn't her greatest (her voice in the the song "On The Line" w/ the Jo Bros is awesome). and as much as I hate Miley Cyrus, her voice isn't really that bad. she's better than alot of people (like Cassie and Rihanna). and honestly she's sounded way better than Demi Lovato in this video.

i thought it was great. gave me chills. i can't believe people are throwing her into the 'typical disney girl' category. i'm sorry, but this girl actually has a voice. there is no way i would compare her that hudgens or tisdale girl. i think she did great. for her age, a very amazing performance. she seemed nervous but still sung through it. good for her.
its funny that people are either like "that was horrible!!!" or people are like "that was amazing!!" i mean for someone to think that from this, she can't sing at all, there must be something wrong with you. even if you think it was a bit over the top, there is no way you could come up with the conclusion that she can't sing. the girl definitely has a voice and i applaud that. she is definitely something new to the disney child star scene, which seems to be filled with untalented singers now a days.
I love people hating on Disney, when Disney makes the most hits (movies) and everyone remembers the disney stars (Shia, Lindsay, Britney, Justin, Xtina, Zac Efron, Hilary Duff, Alyson Stoner, etc) Don't get me started on people who got their start in Disney movies. Disney is a good company and is good for teens to get their start because it provides a good family. Just because some of the Disney stars are druggies (lindsay), that isn't because of the Disney. Lindsay has a fucked up family and dude she comes from Long Island, what do you expect? Anyway, I think both Miley and Demi have their attributes and Demi is the superior singer, but they are friends so this hate is kind of unnecessary. If you didn't like the song, don't listen to and write a nasty comment. No one wants to hear that.

Not bad for her age but she is a loooong way from being good. She's got the pipes, just needs to work on pitch. And another thing, I absolutely HATE when people do voice rifts during the National Anthem especially when they don't have the right talent for it. There are very few people who can get away with it and she ain't one of 'em.
I like both of em' They are both talented in their own way (as cliche as that is) but I perfer Miley a little bit more.
She is a beautiful young lady and has a lot of talk I am sure. I assume that she was EXTREMELY nervous. I, personally, believe it wasn't so hot. It would have been amazing if she didn't add all of those ridiculous flares and scoops. It is an anthem, it should be sung as an anthem, not a pop song.

I'm not trying to hate, I don't even know what this girl is from… but, she's not a very good singer, prez. Are you paying attention? that was horrible. disney don't teach their "stars" any proper singing techniques. And i have some idea what i'm talking about - my vocal tutor is an opera singer. Having a big voice and using lots of vibrato does not make you a good singer. She needs to work on her diction too, i can barely make out a word.

Yeah, she's got a killer voice, but she absolutely mangled that! And she chopped it up to take breaths in all the wrong places and didn't enunciate at all well. Yes awesome voice! but if she'd just kept it a little more true to form, it would have been far lovelier. And just because Miley doesn't sing high, doesn't mean she can't sing, she has a very unique voice that really suits her.

i am a singer and i can tell you that her preformance was terrible.
she was flat, way over the top, and you could tell she was straining her voice.
she was a bit hoarse and she was practically screaming. she also added too much flair– this is a traditional song, and some of the notes she added to the song were flat or didn't fit with the tune.
she needed to practice a little bit more.
also, i saw miley's preformance on the x-factor, and i have to say she did a better job. obviously that was her song, but if demi was going in front of an arena of people, singing live into what was probably not the best sound system, singing a'capella, AND singing a notoriously difficult song, she should have put in the extra effort and practiced it more. she also shouldn't have gone off and added all of the frills if she wasn't completely confident in her ability to sing the song.
i love demi but her rendition of the national anthem was terrible. she butchered that song. she was a ball of nerves and she tried to add to many rolls and adlibs that were not necessary. the rest of it was shouted. i was majorly disappointed.

I just made this account to say that there is either an overabundance of miley cyrus fans here, or the majority of you are completely retarded.
Demi did an amazing job here considering all of the factors that were holding her back (stadium acoustics, nerves, her age, degree of difficulty of the song, etc..). People are calling her out for not sounding perfect while tons of ESTABLISHED artists completely bombed singing this song. Really if you thought this was bad then I invite you to listen to the performances of Kat DeLuna or Carl Lewis.
