One of my friends saw this film in London and just adored the film. She wont stop talking about it. She loved Rob and Javier in it. Rob especially as he really goes for it. As people have said its a very brave performance from someone so young. He's the best.

AMAZING. I'm so happy for Rob! He's such a diverse actor…and so young. I'm happy he's able to break away from the teeny boppers. Even though this was filmed before Twilight…it's still being released after so people will definitely have more respect for him! I have high anticipation for this film and I think he will do great as Dali!

Being a huge Dali fan myself, I feel angry that they turned this into a homo-erotic love story. I understand Robert Patterson is hot according to the masses (why?). And I love boy-on-boy action myself, but really? Dali?
Anyone who knows anything about Dali will be the first to tell you that although his paintings have a lot of sexual imagery, Dali himself was a very non-sexual person. He was actually quite afraid of sex and the act itself was of no interest to him. Secondly, Dali's wife, Gala, was a goddess to him. She was his muse and saved him from his self-destructing behavior. He loved her unconditionally.
I wish someone would make a good, true, biopic on the painter — About more than his mustache & "the melting clocks". Idiots…

aurelia: It's usually never as simple as someone "just not being sexual." Look what happened when people bought that line from Michael Jackson for so long. Unless someone's missing out on some serious hormones inside them, their sexuality is present and may manifest in various ways when it isn't being expressed consciously. This movie is not too much of a leap, even though it definitely goes beyond what can be documented. Lorca and Dali did have an intense friendship, and Dali admits to Lorca coming onto him. I don't think it's too hard to take that a little further and imagine if Dali reciprocated similar feelings, even if he didn't physically seal the deal(they don't seal the deal in the movie).

And the whole thing about Dali is that it was VERY HARD for anyone to figure him out–someone could think they totally knew him and then he would say something completely different. So anyone who REALLY knows anything about Dali would know that he wrote two different autobiographies and contradicted himself from one to another, first saying that his mother molested him, and in the second one saying that he loved his mother and she was a wonderful woman. He was a complicated man and a wonderful artist. This movie is about Dali's early years, during a time in which he admitted to being in love and/or infactuated with a man. Did you ever consider that maybe this movie is about a time before he got married, when he was going through the self destructive behavior? There is no way that you can boil it down to someone making a movie about the "real Dali". He was constantly changing during his many years and according to the movie websites, there will be several movies coming out about Dali, so maybe one will be "true" enough for you. And just so you know those "idiot" movie makers that you are so skeptical about are being criticized from other people who think that he should have the moustache during the whole movie. Everyone has different opinions, and I'm sure they tried very hard to give the most faithful, honest movie possible.

Robert Pattison's accent sounds decent. Dali is one of the greatest artist from Spain, which it would have been nice to have a Spaniard plat the role, but he seems to do well. Robert Pattison and Matthew McNulty who plays Luis Bunuel, are the only non native Spanish speakers. Plus Dali's accent is expected to be different because he was from Catalonia and Lorca from Andalusia. Dali had a fear of being touched by anyone. It is known Lorca had feelings for Dali, who was a sexually repressed artist who tried and failed to consummate his relationship with Lorca. He was married and did love his wife there is no denying that, however his relationship with Lorca went beyond the physical aspect. Lorca had an incredibly tragic death. Dali was haunted by Lorca to the day of his death. The two sex scenes in the film are portrayed as Dalí recounted them from his death-bed, and he also made it clear the love between them was mutual, he felt the two of them were soul-mates, but he was simply "too scared."
