Take That Spews Britney Spears Venom

Unlike Lily Allen, who only had kind things to say about Britney Spears' London stop over, the boys from Take That took some nasty digs at the pop princess through the UK press.
In regards to Britney 'mimeing' on X Factor, the band's Gary Barlow said, “I don’t see the point of Britney anymore, she was rubbish on the show. I think she’s more famous than she deserves to be now…Why come on a show like that and mime? I don’t like her new song either. Her old stuff was great but maybe she should have spent more time on this one.”
One of the other guys, Howard Donald, was a little bit nicer. He said, "The truth is all the contestants on X Factor are so talented and were able to sing and dance live, so why couldn’t Britney do it? It’s the whole point of the show and her miming looked stupid. It’s not that she can’t do it, Britney is really talented and can sing – I just don’t think she understood the show. I think probably she was made to do it as a promotional opportunity in England. Britney is unlikely to have had a lot of say in it. The contestants did a better job than her. I’m glad she’s back but X Factor wasn’t right for her.”
Maybe the Take That boys probably can't get over the fact that Britney's latest release in the UK is named Circus, just like theirs, and that both new albums came out on the same day.
But, Take That kicked Brit's butt in first day sales.
Britney, however, is an international superstar. Take That, on the other hand…..

How can you not expect to get bad press when you go on a talent show and lip synch? Anyone can lip synch. It doesn't look good whena famous "singer" is lip synching and some ordinary people are actually singing and actually have talent. No wonder they are questioning why she's even famous. But of course, Britney was always just one of those pretty faces in the music industry, one of those young kids they take up, have "hit" songs written for them, teach 'em some dance moves and then sell their sex appeal to those just hitting puberty. It ain't like it hasn't been done for decades now. A lot of companies market stuff to teens. They way they see it, teens are people with money to spend who have no brains and no taste. They'll buy anything you advertise if you make it seem "cool" enough!

Who is Take Five?? First, five? What's their name…?? They feel like they have the right to criticize her? She's a performer, everyone knows that. You can't go to a show of her's and expect a live performance…She was never EVER about that. She was about putting on a fun concert, a show for her fans. And they may have kicked her butt…in the UK, but it takes a real talented person to make it in the US…The UK will give anyone a chance to make a quick buck and make a fool of themselves on stage. So one take whatever the fuck their name is, is a household name over here…then they can talk, but until then they can shut their mouths.

Take That are, or have been really famous in basically all countries of the world, except in the US. And they sold millions of albums. I guess they were too boring for the US. Robbie Williams was the only good thing to come out of Take That. And he is better than both TT and Britney. Not bigger than Britney as far as global recognition but waaay better than her. He doesn't have to lip synch through his concerts.
So, I could be wrong but didn't Britney sell around 219,000 copies her first day and Take..This?..That?…whatever…only sell 133,000.. I could be wrong but those are substantially different?

Take That never vanished..they split up for a while and then returned with a hit number 1 album and numerous number one singles, all of which they wrote themselves. My,my,my children. What started off as a genuine comment about someone miming on a talent show has turned into a trans-Atlantic war of words. This is the WORLD WIDE web and in the WORLD today both of these artists are HUGE in terms of their track record, sales and popularity. Take That are entitled to their opinion and are currently the biggest selling artist in many parts of the world. Britney should have known better to mime on a live talent show and the fallout from that performance will resonate for some time and I'm sure she'll defy the critics in the not too distant future, while she continues to be the biggest selling artist in many other parts of the world. Sometimes we need to look beyond our own borders and realise that taste, talent and opinion differ from the small part of the world that we inhabit.
Take That are not "spewing venom", they are merely speaking the truth !

If you think Take That is anything brilliant, you probably can't see past your own nose. The UK has produced a lot of brilliant internationally known musicians: The Beatles, Bowie, Elton John, Queen, New Order, The Smiths, Kate Bush, The Police, Radiohead, Coldplay, etc. You can't even compare Take That to any of those artists.

I never said said the UK has produced far more classic artists that the U.S.; I merely acknowledged the ones you have produced. The fact that TT were a one-hit wonder in the US isn't the issue (it's fact and the US's loss), it's the fact that certain american posters think that if an act isn't big in the US=nobodies. Which is clearly incorrect in this case.
I didn't have a 'bad' experience in the US on the occassions I've been but I was astounded by their ignorance of the world around them.

Most Americans don't think anything or everything outside of the US is crap; if you look at the U.S. charts within the last couple of years (or historically) you would see a representation of artists from different parts of the world. Just because Americans do not have a love affair with Take That like the rest of the world has doesn't mean Americans are ignorant.
