Re: jackie kay – That's funny because that's what we Canadians say about ignorant Americans such as your self….
Re: Fuck Stephan Dion – LOL YESS! GO ALBERTA!!!!
Re: buck – Im sure it would look much better than when Bush ran it so stfu
i hate harper.
I'm from Canada and all i hear out of this is blah blah blah, we're a bunch of babies (and i mean the government) Things aren't going our way, lets shut down parliament for nearly 2 months and find a way to make things go the way we want them too, boo hoo, waaaaaaaaaah!!! Our government was going downhill ages ago, I still remember the multiple protests I took part in. But what do you all expect? Not alot of people voted, you all had your chance to kick out Harper, deal with it!!! I'm not thrilled about the idea with a coalition government but i wasn't complaining about it, it would be better than Harper, but everyone was complaining about everything. Now here is my complaint since its all not worth my time and to sit back and watch as people who don't have any sense other than to make money, watch as they ruin any future my self and my kids (assuming i have any) may have. My complaint is that these people get a very long Christmas Vacation and they don't deserve it!!! i get paid minimum wage for dealing with stupid people all day long, they just get paid lots of money!!WHERE IS MY 2 MONTH LONG HOLIDAY?!
Re: jackie kay –
Hey Jakie Kay, think that you should reconsider how useless Canada is when we provide America and the world, with a huge amount of Energy and other Natural resources, without us a large portion of the U.S would be in the dark and without homes in the first place no power or lumber from Canada. Canada contributes far more to the world stage than I think you realize, perhaps you should research something before speaking on it
He keeps trying to gain more power! He called an election just to try and get a majority government, and now that didn't work and he's pulling shit like this. Soon he'll announce Canada is a dictatorship and he's the leader! I hate him!
Re: jackie kay –
Are you that ignorant? Not only does Canada provide your stupid country with 90% of its natural resources but we are also essential to your self defence system. Maybe you should take your head out of your big fat american ass and open your eyes to what the real world is like.
Re: Dirty old man – This coming from the man who picks up 12 yr old girls online
Re: jackie kay – Yes, it is irrelevant to celebrity gossip. This post just happened to be about politics, and a lot of people feel the need to voice their opinions. Why don't you go and read about the latest Britney scandal? Or go read a dictionary, and learn to spell, or maybe start some more of your sentences with capitals. Yeah, this is the internet. You can't defend yourself from everyone; what you say has no effect, just like their insults, I assume, won't have much affect on you. It's obvious you don't give a flying f-ck about Canada, and you don't know anything about Canadian politics. Pissing people off is only making you look like an idiot. Canadians and Americans feel strongly about this. I swear, the people in these comments are so hostile, and self obsessed. You trampled a man to death just to get a god damn xbox, for God's sake.
this is what happens when everyone in canada was too focused on the US election, they didn't even BOTHER to vote in their own country!
shame on all you fellow canadians of mine who chose NOT to vote…shame
look what happened pretty much because not nearly enough people voted (lowest in history) and this idiot got to stay in power! SHAME
Lol, wow. I live in Canada and wow, he'a dumb fucking idiot, fuck him he won't ever get re-elected after doing this. I hope that asshole gets shit kicked, then falcon punched in the fucken stomach, that goof.
Re: buck –
LOL!? Well nice to know you actually drink our beers.
And yes, Canada DOES matter, why ? ’cause I live here.
REDIC!!! i didnt vote for harper in the election but what right does the opposistion have to create their own government? AND WITH the BLOC??? those bitches have been trying to seperate from Canada for years!!!
its called DEMOCRACY people!!!
STEPHAN DION IS A FOOL
For all of you who are bashing Harper… you have to think about somethings
1. SIX weeks ago we had an election and he was voted in with 124 seat! Big emphasis on the WE.
2. There has been talk that the Liberal party wants Dion to step down. What kind of leader would he be if his own party members don't want him.
3. The NDP and Liberals have been long time rivals.. who wants 2 power hungry rivals together?
4. The Block has made it clear time and time agian that they want to seperate Quebec from the rest of Canada
5. The Liberals want to use OUR tax money that we have earned to help bring AMERICAN (no offense) car companies out of debt.
Canada calls itself a Democratic company and I ask HOW can something like this be reasonable when the people of the country have no say.
so all i'm saying is that we fairly voted harper back in.
Re: Canadian_Chika – totally agree with you!!!!!!!!!!!!! its unbelievable that a government can do this… its for sure a flaw
Re: buck – you also get beef, lumber, & countless natural resources…p.s. we have oil too! do some research before you let your arrogant ass get carried away.
Re: highclassjunkie – how is it a disregard of citizens to have a coalition that represents 2/3 of the population vote to promote the will of the people? The electoral system is flawed for sure. But how can you honestly claim this goes against the will of he people who (however fractured) voted to NOT give this man power?
Re: durrright – sure harper didn't get more than half of the votes but in our government that doesn't matter…. more people voted for him than for any other party. He got the most seats so fairly he became our leader. Everyone is saying this is undemocratic even though this is the way its been always??? its undemocratic that 3 other parties can overthrough the person that was voted in without any say of the people. it makes sense that he is in power anyways… the liberals have messed up too many times in the past and obviously we arent prepared to vote them back in yet….. just look at that loser dion for example.
Re: Kerrs – Actually, you did have a choice. Become a member of the party….if you are so passionate about your politics, Do something about it. I dislike Harper as well, but don't claim ignorance when you had no reason not to do anything
p.s. I didnt even vote for Harper but unlike some people I believe in democracy and he won fairly.
fairly like every other prime minister before him as we have had minority governments before. Other then the one other time; Why hasnt any other party leader done this before??? because they've all been sane unlike the power hungry dion who doesn't know how to take a lose.
Re: jess9454 – the liberals messed up by delivering balanced budgets (with surpluses) while conservatives have been triumphal in legislating their own agenda while ignoring the concerns of the people….how can you logically prop up a government that rules by ideology without any logical basis for future victory? theories are well & good for their supporters, but a presentation of ideas that conform to your base dont really constitute debate at all.
Re: durrright – well all i'm saying is that it is completely undemocratic that another party can take over parliment without the say or vote of the people.
Re: memyselfandi – okay..
Re: dr pepper power – I didnt say Canada was useless. And I didnt speak on the issue.
i voted layton
LOL perez.. you said it..
our goverment is fuckkkeed up.
Re: ANGRYPANDA – Really,Im the hostile one? I can read and use a dictionary just fine. Im not stupid, ur stupid for even commenting on me. If I dont matter, than why waste ur time judging me? You think you are better than me b/c I would rather see gossip on a gossip website? I voiced my opinion on it then got hostile reaction for it and acted hostile back. So now my right to defend myself is not allowed? When did I ever say people couldnt talk about Canada? And I admitted I dont know much about it other than whats on the news and paper but it really isnt a hot topic in the South United States and thats just a fact. So hows about you just comment on ur Canada and not worry about little ol' simple me?
Haven't read any comment on this yet… I'm a french canadian and I'm more than excited about what's happening in our country right now, especially since we're having a provincial election to top it all off on monday. I am not a big fan of the conservatives and I am definitely not a fan of Bush's puppet: Harper (what a redneck?). But, I'm not a fan of the liberals or the Bloc… I'm all NPD! I'm tired of the quebec bashing that's been going on in the media… If the rest of the country despises us so much, why not accept our request to become our own country? I swore that I'd become a separatis if Harper was reelected and I'm so hoping we get to vote for another referendum… Harper is an old fashioned dictator that doesn't believe that we're all equal. With him, we'll only be going backwards. I'm not rooting for Dion either because he has no leadership at all. It's worst on the provincial side of the matter because all candidates look like they have no idea what they're getting into…
Re: lovejanick – I agree with you for the most part… what we really need is for another election to be called and for more people to show up at the polls so that we can have a fair and democratic decision…I'm also not the biggest harper fan but i sure as hell would rather him be prime minister over dion
The alternative is a crazy Frenchman who hid from the media for days after he lost the election. If he hides like such a sore loser, imagine how he will react when he has to make the big decisions ("Canada has troops WHERE?!")
Dion is the French version of Dubya…but at least Bush had the balls to back up his statements with a couple wars. Ours will just trash the economy with his so called 'Green Shift" plan…that's what we need, to increase gov't spending when the economy is going down the tubes.
It's actually not crazy, this is the way the canadian government works, it's easier to closer parliament then have a re-election which is very expensive. Parliament won't be closed for long. In canada elections can take place at anytime there are no set limits of when they have to happen.
If you knew how the Canadian system worked and what the alternative was - it wouldn't be crazy. Although it was arguably pretty stupid of Harper to propose the election funding cuts for the opposing parties while only holding a minority government, it was smart for him to dismiss Parliament (not to mention they were going on break next week anyway). The opposition's coalition is just a stupid excuse to gain power and would allow the Liberals to run Canada - they only won like 2 seats in the House, the lowest in history. It's obvious that Canada did not want the Liberals as their governing body. Also, if the coalition were able to call upon the Governor General, what would she do? Call an election 7 weeks after the first election and waste another 30 million while we're all experiencing a global financial crisis? That would be smart. The other option would be to have Stephane Dion become prime minister and have Liberal power within the House. Stephane Dion was going to step down from his role at Liberal leader because of his poor results last election winning only 2 seats in the House.
Really, if you're going to have an opinion, know the facts and the alternatives. Harper may have slipped up, but he has proven to be a very strategic and smart leader. Because obviously a separatist Bloc would do Canada justice. Or better yet, Dion who couldn't even secure a prominent presence in the House and was about to step down and hid from the media after the embarrassing loss.
*sighs* that's what happens when you're too chicken-shitted to kick the monarcy out and adopt a USA-style electoral system. The British system is too unstable and doesn't allow for set terms (i.e., you're in office 4 years, even if you managed only 10 more electoral votes than the other party). It is a power-play by the opposition Liberal party. They signed a deal with the devil aka Bloc Quebecois. It is crazy, the BQ are a party dedicated to making Quebec a separate country. Ugh. It's like kids having temper tantrums there in Ottawa. Shameful, really. *rolls eyes*
Re: jess9454 – the people did vote & the vast majority of them did Not vote for Harper. Those people will have their say through the coalition more than they ever would with a Haroer givernment.
He just doing what he thinks is right … but is it ?? ah fuck it were all doomed
For the fucking idiot who said Canada is "irrelevant", it just shows how ignorant you truly are. The fact that the coalition government was even attempted is an embarrasment to our democratic nation and shows characteristics of a communist one. I voted NDP, however, they lost. With that said it is my duty to respect the party that does win whether I agree with it or not. Thats why we have elections. Whether people disagree with the party in power or not is unimportant, you need to stand by your country ESPECIALLY in times like these. Canada may not be going through a severe recession but the USA is, and we need to try to correct mistakes and help one another out, rather than have a bunch of POOR LOSERS disregard the people of the countrys' opinion and form their own party. The bloc Quebecois wants to destroy Canada and to even form any kind of relationship with such an IDIOTIC group of people is utterly ridiculous and low.
Re: jackie kay – You are THE most ignorant UNWORTHY person on this site. You have no valid opinions on politics and I'm sure on any other issue. PLEASE do your self a favor and just STOP talking. Your posts are a waste of space.
Re: Merrra – So why don't we just not bother voting at all? I'm not sure if you understand the rules and regulations of an election. Read up on it and then reply. THANKS.
Re: Novel1 – You're an idiot. SHUT UP.
Re: Cripit – THANK YOU, that was actually one of few intelligent things said in the forum.
Re: Holly-15 – you dont have the power to deem me unworthy of aything. And just b/c u told me to stop talking, i will continue to.
i dont know about everyone else,
but i am part f the 68% of canadians who did not vote for the conservatives.
basically, my reasn is b.c Stephen harper looks like a creeper, but I think this country should be run by the majority, not minority.
The conservatives do not look out for the common canadian. I liked a couple of their changes, but not all. I think this would be a great thing. with the coalition coming into government. These are 3 groups that serve the major areas of canada, eastern, northern & central…. Conservatives, have done litttttle campaigning, and have made stupid decisions with arctic sovereignty, spending millions more to build something new, when a perfectly good existing facilities are available.
Re: Holly-15 – and like i said b4, I didnt say Canada was irrelevant to America. Who do you think you are to tell that Im unworthy? How can you be so cruel and hateful? And I didnt say anything about politics, but I did make points about how unhappy people like you jump at the opportunity to be completely unnecessary and rude. So no, if someone is going to take out time to write as long a comment about me like you did, I can take out the time to respond back to them. Honestly it just makes you look more ignorant for even addressing me instead of the issue in article. So just reply and feed more into my ego why dont you?
Re: jackie kay – Saying something intelligent and MAYBE i'll respect you. END OF CONVERSATION.
Re: Holly-15 – I dont need your respect, who are you? Why would I want the respect of some self-loathing gossip site basher? And I have been saying plenty of intelligent things, you are just being obstinate. So END OF CONVERSATION, back to you. because telling me in caps is really going to make it official.
yea, this shit is crazy. I am so scared for our future. I think this whole thing is bullshit. And we're probably going to have another election!! and my vote counts for nothing!
btw I am Canadian.
Re: jackie kay –
Wow! That is an extremely ignorant thing to say. Are you mentally retarded? Seriously.
Yes the conservatives won, but they won a MINORITY government, constitutionally speaking, it is completely legal and acceptable for him to step down or be replaced if he does not recieve a vote of confidence from parliment, vote from all of the people from all the parties that WE ELECTED, all Harper and the Conservatives are trying to to is to buy themselves more time in order to cover their asses and sway public opinion. We can't say this is just about the leaders of parties, its about all the MPs who represent ridings all over the country, and they are working for us, if you have such a problem with MPs using constitutional processes to fix problems, contact your MP and tell them, dont just bitch about it in the comments section of PH (no offense perez!)
Re: durrright – ya but what i'm saying is thats how our government works! it doesnt matter if more people didnt vote for harper it matters that he got more votes than any of the other parties. your not suppost to combine the parties and look at how many seats they have now… these parties are totally seperate people with totally seperate values. like i said earlier this is how its always been and just becasue a man who can't take a lose and wants to be in power he thinks he can get away with being undemocratic and going agianst how how our goverenment has been for over 100 years.
Re: featherbrained – ya the other 3 parties would be a minority but do WE really want these people in power?? Just over a week ago we were hearing that the whole liberal party was wanting dion to step down… do we want a leader who isnt even wanted by his own party?? a leader who has made a complete fool of himself??? (watch the video tape he sent into the news). Do we want the block in power??? people are saying that harper doesn't think about the people??? The block is a FRENCH party. they only care about those in quebec and other french towns around canada. The only person in this that i dont care about is Layton… but when have the NDP ever been in power? they have only got i think 18% of the vote.
Re: jess9454 – i ment majority not minoruty
Canadian politics are always more interesting than US politics.
Re: jess9454 – agreed!
Re: jackie kay – suck it! Glad you're not canadian, beeyotch!
Re: ch_allan – No, Im not mentally retarded.
Re: salimali – I am also glad Im not Canadian.
stephen harper is trying to turn into a dictator
and stephan dion can barely speak english
so our future is going down the drains.
go jack layton:)
I get that the one member that everyone is jumping on isnt necessarily talking relativity of Canada to the U.S. BUT I could see why someone would say that. The only reason Canada is mentioned so much on the site is because there is a huge Canadian demographic that visits. There has been a ton of widely spread discussions of whether or not Canada should be considered a major political player or not.
Not to mention your own identity crisis. Are you peace keepers or major environmentalist country? Either way you are still middle class players."You dont know what you are, but you definately arent Americans," right? Your economy is smaller than Spains. And to be flat out honest, the U.S. has enough oil to sustain itself self-efficently for decades before we'd need Canadian oil. We trade with you out of convenience and there is also the fact that we have a our hands in many different pockets. I can bet you that every citizen in Canada can tell you who the current U.S. President and the president elect is while less than half of U.S. citizens could tell you who yours is. Its not because they are stupid, its just that Canada really makes no huge moves on world issues. There is nothing wrong with that, being a big world player has a lot of its downside. And one may even argue that its better to stay under the radar and be close to a huge player for allied protection than get into it themselves. But when someone says they dont care to hear about your politics, its probably because its only really important to your own citizens and has no drastic and noticeable direct affect on Americans. Although everything has effects and it changes Canada can have correlating effects in U.S.,it is safe to say that we are more relevant to you than the other way around. Both economically and politically speaking.
Have much love for Canadians though, very funny people have come from there and Id love to visit myself sometime.
Re: jackie kay – Considering you know nothing about Canada (your words) how can you say you're proud not to be canadian, so much for you saying intelligent things. And you keep trying to justify what you said by saying you meant what does it have to do with gossip, which I think was a last minute excuse personally, but you still commented on it?!? It was so irrelevant you had to put your imput eh? You have not said anything intelligent and your knocking people down for defending their country. had the shoe been on the other foot and a canadian made such comment about the States…whoa this blog would be 20 pages long. The reason people get offended is because there is a group of really self centered Americans (and yes in Canada these people also exist) that feel Canada is IRRELEVANT and its very upsetting to us because we do so much for the States, probably alot more for you than you do for us. So the ridiculous, ignorant comments Americans make about Canada is very offensive and hurtful to us. we are highly educated about the the State and the rest of the world, and Americans (not all) but a large portion know nothing about anything outside their border. I am in no means an American hater, my father is American, but for all you ignorant ones, fine….be ignorant but don't spread the disease.
Re: jackie kay – Anyways case in point Jackie, you are getting all of these comments becasue you said something rude, and now your calling everyone who responds to you rude and unhappy evil people? Just more proof you know nothing about Canada cause we are one of the happiest, friendly, HELPFUL countries there are. So many things you say are contradicting it's so funny
Re: KatKnapp – Where do you think you get most of your natural resources? And your right you dont know who are president is PROBABLY CAUSE WE DONT HAVE A PRESIDENT??? Did you know that Spains population is over 45 million while Canada's is under 33??? maybe thats why their GDP is slightly higher. Per capita Canada is actually one of the leading countries for GDP, lol. Did you know the US isn't #1??? And I bet you still wouldnt be able to name the leader of the country who is in #1? So what does that tell ya?? lol
Im not contradicting myself.I never personally attacked Canadians in any way. I still dont see the point of you still talking to me. I have Canadian friends, I have no problem with Canada. you can personally interpret what I said however you want. But on every post recently about politics on the U.S. homefront and Canada's Ive said it is irrelevant and didnt get this kind of reaction from any Americans. But atleast you've managed to type two whole comments without directly attacking my intelligence. So good job for cooling it.
prime minister* that was my mistake.Stephen Harper.
and having a high GDP growth is not necessarily good thing for the stock market.
Re: KatKnapp – haha Wow you obviously don't know much about economics eh? What do you think stocks are based on? And if you really wanted to bring up the economy the states is in a ……oh ya recession. And the state of Canda's economy has alot to do with your country and its current predicament. just sayin'
Re: jackie kay – I never said you attacked canadian, I said you've offended many. And thank you, but I was thinking you're doing a good job all on your own regarding your intelligence or lack there of. Once again if you meant its irrelevant on a gossip site maybe you should have elaborated. Its not like it was couple of people who took it the same way.
Re: Dame Perez – GDP is the value of all goods and services produced within a country. Its not the only determining factor of the success of an economy.
A "hot" market due to a high gdp could over exploit your own natural resources and so no its not necessarily good.
i just read the book in the following exerpt(Im double-minoring in business and econmics):
"hot" markets tend to have high GDP growth and that's a bad thing. You read that right — high GDP growth is not necessarily good for the stock market. "You should read the study Triumph of the Optimist by Dimson, Marsh and Staunton," he said. "They took data from 16 countries since 1900 and found a negative correlation between GDP growth and stock market returns. Can you believe that?"
"Japan had very high GDP growth as you know, but its stock returns were poor," he explained as he cut into his steak. "Take South Africa. It has low GDP growth but was among the top performing stock markets."
Re: Dame Perez – Well, I did elaborate later and saw the error of my ways. I didnt mean to offend anyone, just frustraited. I wouldve skipped over it if the link said anything regardings it contents beig political, but it didnt. I just caught "crazy shit is happening."So Im sorry if it offended you, I love my sountry and I can guarantee you mine gets a lot more negative connotations and talk then yours but I dont take it to heart.
all i can say is WTF
Re: jackie kay – You've made it clear you wanted to defend yourself. You've already done that, we know you're immature. You just want to annoy the people on this site who actually know what they're talking about. You aren't giving respect, so you sure won't get it. You don't have anything intelligent to say, obviously. You're giving everyone crap about posting hateful comments and wasting their time on you, but you're being a hypocrite and doing the same. It would spare everyone a lot of pain and a lot of rambling on in an argument no one can ever win. No- you never attacked Canada. But you have, as mentioned above, offended a lot of people. And, I'm sure they've offended you. Yet, honestly, the more you reply, the more hateful comments you will receive, which will make you feel the need to post a response. And so, the cycle continues. Anyone who doesn't have anything smart to say should do us all a favor and stop posting; including the idiots who actually did discriminate against Canada.
ALRITE! if all of you think that jackie kay is so immature then why OH WHY are you all still fighting with her?
It just makes you all look stupid for fighting with someone who 1.is from the states and knows nothing about Canadian Politics and 2.has already ADDMITED that her comment was in poor taste!
LEAVE THE POOR GIRLIE ALONE! holy hell. After reading half of your responses to her comment I've come to the pretty OBVIOUS conclusion that you are all beating a dead horse, she said the comment around 3 days ago and you are all still going on and on and on and not one of you has said a different thing. Its all been the same bashing comment just in different words.
BACK TO THIS COALITION BULLSHIT!
I heard on the radio that the politicians want the world to know that "Canada has a stable government"
so I laughed pretty hard and thought I'd share that with all of you.
Re: jackie kay –
"canada is so irrelevent… "
so im assuming youre american? yes. canada, your countries biggest trading partner, is so irrelevent. makes perfect sense..?
Re: KatKnapp – I am aware of what a GDP is thanks, and what you wrote still doesn't rebut anything I've said in my last 2 comments. Ie Canada's economy per capita is one of the best, your country is in a recession and stocks are not the defining factor of a country's economy. Did I mention your country is in a recession? Im still confused why you even brought up our economy compared to Spain? How are you guys doing compared to Spain? oh right, you're in a recession???
i love canada, hate harper:(
Re: hales – she didn't say President, she said Presidence …lol
whats happening stinks up here but lol i have to admit these comments are quite interesting… LOL only you Perez!
Re: Dame Perez – WOW, LOL. You are a relentless little gossip debater, arent you?
I only stated how it it possible to have a negative correlation with a countries high gdp and stock market.
And yes I am fully aware of the present recession.I dont live under a rock,I live in the U.S. The economy crisis hasnt hit my current living location unlike the bigger cities. In fact,I am benefitting from the very low gas prices at the moment. But you stated previously that your economy is being effected by OUR recession only reinforcing my initial fact; that we are more relevant to you. And we trade with you out of convenience and low cost of transporting goods. But it is also true that you are indespensible and we could easily get goods elsewhere.
Im not saying Canada isnt a trusted and valued allie. Im just saying it is only out of geograpical convenience that majority of our trading is with you. But we dont NEED you, and I can bet your economy wouldnt be so hot if it werent being fueled by all that said trading with the U.S.
Ok,
Im a Canadian and proud of it.
Some of the people on here are absolutley disgusting and some of the comments that are made blow my mind.
First, this whole coalition thing. Ok im a conservative at heart, and am against the coalition becuase i dont think dion can do anything better than harper. Do i support harper a hundred percent, NO!. Would I support the liberals and the coalition if someone like Micheal Ignatieff was the leader yes. the coalition is peerfectly legal. Canada has a messed up election system where really nothing gets done becuase most governement are minorities.
The reason i chose to comment on this is becuase someone said Canada is irrelevant. First of all, how close minded does a person have to be in order ot make a comment like that. Where do you get all you lumber and wood from. When "y'all" run our of water, where you gooing to get it from. When you econmy is in the shitter becuase of no gov;'t oversight, but ours is slightly better becuase we had a more responsible gov't, well see whose irrelevant then. If were so irreleveant, fight the fuckin war in afghanastan yourself. We'll see how that worlks with your depleted military and huge mortherf"ckin deficit. Even you stupid President Bush acknowledged hes and idiot, its about time you do to.
And whoever called canadians commies.. well just becuase we have free healthcare, good education, and our universities dont make us pay up the ass, sure were comies who have better social programs, abd really in general are nicer people. Think free health care is joke and a 'Commie" thing, tell all the people in your country that dont have healthcare, who die becuase of a lack of healthcare to suck it up then. No, becuase everyone deserves to be looked after. So why dont you go back to thehole you came from, and die:) ass holes.
Re: canuckbaby – That was wasted breath,or thought rather. if you read more, you'd see that person you speak of was talking relevance of canadian politics to celebrity gossip. And she also apolgized if she offended someone, but that was not her intention. as far as the commie comment, that was stupid to say.but you have to understand americans have been conditioned to believe communism is the devil and ultimate fall of freedom. Its not a means for a greedy country. Idealistically, it makes perfect sense. But Canada is not a true communist country. So if your point is that you are better than America. I suppose you are. But that doesnt keep people from around the world coming here to better themselves and take advantage of our prestigious schools and our economy. But I can vouche that we dont have people dying on the streets, anyone can go to a clinic and be treated. We do have the safety net of welfare. If you want to take advantage and climb your way to the top of the business ladder, than the U.S. can be a wonderful place. But you're right, if you have a family and a minimum paying job, its not as easy here. But you cant repute that hardwork and a higher education can bring you the American dream of building your own empire.
I love Ameica. It is more challenging to be constantly watched and ridiculed by the whole world. Canada doesnt have that problem.Yes, our economy will get worse before it gets better due to credit over the next 2 yrs. But we will pull though because the will-power and intelligence of our country will see us through. Not to mention we have our newly elected president whom the whole world is happy about.
We arent dying or starving, our poor live better than many countries people which is sad but true. Just like you said your country's government has differing opinions than your people. Its the same here. People are constantly making an effort to help end the war on terror. But when it first started, it was justified. There was a vast majority who were mad and in an agreement that we had been attacked and civillians were lost due to that attack. So we defended ourselves. Bush made that decision and everyone supported him until now, b.c we didnt have the advantage of hindsight then. And war is not easy to end.So yeah we got ourselves into some big boy trouble, but to say we cant handle it is belittling us. And isnt that what your whole problem in the first place? Americans saying you are less than? So how bout we both stop passing judgement and going back and forth on the whole "my country is better than your country" spiel, b/c you cant compare us. We are two different places in the world, and to say one is better than the other IS ignorant.
Re: KatKnapp – now who's the "relentless gossip debater"
Dear Stephen Harper,
There must have been something wrong with your budget for the other parties to have rejected it completely.
