Chick Sued!

Bad news for one of the Dixie Chicks.
Lead singer Natalie Maines is being sued for defamation by the stepdad of one of three 8-year-old boys killed back in 1993.
The incident involved the death of three kids and their three suspected murderers, Jason Baldwin, Damien Echols and Jessie Misskelley.
One of the boys' step-dads, Terry Hobbs, is apparently upset with a comment Natalie made about him.
Maines was at a rally in Little Rock last December when she claimed the three "suspected murderers" were innocent and that new evidence showed step-dad Hobbs was the killer.
Before that she wrote a letter on her site in November 2007 in which she claimed new DNA testing of hair from the crime scene linked Hobbs to the killings, adding that his behavior after the murders showed his guilt.
But the lawsuit claims her remarks are false and Hobbs is seeking compensatory and punitive damages as he claims he's suffered from emotional distress, loss of income, and injury to his reputation.
According to the lawsuit, Maines' statements were "so extreme in degree as to be beyond the pale of decency and to be regarded as atrocious and utterly intolerable in civilized society."
Hobbs said earlier this year that "I want people to know I haven't done nothing wrong. I want them to hear it from me."

Just to correct this Hobbs person's grammar. When you say "I haven't done nothing wrong" you are in fact admitting guilt. Two negatives equal a positive moron.
She's been known to be a lying loudmouthed cunt. Even back when she lost most of her fanbase by making up bullshit about Bush. People didn't pay to hear them pretentiously go on about politics. Do what you get payed to do and shut up. No one wants to hear your jib jab lies.

No actually she wasn't. What she said about Bush was still a lie. It doesn't matter if you like him or not. He's not my fav president, but compared to what other choice we had..
It's one thing to dislike someone and complain about them in a legitimate manner on your own time.
It's another to use your ability to get on stage as a platform for spreading hate and lies when people were paying her to just shut up and sing.
The latter is what she did.
I am ALL for bashing Bush for LEGITIMATE reasons. But those that bash him using lies and propaganda actually make him look good. Because people think "we'll if loons like her are lying, who else is lying?" and start to NOT believe the REAL things Bush has done wrong.
It's called crying wolfe. And she did it. And she DESERVED the shit she got.

I am not saying EITHER WAY. But she DID lie. And she DID commit slander.
This could HURT the case if he IS guilty. I would say she should know better, but frankly I don't think she does. She can't control her big mouth.
BTW she isn't so much fat now. She was however fat before.
BTW regardless if you think the 3 are innocent or that someone else is guilty. YOU CANNOT make baseless accusations without getting your ass sued. And you should NOT make them because they could later HARM the case if he is ever tried.
Try to save the 3 men, sure. But this seems more like a witch trial against the other man.
EVERYONE deserves a fair trial. You guys are on a witch hunt.

She has the freedom to say what she wants yes. Just like someone else has the freedom to sue her ass if she slanders them while having such freedoms.
Freedom of speech doesn't mean you aren't responsible for the things you say. Remember that.
