I loved it and so did my daughter. I don't tink Zach is the hottie of the movie though, my daughter thinks Corbin in the cutie. It was a cute DISNEY movie. You gotta give it up to the Disney marketing machine which has made the HSM musical franchise the juggernaut that it is. It doesn't matter if Zach is gay or not, the ambiguity of his persona only makes him more appealing to everyone concerned. There is no denying the talent of all the kids in the movie. Kids are the best critics - mine especially like Corbin, have to say they are over Vanessa, and of course a little gaga over Zach. Is this phenomenom Disney, STAR Power, or just a bunch of bullshit hype. My guess is it's star power - and say what you will about Zach Effron, his star is rising mighty fast and THAT's what Hollywood is all about. Hopefully he made multiple millions to be in this movie - but being Disney, he probably made 10% of what he deserved. Good luck to his career in the future - hopefully he has good management to make the right choices, he certainly has the talent (at such a young age) to succeed. Congratulations to all involved in this project, it will make even more money than the first. And that's all that matters in Hollywood.

Is he another pretty boy who will fizzle out once the buyers of Tiger Beat hit puberty, or will he grow as an actor and performer? My own opinion is that he is where the actor Shane West was ten years ago - West, once regarded primarily for his looks, has developed into a serviceable actor, as seen on ER. Another Disney graduate, Shia LaBeouf, while not possessing Zac's facial looks or athletic body, seems much more positioned to make a big name for himself, both because of his more developed acting talents and because of his real dedication to the acting craft - I was quite impressed to read that LaBeouf wants to attend CalArts (where I got my MFA). LaBeouf's "sponsorship" by the likes of Steven Spielberg will not hurt, either.
