I just want to know why everyone is for Katie Robot Holmes and her little robot daughter. The reason Tom seems so fucking off-the-wall is because he is paired up with someone who does not feel human emotion. It's evident through her acting and the vacant stare she has to hide behind huge shitty celebriwhore sunglasses. Tom Cruise is an entertainer, so he did what the audience wanted. And it wasn't "crazy", it was just an Elvis impersonation. Get over it. Sure scientology is a cult, but it's not like Tom Cruise is entirely to blame for the whole thing. Many celebs are scientologists, so start being more afraid of that, instead of Tom Cruise.
