Wow, I usually like Lily Allen but this is quite possibly the silliest comment I've ever heard. I agree Madonna is overrated, but to slam Madonna then praise the queen of mediocrity, Britney Spears, is the most convoluted leap of logic ever.

regardless of what anybody thinks of the quality of madonna's work (for it is very subjective and could be argued indefinately), you have to give her props for the successful career she's built and for her work ethic.
i personally, think she's pretty kick ass. i also think it's rediculous for an "artist" to criticize another "artist" when they practically do the same thing.
I don't think Madonna's overrated. I think Britney's new album is good but it's not fantastic. I see similarities between Madonna and Britney. Both know they're not the most vocally gifted singers on the planet, but they're very good entertainers (Britney used to be, at least). I think Britney's lost her mojo the past few years so there's less of a comparison to Madonna now than in the past. Madonna is the queen of changing it up and evolving musically, while Britney seems kind of stuck in this area.

How can you call a woman a goddess that can't make any of her own decisions in life? Sure, she has great producers making her albums, but she's never taken control of her career the way Madonna has.
Madonna is strong as nails. She'll never be pulled out in a gurney or have her life signed over to her dad. She sings live yes (sometimes not that good, let's face it) but she sings live. She chooses everything about her career and always has. This is a woman who went to NY by herself with very little money and came out a superstar. There were no boardroom meetings or marketing plans.

Madonna is only overrated by her zealous fans. The rest of the world knows all she's good for is occasional ear candy, making clever videos, and her clever marketing ploys (i.e., her staged "controversies"). There's not really many of her songs that I would consider classics, and she doesn't have a voice that I would say is moving or emotional. If "Like a Virgin" or "Material Girl" are two of the biggest songs you're known for, that's not saying much.
