Taylor Speaks! To Meet With New Moon Director

Who's in and who's out?
In the revolving-door world of Twilight's sequel, New Moon, it could be anyone's guess!
After director Catherine Hardwicke was switched out for Chris Weitz, the next role up for grabs is that of Jacob, the primary love interest in the sequel.
Rumors were buzzing that Twilight's Taylor Lautner would but cut from the cast because (producers) Summit was looking for someone bigger and hunkier, someone like Michael Copon, to play the older Jacob Black.
Both actors are campaigning hard for the role, but no one has been confirmed yet.
In an MTV interview, Taylor says he's been working out since production on Twilight wrapped, putting on 19lbs and promising an additional 10lbs when filming beginings in 3 months, and wants to put to rest rumors that his agent has reached out to the special effects team of Benjamin Button to digitally enhance the 16-year-old's physique.
He adds, "As far as I know, I haven't been told 'no' yet, so it's still all up in the air."
It seems that Lautner is the fan favorite as well, with online polls and petitions showing overwhelming support for his return, for which Taylor says he's grateful.
In a new interview, Michael Copon is likewise hesitant to commit to anything and likewise puts to rest the Facebook campaign rumors, saying that the profile was a fake and has been since shut down.
But he does say that he feels the role is "perfect" for him and that he'd be "honored" to play the part!
They have 12 more weeks to figure it out!

I assure you that I'm no "screaming fat girl." I run (at least) 5 uphill miles every day and eat a balanced diet with lots of veggies and lean protiens. Nor am I a "screaming Tween." I am a 33 year old woman. I'm also a home owner and have earned 3 (yes, count them, 3!) college degrees (without the help of my parents - all on my own). Nonetheless, I am a die hard Twilight fan. As such, I would NOT want to see the cast switched out. Not only because I liked them in the roles they've played, but also because switching the casts of sequels, in general, is NOT a good idea. It is NEVER well received by audiences. Look at the numbers, Summit. YOU'LL come to the same conclusion and KEEP MR. LAUTNER. He, obviously, is willing to traumatize his body with steriod usage to gain the necessary weight and muscle for the upcoming reprise of HIS role. Just let the guy have it and quit giving him so much shit about it… Seriously…

Copon! Please, please! Taylor looks like a baby! Seriously though, the movie was not the great to begin with, whose to say the new moon will be any better? Summit should not have the rights, Warner Bros should have!

Taylor, (gorgy and god-like *en ma o-pinoy*) struck me as 'Jacob' - i've absolutly no idea why, (prob 'cuz i lov him tbh), but i think he's amazing for the part!!! Keep him!!!!!

i'm a little torn between the two.. i LOVE Taylor Lautner.. and he's totally right, he did what he was suppose to do for 'Twilight'.. he played 'Jacob' to perfection! But in 'New Moon' Jacob grows close to 7ft tall, and is buff! even if Taylor gains the muscle.. being that he is 5 foot nothing,, it wont work! ((that is unless they're willing to spend the money for the effects to make him look taller. which i think he is totally worth it!)) but then again, the other guy (whats his name).. is tall, handsome and facial features close enough to Taylor's to pull it off! either way.. i'm excited that there is a new director, 'Twilight' wasn't as great as it should have been, and could have been! GO WEITZ!!

This picture is deceiving, Michale is 6'1 and teeny bopper Taylor is only 5'8-5'9 at the max. Kristen is 5'7, with heels on she is as tall as Taylor, how sad.
Wow he put on 20 pounds, but he is still short as hell, so that's great we are going to have a short bulky Jacob…..Have you people even read the character description of Jacob in New Moon?? " He is around 6'5 and can at least past for 23 or older……how in the hell does Taylor fit that description? Someone want to answer that question for me?
Also I hope you all know with Taylor it will be harder to film New Moon, since he is only 16 he is still considered a minor (Kristen Stew could be charged for rape! haha) he is only allowed to work 5 hours a day. Hire an older actor and there is no problem with underage crap.

i seriously don't understand why they would change them out at this point. Taylor is fine as Jacob, and switching it out would be confusing. plus, they cut a ton of things out in the first book, i don't think it really matters if he isn't as 'big'. plus that copon guy seems like a douche. i've never seen him in anything.

How about they keep the one that is actually of First Nations (Amerindian) heritage? If the powers that be just HAVE to replace Taylor it might be too much to ask to find an actor with ties to a First Nation in the Pacific Northwest, but it should not be an issue to find one, from some where in North America. Canada has lots of handsome First Nations actors…

Definitely Taylor should continue to play Jacob. I'm a big fan of Twilight and can't wait to see him continue to play Jacob in the sequel. They shouldn't mess with a good thing. Michael Copon fits the Jacob profile WAAAAAAAY better than Taylor. In New Moon Bella tells Jacob that he's beautiful…..and Michael is =). Taylor is too small to be Jacob in New Moon. Plain and Simple.
I was all about changing actors for New Moon's Jacob. But now that I have seen the new and improved Taylor, I say " give him a shot" Both actors are shorter than Rob so the height thing doesn't matter. 6'7" Native American actors are hard to find.

I think they should keep Taylor. He did a great job channeling Jacob in the first film and I think he would do just as good in the rest of the movie. They are already planning to use alot of CGI, so why not use some of it on Taylor?

I am a 22 yr old mom of two and this saga has made me a teen again. I swear I will have a heart attack if they replace Taylor. I have seen him grow up in movies. He is a perfect jacob!
