Filipino Version Of Twilight To Begin Production Soon

Tweenies all over are outraged over news of a Filipino version of Twilight for television set to begin production soon.
Actors Rayver Cruz and Shaina Magdayao will be portraying Edward and Isabella, respectively, in the ABS-CBN production which will treat the vampire love story as "drama, romance, and fantasy."
It will be directed by Cathy Garcia Molina and is scheduled to begin filming sometime in February, in both the Philippines and abroad.
The news comes as an upheaval to Twilighters across the internet, who have started an online petition to halt production on Takipsilim because it will "ruin the real Twilight."
Oh don't worry, the American money-grubbing sequel is already working on that!

Okay, this has to stop. I also watched entertainment live and the people involved have already spoken about this JOKE. It isn't funny reading Pinoys hating their fellow Pinoys without confirming first if all of this are true. And if ever this is true, we have to RESPECT them. Fil version of twilight is all based from ENTERTAINMENT purposes. And yes, not all Filipinos are aware of twilight, because they are unfortunate individuals who suffer from the result of corruption and apathetic elite Filipino community who just care about themselves. Creating Takipsilim is just sharing what is popular to those who can't even relate who Bella and Edward are. So shut your mouth everyone and don't give a damn. There are other things in life to care for like oilprice-hike and toll fee hike.

After the news broke on the web on numerous media blogs, Buzzbox clarified with ABS-CBN Corporate Communication Head Bong Osorio and ABS-CBN Television Head Cory Vidanes who stated, “There is no plan for ABS-CBN to remake ‘Twilight’.”
And there you have it. Now you can safely go back to playing with your Robert Pattinson action figure…

The Philippine remake of Marimar was really nice. Marian Rivera the Filipina Marimar is so gorgeous. She is the hottest star in the Philippines right now. A lot of us here in states are big fan of her.

first of all, there is no truth of the filipino remake of "twilight" that would be entitled "takipsilim" in the local version.
second, that poster is obviously photoshopped by some fans of rayver cruz and shaina magdayao in the philippines.
third, if we filipinos do a remake of your remarkable film, i think the outcome would be a lot better than the original because filipinos are high caliber artists and and has professional and hardworking production staff and crew. besides, the rumored producer of the film is abs-cbn and abs-cbn is known as a highly commendable network in the philippines.
other thing is, it is always star cinema, the film production department of abs-cbn, is always in charge of producing movies. not abs-cbn directly.
lastly, isn't it the americans who are fond of doing remakes from asian movies? need examples? "the ring", "the eye", "the grudge" and the upcoming original filipino movie of iza calzado, "sigaw." the remake dubbed as "the echo." so don't diss us, filipinos. we can offer more talent than you know.

3rd: People who have lived a "sheltered life" in the US don't realize that they are not the only English-speaking country in the world. Most Filipinos learn English even before they start their schooling, and those who are not fortunate to have a private education learn from other resources. The effect is that 99% of Filipinos speak English. I am a Filipino living in the US, and people still keep asking me how I learned to speak English well. Sheesh. I am not being racist, I am merely trying to correct a common misconception.
4th: If they did decide to make a movie based on Twilight, so what? Like other posters have said, Americans have done it too. However, I would definitely re-cast because I don't think those two suit the roles.
I suggest that if they (ABS CBN) decide to make a vampire movie, don't base it on Twilight. Just make it up, adapt to suit what the Filipino viewers would be able to relate to, such as it is, considering it is a mythical story. Oh, and I would prefer Alessandra de Rossi in the lead. She's the only Filipina actress who can actually act. She's dark, and she's crude, and I think she would be better than the normal wannabes.
