How do you go out looking like that? I mean, if someone punched you in the nose, you'd make sure it wasn't bleeding before you went out. And if you did a few lines backstage, wouldn't you check your nose first?

Coke makes your pupils small?? no. HEROIN makes pupils constrict (make "small"). ANY stimulant/amphetamine (of which, cocaine is one) will make your pupils dilate (make "big").

I hate to ruin a good story, but if you've seen the play you know that he gets punched in the face and there's fake blood all over his face (and clothes). Not sure why he didn't clean his ass up before he left the theater, but…

um actually in the play Raul's character punches Piven in the face and his "nose starts bleeding" im sure it isnt real blood but he is covered in it for about ten minutes during a scene from his nose, on his hands and all over a shirt which he changes out of. So he was not doing coke. thanks.
His skin looks good and his eyes are definitely not bloodshot. His pupils look OK, too. Let's give Germy some slack here. The fact that he was taking Chinese herbs is enough for me to believe that he was poisoned by a lot more that mercury. The Chinese just spend the last few months poisoning over 300,000 of their on infants by cutting baby formula with melamine, a plastic, for God's sake! Lord knows what they are putting in their "herbs".

Oh, please… stop trying to make something it's not. It's most likely due to regular things that end of making your nose bleed… dryness, picking, blowing, etc. He probably didn't know it was there, thus why he posed for a pic.

Some idiot stole some mercury from a chemistry class back in high school. He actually played with it with his bare hands. Hazmat crews had to completely strip both that class and his house to the bare floor and beyond! I heard he ended up getting really sick from it too, but I don't know much more than that because he got expelled! Nasty stuff! If Piven really has it, it sucks to be him!

No one questions that too much mercury is a genuine medical issue….the issue is whether you can have it only during times you are supposed to be on stage but it immediately enters remission afterward so you can party. Thanks for the medical education, but you missed the point.

Not to ruin the fun but in the last scene of Speed the Plow his character gets punched in the face and there is a lot of fake blood, that's probably what that is.
