Travolta Family Lawyer And Police Release More Information About Teen's Death

John Travolta and Kelly Preston 's 16-year old son, Jett, died Friday while on a family vacation in the Bahamas.
Their lawyer just revealed to media the exact circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
Jett apparently suffered a seizure at the family vacation home at the Old Bahama Bay Hotel on Grand Bahama Island. Attempts were made to revive him, but he died at the scene.
Jett, who had a history of seizures, was the eldest child of Travolta and Preston. Their daughter, Ella Blue is 8-years old.
So sad.
Update: A police spokeswoman says that Jett hit his head in a bathtub and apparently that triggered the seizure.

John is one of the sweetest and nicest human beings on earth.
His son was not austistic. All the BS out there about autism is coming from people making false claims who don't even know what autism is. I know because I worked in a school for autistic children as an assistant teacher. Autistic children are not cured with changes to diet and and other phony representations. Autistic children have very serious disabilities and many can't function on any normal levels. You have to see real autism to see the difference.
These celebs who go round making fake claims that they have an autistic kid, its total BS. They are using autism to get their face on TV and then act like they have the answers. They can't have answers to a condition their own kids don't have in the first place.
John's son had something wrong but the body isn't perfect. Things go wrong. People are fragile. I am heartbroken for John and his wife and this loss of a son he clearly loved so much.
Stop trying to use scientology and autism to demonize John. He did the best he could as he tried to love and care for his boy

1st scientology is not a religion. It is a cult that believes man can control his own destiny with his mind. 2nd Jett very obviously had autism and probably some mental retardation as well. There are few photos of him, but what there is he walked on his tip toes even into his teens. Seizures although are only seen in about 15% of people with autism are very likely in children with autism and mental retardation. Not to be mean, but his photos tell there own story. it is not hard to see things with your eyes. There was very much something wrong with him. The tragedy is that it was all swept under the rug. Hidden. They should have shouted to the world that their son needed help. It is truely an injustice for him. i am sure they loved him…but scientology has brain washed them.

The passing of a child is hideous, John Travolta seems a kind gentle man I hope his faith helps his family through it I myself dont subscribe to it,usually it creeps me out to find out someone is involved in it but he didnt go crazy with it…unlike some celebs. R.I.P Jett may the love experienced in your short lifetime stay with you wherever you go.
I wonder if this will be a wake up call to Travolta to question his "faith"???? The guilt he will have to endure over the fact that his child COULD have been helped, but WASN'T due to his "religion" may tip him over the edge. I bet the super-scientologists (Tom Cruise, etc.) are being dispatched right now in order to make sure that Travolta doesn't start questioning Scientology practices.

I was shocked to read this earlier tonight! So sad! What is it with teenaged sons of US celebs dying in the Bahamas? Maybe that's not such a safe place to go on vacay!

Not to take away from the grief that the Travolta family is dealing with, but this poor kid's whole life was tragic from start to finish, especially the part where the kid and his condition was pretty much kept hidden because of Scientology. You can bet the Scientology powers-that-be swooped in and did a lot of spin and clean-up as soon as this event happened. Someone should look into whether or not they were "clearing" the kid yet again when he died. As it is, the family has my condolences. They have a lot to deal with.
So, so sad. As much as we see them as fortunate, seems like the rich and famous often have their fair share of suffering.

I´m sure the seizures could have been prevented with medication…I really hope they did their best and did not mess up because of their daft beliefs. Poor kid. Still, people (and kids) die every day in worse circumstances…at least I guess this kid had a happy life?

Sadly this tragedy was preventable but wasn't because of John and kelly's cult. There are hundreds of cases just like this in scientology, difference is this makes the headlines because of the parents celeb status! L Ron Hubbards view was that anyone with an illness like Jetts should be "disposed of quietly and without sorrow"!!!

you watch…now that the kid is dead, the travoltas will do all kinds of philathopic work with kids with disabilities all in the name of Jett…they didn't do a good deed with him or any one else when he was alive, but now that he's gone they'll raise millions, in his name…ribbons…balloons…the whole bit. they could have done so much for him and other kids with disabilities but they put him in a corner instead…shame.

the travoltas loved Jett beyond belief and Autism was a priority for them and to lose a child is just unimaginable, my prayers go out to them, we lost my baby sister when she was 15 to rare skin disease scleroderma pss, my parents never got over that and to this day my moms health is crap 15 years later, pray for strength cause trust me they are sobbing allot bless them they are human beings people

uhhh…venuspower, and others: Autism can be treated. Whether or not people believe that special diets,medications or therapies help their individual children is their own business. Different things work for different people. But John and Kelly long denying their son was clearly on the AS is tragic to many of us dealing with the harsh reality of daily life with autism in a society so ignorant and a medical community too busy bickering and being greedy to find us actual answers and a cure or at least sound,consistent treatment. And in the same society that worships celebs like the travoltas, they had a real opportunity to raise awareness on a decent level. And they shucked it in the name of their beloved L Ron. Do some research, get informed, get involved, and help a family affected by autism instead of sitting here singing the praises of a couple of celebs who could not care less about you, and look as if they didn't care more about their own child than their cult.

I am a christian. I have to say I do not know everything about it. I really hope that his son is going to heaven. I'm thinking that he probably wasn't saved. But maybe because of his medical condition that he will be allright. I'm not sure if he was able to think what is right or wrong.

That's so sad! I lit a candle at church last night for the Travolta family. I do not understand why Autistic and Retarted individuals are so looked down upon. They are gifts form god. They have no idea they are autistic or retarted and get to be 5-7 years old their entire lives with no worries or troubles of the world. Sounds pretty good to me!

Nobody lived with this family so they have no clue how this boy was treated. Apparently, Jett was a huge inspiration to John and they were always together.
A parent should never have to bury their child. The loss of child is the most devastating thing that a parent can go through.

They have the right to keep his diagnosis PRIVATE! It is no one's damn business what their child had or did not have. Secondly if he did have some developmental delay taking him out in public in chaos, especially the chaos famous people experience, may have been torture to Jett. It was probably IN JETT'S BEST INTEREST to not have him out in large crowds no less in front of ruthless paparazzi! It may have been too much for Jett to handle, since typical ADULTS have trouble handling the attention/harrassment. I think they did their best as parents to protect their son and his privacy. It is unknown if he could speak and likely they just wanted to shield him if the rumours are true and he had PDD - Pervassive Development Disorder. They're are varying degrees of autism and there is always hope. I can only imagine their heart break since this tragic event. Peace be with them during this difficult time.
I know that there are claims he had autism, and I guess that's up for debate, but he sure seemed autistic. A couple times I watched the videos that you can find on the internet from a Travolta family trip to Paris. I watched quite a few times how they dealt with their son. I noticed that they were "on" him, there was always a hand on him, John kept him close, lots of eye contact to him. Them getting him in the vehicle seemed like it was first and foremost, keeping physical contact with him. It really didn't seem like they were ashamed of him, but more like they were concerned for him. To me it looked like they were "handling" him in the best way they could when they could to ease him through unfamiliar (to him) situations. Just my humble opinion. No matter how weird/cultish they are, their grief must be wrenching.

About Scientology: The only time I hear about the subject of Scientology is when Hollywood-types such as John Travolta or Tom Cruise are mentioned. It's as though (some) actors get bored with their lives and do something that is ear-catching and give them a 'sense of purpose.' I will ask again: where were all family members and why it took so long to find him? This truly perplexes me.
John Travolta said that his son had been having health problems since he had an uncommon illness at a very young age. He said that Scientology "treatments" had improved his health. It was reported he was not on any seizure medicine. I can only hope that if that was the case it wasn't because Scientology didn't approve of Jett having them. If that is the case, I would think the Travolta's may need to rethink their priorities. My prayers go out to grieving family.

SEEKTRUTH: As a mother of a child with epilepsy who allows her son independence to go to the bathroom the seizure and subesequent fall happened in moments I am sure. I have been in the same room as my son when he has had a seizure without warning and fell. Because the medical profession doesn't truly know what causes seizures and their exact mechanisms there is no cure. You just keep trying different meds until something works sometimes no matter how much meds, diet change etc. you try the seizures are never fully controlled. So you balance the risk of a seizure with trying to give your child the best posible life they can have despite the epilepsy. We are not typical parents we allow our son to do a lot of things other would never dream of (rock climbing for one) and every doctor we have ever seen (it is close to 100 now) have been so impressed on how our dev disabled son is able to live so normally despite his issues.

My point is it is not neglectful that they allow their son the freedom to go to the bathroom independently. Also he was not there long according to the family the police reports were wrong. This would not be the first time the Bahamian police spoke out of line for publicity look at the Anna Nicole mess. So I would believe the family in this. I believe the seizure and fall happened so quickly there was nothing that could have been done. As a parent of a child with a seizure disorder it is the worst fear that your child will have a seizure fall and hit their head, drown etc. I think people assume because they are celebrities that they know everything there is to know about a situation and make ingnorant comments. No one has a clue how Jett was being treated and seriously it is no one's business.
cont:Another point I want to bring up is that this type of accident is so common that regardless of him having epilepsy it could have happened. Typical people kids, adults, elderly fall in the bathroom. I have myself more than once I might add and it is easy to hit your head on something huge and heavy and be injured. Should all people bring a buddy into the bathroom just in case since it is common? Jetts chance of being injured is 3 times more likely but still statistically it is very small. You have to weight those statistics against giving him some sort of normality in his life. His father is a pilot and there are risks with that should he never been allowed in a plane? The risk of death in a motor vehicle accident is way higher than what happened to Jett. Should we all stop driving? Life is full of weighing benefits to the risk and allowing Jett to go to the bathroom alone at night is not irresponsible parenting IMO.
