Obama Snubs The Gays Yet Again!

Barrack Obama has proved to us, once more, that he's a crafty, fake politician, just like everyone else that came before him.
Screw the principles of equality for all!
For the second time in less than a month, Obama has thrown the gays under the bus yet again.
Back in December, the President-elect decided to invite Orange County, CA minister, Rick Warren, who likes to pepper his sermons with ignoramous, homophobic-tinged rhetoric, to deliver the inauguration prayer.
Then, in a typical politician move, we saw backpedaling from the President-elect.
In what appeared to be a peace offering, Obama invited openly gay bishop Gene Robinson to deliver the opening prayer at the big, star-studded, HBO televised kickoff inaugural celebration event at the Lincoln Memorial on Sunday.
But then, guess what?
Obama's people told HBO to cut Robinson's prayer out of the HBO telecast.
When asked for an explanation, HBO said via email, "The producer of the concert has said that the Presidential Inaugural Committee made the decision to keep the invocation as part of the pre-show."
Given that most Americans would watch the Lincoln Memorial celebration on TV, the decision NOT to broadcast the prayer by Robinson is something we and many others see as another slight.
AND, according to reports from people who were out at the Lincoln Memorial event, a lot of the people at the concert did NOT hear Robinson either. Apparently, there were sound "difficulties" and most of the estimated 500,000 in the audience could not hear his invocation. Only those very close to the stage could hear.
We bet Rick Warren won't be stifled the way Mr. Robinson was!

Obama is a politician, which is basically unanimous with corrupt. He cannot please everyone all the time. Not only does he have to live up to the fact that he is the first black president, but he also has to attempt to sort out the mess of the war in Iraq and the failing economy (not to mention what is going on in Israel.) The Bush regime left him with so much on his plate that there is no way he can kick start his presidency by adressing all of the issues he promised to during his campaign. Im sure that he will fight for gay rights, but to be honest our country is in such a shit hole right now that it is, understandably, not one of his priorities. This doesn't mean that he is a homophobe or against gay marriage or a bad president, and frankly I think that is irresponsible for someone with as much influence as you have to post that he is doing anything other than the best that he can under very difficult circumstances. No person or president can please everyone all the time. We will never have equality in america or any other capitalist country… and since i think we can all agree that history has shown us that communism is an ideal that cannot be attained, we should all just accept that our government will inevitably dissapoint us and move on.

Just because Obama doesn't agree with your political views on one thing doesn't mean that he is "just another corrupt politician." He stands for change, but no one ever said that he could change everything. You need to realize that Obama is not corrupt- our government is just not as balanced as people perceive it to be. There are certain issues that people in the country will always be divided on and gay rights are one of them. You can't expect him to change things right away- he isn't even in political office yet. Aside from all this, government is largely controlled by interest groups and there really is nothing we can do about it. All in all, I think you need to realize that Obama is one man, and on the day of his inauguration, I'm sure he does not want conflict, which that broadcast would surely bring about. Why are you making this an issue about homosexuals? Can't you step back and appreciate the day for what it is?- A black man getting sworn into the presidency, something we never thought that we would witness. So stop whining about this one thing and "losing faith" in Obama because he still stands for change and he still has time to make it happen.
That story came from a blog, much like yours where lets be honest, the information is not always exactly on point and factual. I went over to GLAAD where they make no mention of this and in fact have a story about how Obama just named an openly gay man to a post in his administration. He cannot be everything to everybody. Yes the Rick Warren pick stung, but he is trying to reach out to the right as well as the left. Would rather have had McCain and Palin? Seriously. I was at the Inauguration concert, and there weren't any sound problems during the prayer. Occasionally one speaker would go out for a second at various points during the concert (not a big surprise considering how many jumbo screens and speakers were set up across the National Mall), but by no means was there some audio conspiracy to prevent people from hearing Robinson's prayer. We could all hear it just fine, and he received lots of applause from all of us!! It's completely untrue that most of the audience couldn't hear his speech.
Hate to say I told you so but most Americans never researched this President. Many of the young people I spoke to said they voted for him because he was a charismatic leader—-Hilter was a charismatic leader folks. Lets hope he isn't elected again for a 2nd term.

Right now, we have a lot bigger fish to fry than gay rights, Perez, remember that, please. Look… stuff like invocations on TV? Can polarize people, and that's not what we need right now, we need to unite. Cool it, please.
I just want to say that you CANNOT please everyone… Why all the negativity? Why do people feel that just because Obama chose Rick Warren, a popular Christian novelist and reverend to say the opening prayer that all of a sudden Obama is 'slighting' the gays?? That is total tom foolery! You can not please anyone!! Gays are in the minority and most christian leaders do not condone homosexuality, so one can only conclude that the chances of getting a popular reverend to say the opening prayer that EVERYONE is going to be happy with is slim to none. Someone was bound to have a problem with it whether he is for or against gays!! So why use this as an opportunity to say that he pretty much slapped you in the face by having him open up the ceremony with a prayer. Sounds like some monkey doodle drama and paranoia to me!! Personally, I think there are bigger and more important things to worry about. Everyone is praying to the same God, even the gays!!
Perez, you had to know that saying anything bad about Mr. Obama would trigger this sort of response. We are so enchanted with the guy, it's actually scary. People, in general, think it's a sin to be critical of the guy. How can we be 100% behind a politician? It's okay to disagree, and in fact, is healthy! It was blind faith that got us into Iraq — public opinion was for going based off of the Administration's hat tricks.
My problem is, it should be welcomed to point out what Mr. Obama might be doing better. He has really never shown that he understands or empathizes our fight. He has hired gays, yes. Big deal. He's walked back on DADT, as well, and he'll hide from Civil Unions. It's what he does. There are "larger problems" for all of America, yes. But, he should be able to multi-task and care for ALL Americans. This is what is required through the Constitution, the Bill of Rights. It isn't right we are required to jump through extra hoops to care for our loved ones, file our taxes, enroll our children, talk to our employers about benefits. We aren't equal. Please. We fight and defend our country too — which is more than most people on this board. So, talk to me about it not being a big deal. Go pick up a weapon and defend your country and the freedom for which we stand. What do we stand for? What a bunch of assholes on this board.

I bet all you Obama supporters might be second guessing your choice…wait until everyone sees he is not going to change a damn thing other than raise taxes, thats what democrats are all about. 1. it's not about "drinking the kool-aide" if you do the research about a candidate and support them..there are plenty of people who follow candidate blindly (both democrat and republican)

Governmental power and heads of state are never what they seem to be. A great illusion was created around Obama, a kind of shiny soap bubble, but actually he is no different from any other elected leader and he will have to take his cue from the real powers that be. Time to grow up and learn how power and money really work at the national level, now and all down through history.
