Hard to believe | People actually eat that junk, well they won't make money with me, that food is horrible. The hamburgers are not even made with real meat, it's a filler, doesn't taste like a real burger. Vomit is right !

I had the joy of spending one day finding out how meat comes from cow to mcds. trust me, the sight of rats gnawing on the bottom of blood dripping meat is enough to put you off dollar menus

I always wondered why poor people where so fat, its not that they are lazy it's because the only food they can afford is soooo fatting.
If Mickey D's profits soared that much in 2008, it explains why so many American's are OBESE. The food is laden with fat and cholesterol and should be avoided by everyone…cheap or not. Fresh fruits and veggies don't cost that much and are alot healthier than a "Big Mac with Fries".
Everyone who lost their job today can go work there now! At least they won't have to worry about getting laid off.

this is a disgrace. healthy food is a life necessity. no one wants to pay for good food - but the consequence is that we ALL have to pay huge for the (preventable) poor health of our country.

Oh where was I when Ray Crock was looking for investors into a "crazy" scheme to have identical hamburger joints all over the U.S. - ummm that's right, I wasn't born yet. Damn.
Oh, great - McDonald's is making major bank during this recession. The end result? A rise in obesity, diabetes, and other serious health related issues. That's a hell of a trade-off for a cheap meal…

its basic economics. mcdonald's is a substitute good…so in this horrible recession people are probably eating mickey d's instead of more expensive food bc its cheap. its like resorting to spam because steak is so pricey.

Love for people to buy more McDonald's $$$$$. As an investor in their stock, I like to see people buy them though I never eat them. Well, actually, I don't eat any fast food.

It doesn't surprise me as anyone who would normally eat a medium priced restaurant meal is downsizing to the next price range - hence Starbucks losing business and MDs gaining. My kids have the occasional happy meal as a treat - it certainly is not good as an everyday meal though.
Fanfuckingtastic. We bought Mickey's stock last year when we saw this recession looming. Ka ching!!! Don't have a lot but I know we've done well with it. Too bad their food is so bad for you. Almost makes me feel a little guilty. Almost.
While McDonald's is unhealthy, it's cheap! It makes sense that their net profit went up when the economy is suffering–it's the cheapest meal people can afford!
