This is great news!!!!
Colombia is now treating everyone equally.
On Wednesday, Colombia’s Constitutional Court ruled that same-sex couples will now receive the same rights as straight couples in common-law marriages.
According to the decision, gay couples in Colombia will now be entitled to a dozen of the rights that straight, unmarried couples have been receiving for years.
Gay couples will now be entitled to inheritance, health, pension, and social security rights.
The decision came after several of Colombia’s prominent LGBT and Gay Public Interest groups filed a suit last April.
Only one other Latin American country recognizes same-sex unions and that’s Uruguay.
Hopefully other countries will follow suit!
