Joe Francis was arrested yesterday after showing up 5 hours late to a preliminary court hearing. U.S. District Judge S. James Otero had issued a warrant for his arrest when Francis failed to appear on time.
Francis’ excuse? Oh, the flu.
But Judge Otero had no sympathy for the Girls Gone Wild founder and had him hauled off to the pokey.
Francis is accused of failing to pay taxes on more than $20 million in business expenses, and faces 10 years in prison if convicted.
The trial is scheduled to commence in March. Monday’s hearing was scheduled at his law firm’s request to be removed as Francis’ legal counsel in the case.
Looks like his law firm is jumping ship!
