The last two Madonna concerts I went to it was filled mostly with women ages 18 to about 35…and then their gay best friends…there were also plenty of straight men dragged along by there GF's. But yea Madonna doesn't really promote much of her old stuff and when she does she updates it…so in that respect the audience was mostly teen girls and gays ages 16 - 35 or so…no oldies lol

Madonna may have the distinction of being the biggest selling female of all time, but that statistic should be taken with a grain of salt. In the U.S., where SoundScan tracks record sales, Madonna's later albums haven't been as successful as her earlier hits (the RIAA also reports Barbra Streisand having sold more albums in the US than Madonna). International sales are much more difficult to track, because not every country records sales the same way, and when you're the former head of your own record company, it's easy to fudge sales figures. Not saying she's done that, but it makes you wonder why her record company lost money when she was at the reign; it just doesn't add up. Also, biggest selling doesn't mean most talented; there was a time when Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer had bigger selling albums than everyone else.

Hung Up was successful because of the Abba sample. 4 Minutes was successful because of Justin T. Take out those factors, and those songs are nothing (4 Minutes would be lame anyway with or without Justin). I don't deny her success, but again, since you apparently didn't read my original post, her sales figures are questionable. Again, if she IS the most successful artist, she certainly isn't the most talented…not by a long shot.

I'm speaking more as a music historian rather than someone who hates Madonna (whom I don't). I just question the sales figures. None of her albums appear on any top 10 best selling albums of all time lists…not even in the top 20 or 30. She doesn't even hold the record of the biggest selling album by a woman. Her biggest selling album of all time is the IMMACULATE COLLECTION (a greatest hits album,) and her biggest non-greatest hits album (at least in the US) was LIKE A VIRGIN, and that came out 25 years ago. When she released EROTICA as the first album on her Maverick label, it was her worst selling album at that time (which sucks, cause I actually think that album is UNDERrated), and every album that came out after that was either hit or miss. Sure the misses were hits compared to other artists, but she hasn't had a album after IMMACULATE that sold more than that one. Celine Dion (and no I'm not a fan) apparently sold over 200 million albums to date (along with Madonna), and her biggest selling album and single has sold more than Madonna's biggest album and single. I never said Madonna doesn't deserve the honor; just skeptical, that's all. But I've learned long ago you can't argue with Madonna fans. She could drown puppies or shoot up schoolchildren and her fans would defend her actions.
