After more than a week of silence, alleged girlfriend beater Chris Brown just issued a statement about the incident this past weekend!
He says:
"Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired. I am seeking the counseling of my pastor, my mother and other loved ones and I am committed, with God's help, to emerging a better person. Much of what has been speculated or reported on blogs and/or reported in the media is wrong. While I would like to be able to talk about this more, until the legal issues are resolved, this is all I can say except that I have not written any messages or made any posts to Facebook, on blogs or any place else. Those posts or writings under my name are frauds."

well, I do not know him on a personal level, but it sounds sincere.
I can't say it's the best statement…but I don't think sending Chris all this negativity and hatred is going to help anything. The reason he did what he did was probably due to all the negativity he witnessed as a child with his mother being beaten. And I'm sure his step-dad was beaten or witnessed beatings himself. If you look at almost all drug addicts, abusers, etc…there is usually a chain of negative events leading up to that persons life. We should show Chris love and understanding as to how he came to act out this way so he can truly transcend his violent conditioning and become a better person or else the cycle of violence will continue. Send out forgiveness and love, not more hate and negativity! It is unfortunate for Rhianna yes that she got beat by someone she loves but she will survive and hopefully grow stronger, but Chris really is the one who obviously has been suffering from the greatest pain here.

No one is playing a "god card," folks. reaching out for help- through secular therapy or through religious means– is the first step to getting help. people are human and have rights- whether they are victims OR abusers. in this case, CB is probably both (from childhood). many of these comments are so one-sided and ignorant. people who have trauma often unravel later in life, becoming violent toward others or toward themselves. unfortunately, women tend to turn inward on themselves if they have been abused, and men tend to turn outward. it CB had harmed himself, the public would feel so much sympathy toward him and his state of mind. unfortunately, he acted violently toward another person- which is unacceptable and wrong and deserving of punishment- i agree. but he also still needs HELP. men from violent homes and communities must not be shamed to the extent that they do not seek recovery. please stop being so ignorant, everyone.

Even though we are no longer together, I applaud him for getting help. Chris Brown is hopefully speaking the truth and is seeking help. Hopefully Rihanna is doing okay.

True, he came from an ugly home environment and yes, that sort of thing breeds more of the same- however this will be his one and only public chance at changing the course of violence in his family- as the whole world is watching. He's got the resources and if he's got a True intent, he bloody well better get the education and counselling he needs to prevent physical violence as a reaction to his emotions in the future.
