After remembering U2 is losing their cultural relevance faster than ever, Bono quickly apologized for a jab he made at Coldplay vocalist Chris Martin on BBC Radio!
Bono was on the Beeb's Radio 1 promoting U2's new shiteous album when he let his true feelings fly about Mr. GOOP himself!
"I think he's that good a melodist, but he's a wanker… He's obviously a completely dysfunctional character and a cretin," said Bono on the BBC early Friday morning.

We think Bono's a little cranky over people calling Coldplay "The New U2"!!!

The U2 frontman quickly backtracked, telling the radio show host, "I think they [Coldplay] are a great band and actually, it turns out he’s a great soul as well. Sorry about that. I was just joking entirely."

actually, if you'd have listened to the interview, you'd know the context…he had nothing but praise for CM in past interviews as well…man, i wish you'd document these things better. you can listen to the interview again online at the BBC Radio 1 website. and wtf called Coldplay the new U2?? no one. 'They' only said that Coldplay might take the title of 'Gratest band on earth'…
I'm so sick of hearing Coldplay referred to as the new U2… they sound NOTHING alike!!! Are people deaf? Although I must agree I am not into U2's new stuff, they're getting too political and it's not as good as their "New Year's Day" days! I'll always love Bono though, I like their old stuff, they need to go back to it… PLEASE!!!
