Did you know that in Vancouver, Canada, you can smoke herb in the streets and the cops won't arrest you?
Apparently, everyone in Vancouver is very "green"-friendly.

Did you know that there are smoke houses in Vancouver, such as the Amsterdam Cafe, located on Hastings Street.
Marijuana is still bad for you. It can make you dissociative permanently. It can make you paranoid badly, so paranoid that you scream for hours.
It also screws up your lungs just as badly or worse than cigs since you inhale it deeper into your lungs.
This is not a "fun" drug, and the fact that so many people/idiots think it's "cool", is ridiculous. It is NOT cool.
It also can make you permanently unambitious.
Is that the choice you want for your life?
Here in Toronto, there is a pot paraphenalia shop called Roach-o-Rama, and in the back there's an outdoor patio cafe called "The Hot Boxx"… yeah you guessed it, you can smoke herb there to your heart's content. The cafe even supplies rolling papers, trays and matches! You ahve to bring your own, and they have strict rules (ie. 18+, no buying, selling or mooching, etc…)
As an aside, that place serves the BEST smoothies in town! You can buy them by the pitcher.

I live in Toronto and we have this little cafe in Kensington Market where you can smoke pot. However, you can't go there and sell weed. It's pretty chill, except they try and sell you butter tarts for $ 2 a piece…….and you end up paying because of the munchies.
You can smoke pot in Quebec, they won't mind, but don't go smoking it in front of the police cars…
And even if they catch you, they will only destroy it and that's it.
it was decriminalized for a short time in Ontario as well, which meant that you were able to have small portions. but is no longer so. one day again… god bless canada.

I'm from Montreal and you can smoke anywhere without getting into trouble. the cops cant even arrest you if they see you smoke, to be able to arrest you, they have to catch you sell weed. And you can have over half a pound on you and its not enough to arrest you, its considered as "consommation personelle", like your own personal stash lol. Montreal c'est la meilleure ville au monde!!
In the netherlands, where I come from, it is legal to smoke cannabis in the streets, on parties, in pubs,.. Everywhere! And on every street corner you have cannabisshops (coffee-shops as they are called) where you can buy your merchandise. Jealous?

Cops in Canada have better things to do than arrest, book, process and prosecute people smoking a bit of MJ and only have "personal use" amounts. They may stop and search you to make sure you're not a trafficker that's selling, and you should probably not be caught anywhere near a schoolyard, but otherwise they couldn't care less. It costs too much to put someone through a trial (not to mention imprison someone) for something like that, and Canadian lawmakers don't believe that you should have a criminal record for life for something as innocuous as "herb".

I live in Vancouver, Canada and while ppl smoke a lot of dope here, it's not fine and dandy to walk around smoking a fat one. Chronic is very much illegal here but the chances of you getting arrested on ur first time caught is highly unlikely. As Sara T says….VANCOUVER ROCKS!
I am from Vancouver and it is true cops will not arrest you AT ALL…the most they will do is take it away….but then they probably go smoke it!!!!! If you get caught growing it there is a fine and you get 24hrs to clear ur house before they even come and check it!!!!! no charges or anything!!!!!!

Duh!!! It's basically legal in BC, and in Toronto - Kensington Market has it's very own hash house or head shop. They sell hemp stuff, bongs, paraphinilia, etc. There is a restaurant in the back and a really trippy patio where everyone smokes pot. It's called the Hot Box Cafe.

As great as the ganja is out here in Vancity, you cannot walk around smoking it legally. People do smoke at the bus stop and other places but you got some balls to smoke it when 5-0 is around.

Vancouver does have a scary East side…I live in an area called Gastown and it is pretty bad. If you come to visit, stay away from Main and Hastings, but the rest of the city is absolutely wonderful.

It is NOT Legal! But it is true that in Canada in general they don't see pot as a hardcore drug and our friends in BC have told us that lighting up in public isn't out of the question. But I would be careful (esp as an American or other non-Canadian) to just light up a doobie (showing my age with THAT term!) and smoking weed in public. Canada is Cool!

Every Canada day there's a HUGE ralley outside the Vancouver museum and a massive cloud of smoke looms over our fair city…the cops love it! They just stand there and watch us! It's still illegal to walk around with it…police will still give you a hefty fine if you have it in your possession for personal use. Basically it's not legal…it's decriminalized here in Canada. If you're caught selling it or growing it…off to jail you go.

Same story about smokin' in Montreal… green became illegal when alcohol became illegal - during prohibition. Why this law was never reversed, I don't know… seems pretty archaic to me.

Im from Vancouver and we have a parade on 4:20 in downtown vancouver on the steps of the art gallery and everyone smokes weed and theres cops everywhere but no one ever gets arrested or anything, the cops are mostly there for decoration.

Um dude, the whole weed in the streets thing is not exclusive to Vancouver, where as I am not too sure about Toronto, you can definitely pull that kind of shit off in Montreal.
The Quebec judicial system does not see it fit to arrest and prosecute pot smokers as it is a waste of precious tax dollars to incarcerate people for it when we don't have room for the real criminals in our prisons already.
