WOW whoever said long live Days of Our Lives.. just wow, you obvs don't know good soaps when you see them. Guiding Light is historic and has actually been really good lately.. You think they could fight a little harder for it being that this show has been in existence since BEFORE television was even created!!
this show has been passed down in generations from my family. my grandmother started watching it when it premiered as a radio show. its too bad this show is going off the air just because of its historical value to tv. over the years its got worse and worse with all the main characters wanting out of their contracts.

Wow i never thought i'd see the day where one of those long soap opera's get axed….
soaps may not be mensa material — but a 70 year run on radio and tv deserves a bit of respect
i'd rather watch the test pattern than another reality or game show

I refused to watch it ever again when I heard they were going to kill Richard. Best soap love story EVER was between Richard and Cassie. I was pissed and this was years ago. I'm still bitter…
I have been watching this show for over 25 years! (I am only 33), but my mom has watched it since it was only a 15 minute serial. A shows that has been on for 70 years deserves a bit more respect from CBS and P&G. The new filming style is kinda fun (and has been copied by other shows) but the writing has gone way down. The great characters deserve better. A mass firing and reworking of the writers would be a better idea than canceling the whole show.

WHEN A SOAP OPERA GETS MOVED TO THE MORNING TIME WHEN NO ONE IS WATCHING..IT'S PRETTY INEVITABLE THAT IT WILL BE CANCELLED!
Guiding Light is the longest show on TV not just daytime. I have a special place in my heart for this show. I watched as a kid with my mom and still watch it everyday and DVR it and I am now 26. The show has gotten a lil worse throughout the years, but I still watch it and am still a loyal viewer…I have faith! It still comes on at 2 in New Orleans, so I don't know about all the people saying it sucks so it comes on early. I really hope they decide to extend the show…I feel like its part of me!!!
Hey CBS - I wonder what other crappy shows you'll be replacing it . Guiding light was crap and I imagine you'll replace it with even more crap..
This is sooo sad. I hope it's not true. The is the oldest show on television. At least let it get to 75 years! Then we can call it a run. Thanks for posting. this means a lot to me. I'm surprised at how many viewers there are. This is the show that wanted me to get into the soap industry!
Guiding Light was my babysitter when i came home from school everyday. U will be missed!
My mom started to enjoy this show when it was on the radio and I've watched it for as long as I can remember. If it gets dropped I'll seriously miss it. What a bummer!

Hahaha Alan has had so many affairs and my mom and i couned he's been married over 20 times! haha I LOVE Guiding Light. But they do need more eye candy on there. It's not cancelled yet so KEEP WATCHING to get it those ratings!

Good who cares. TV should put on edgier stuff during the day that appeals to all us employed/half employed folk. I mean what else are we gonna do look for jobs?
Being that is CBS, it will probably be replaced with CSI: Daytime!
