A Worthwhile Cause

"DonorsChoose.org is a simple way to provide students in need with resources that our public schools often lack. At this not-for-profit web site, teachers submit project proposals for materials or experiences their students need to learn. These ideas become classroom reality when concerned individuals, whom we call Citizen Philanthropists, choose projects to fund.
Proposals range from "Magical Math Centers" ($200) to "Big Book Bonanza" ($320), to "Cooking Across the Curriculum" ($1,100). Any individual can search such proposals by areas of interest, learn about classroom needs, and choose to fund the project(s) they find most compelling. In completing a project, donors receive student thank-you notes, classroom photos, and a teacher Impact Letter."

at least your putting your fame to good use and making people aware , rather than taking the piss out of a certain 16 yr old.

Perez, thanks so much for your kind words and enthusiasm about DonorsChoose.org. To date, DonorsChoose.org has engaged over 115,000 individuals to deliver over $30 million in resources to predominately low-income U.S. public school classrooms (ranging from books to computers). We hope your readers take a moment to check out this 'worthwhile cause' by visiting us at www.donorschoose.org. - The DonorsChoose.org Team
I love Perez and all things gossip but my first love is children! I am a pre-k teacher and haved received materials for my class twice now through Donorschoose. This is a wonderful site and you can actually see the differences you are making in these children's lives. It is hard to provide the students with dynamic learning environments especially in high poverty areas. Many teachers struggle using their own money for materials. Getting extra help financially to provide wonderful learning opportunities in the classroom is hard to come by. I encourage all of Perez's fans to donate something to a teacher on this site. Help make our job alittle easier!!! Thank you for featuring this site, Perez. You rock!
Hey, all. So I was a recipient of over $600 worth of calculators for my inner-city math classroom. Trying to teach high schoolers math when neither they, nor the school, had the money for calculators was next to impossible. Within three months, Donorschoose had gotten me a class set of THIRTY. Awesome organization, plus you get thank-you notes from the kids and classroom pictures! Love it!
I just donated to a middle school science class. There's nothing like giving to a good cause to make one feel like a quality human being! I think this was a really cool choice of charitable organization, Perez–thanks for posting.
You should definitely check this out and donate to my classroom!!!

Thanks Perez for promoting DonorsChoose. I've used is and was wonderful. It really helps teachers out a lot and the kids get really excited about it.
I sent him a link to this in August 08 and just now it comes up. I doubt it was my lone email. Hopefully he posts this out of the goodness of his deep hole of a heart and doesn't take money to inform people of charities.
Anyway, I'm glad it go posted on here, it's great exposure.
