Who responds like that in an interview? Next we'll see him on Hollywood Blvd. dressed as Angelina trying to sell vials of his blood. If he's on drugs, he needs some good rehab, if not, he needs months of intensive full time psychotherapy. Or nothing will be done and we'll all be here ready for the next train wreck Perez will post here.
Wow, the interviewer deserves a lot of credit for showing such professionalism and tact while dealing with Billy Bob's embarrassing behavior. I feel bad for the bandmates who are with him during this interview. Even if you don't like how you are introduced, you still need to show some consideration for the other members in your band. I'm guessing that his mates may want to see more than just Billy Bob's drumsticks stay out of the studio for the next interview.

that was one of the most uncomfortable things i've watched in a very long time… he asked billybob NO questions about his acting.. only mentioned who he was…. i mean i understand not wanting to talk about that and why he's doing music.. but never did he question billybob on why he was in a band instead of stil acting.. i now have no respect for billybob.. he could have given that guy a decent interview.. but he was a complete dumbass. and now not only is in in canada.. but its all over the US…. i'm sure the band sucks anyway!

JIan is one of the best and most thoughtful and engaging Interviewers on CBC, and his National program remains a point of focus in the Canadian arts and culture scene. You may not like him, but he definitely isn't a joke.
I am so distrurbed by BB behaviour that I cant even finish watching the whole interview to see the part where he flipped out. It is that bad from the begining. His poor band mates. What bothers me most about Billy Bob is that he demands to be put on the same level as Tom Petty. Beyond his wildly antisocial, psychopathic megalomania, this comparison just hurts. Billy Bob's music is wholly mediocre–fun, skilled, atmospheric, fine. But mediocre. Nothing new; nothing shimmering; –a bland, overcooked reproduction of a sound that was born raw on the stick. Tom Petty, on the other hand, has written dozens of songs that have become American staples, enduring beds of sonic comfort, aural pastoral symbols. On top of this, the very fact that Billy Bob is put off by ANY mention of his acting career is highly paradoxical; for the interviewer didn't have to even mention Billy Bob's past to create knowability. EVERYONE KNOWS WHO YOU ARE BILLY BOB. YOU WROTE AND DIRECTED SLING BLADE. You were great. Now you're a "music historian" who can't accept that we are all partially imprisoned by the vacuum of past identity. What a shame. I really did used to like the guy before seeing this. I always kind of new that he was different but that was fine until now and he acts like this. He really feel badly for his band and what they must have to deal with. That had to have been so uncomfortable. If they are not having a good time while they are touring and doing interviews then really, WHAT IS THE POINT OF IT ALL???? First, the interviewer keeps his cool because he's in Canada and that's cool. Secondly, to call this a "blow-up" is absurd, it was barely a blip. Third, BBT is a nut and that comes through clearly. The fourth point, and this is where things get really, really funny, is that BBT refers repeatedly to Tom Petty - as if!

Ohhhhhhh I just figured out something that has been the case all along, Billy Bob is a mentally retarded hill billy…that's been the irony all along!
This interview made me so mad I had to create a profile just to comment on it.
First of all, can anyone on here please create a new word, something that kind of means d.b., but much, much harsher, since that word doesn't even begin to cover his ridiculous behavior?
Second, how ironic is it that his tantrum here is supposedly over the fact that he doesn't want his acting career to overshadow the other band members and rob them of attention, and yet, he manages to put the spotlight right back on himself with this crazy divatude?
(And, btw, what a slap in the face to anyone who has ever supported him as an actor and contributed to his fame and wealth, that now that he's decided that part of him is irrelevant he wants to pretend it doesn't exist. If he really wants to be Tom Petty, you have to earn it !! Pay your dues - not act because that's what you feel like doing at the time, and then all of a sudden feel entitled to be taken very seriously as a musician. )
In my fantasy world, where douchery of this magnitude is punished in a tremendously satisfying and deserved way, the Boxmasters, or Boxcutters, or whatever they're called, would host a jam session in BBT's garage, and a firefighter, who just happens to have decided that he wants to now be a serious musician instead of a public servant, would bring his harmonica and sit in on a couple of songs. Then, an amp would blow, starting a fire that quickly spreads and surrounds Billy Bob in a ring of fire (for that matter, I hope Joaquin Phoenix would be standing right next to him). Everyone would look at the former firefighter turned harmonica player and yell, "Fire! Fire ! " The former firefigher would look Billy Bob dead in the eye and say, with major attitude, "You were instructed not to talk about that sh*t. I'm a harmonica player, and I have been all my life. I'm really a harmonica music historian. Would you ask Tom Petty to put out a fire?"
And the whole place would explode in flames, MacGruber style ………….
Not a Billy Bob fan at all but I really just think that he doesn't want his acting career to be mentioned so that he's the BIG star of the band when the band mates (who barely got a word in with that interview) are doing way more then himself. So I kind of think either he's not wanting his acting talked about for the sake of his band mates or maybe they told him not to mention it……..or maybe he's just a wanker and want's all of the attention and sure as hell got it.
