Re: Sasspants – Like alot of people in this world who are probably not as perfect as you, Nicole probably didnt know much about what was going on and now that it caught her attention she is trying to make a difference, trying to help. I was unaware of any of this until I read this post. Sometimes it takes a famous face to get the word out there. Im sure if a regular person would be talking about this crisis people would not pay attention as much but since it's a celebrity, they take notice. It's a positive thing. I dont know why everyone is hating on Nicole or putting her down. At least she's getting the word out there. Better late than never

Wow, I definitely have never heard of these specific issues. That is so horrible and I hope we can change this so that there is no more rape and crime in the congo. I think what they are saying is very important, but there is no need to compare suffering in the beginning of the video. No one can compare one suffering with another it just delegitimizes it.
As with blood diamonds, once these issues come to light, the violence stops because we DO have the POWER. NOT the coorporate giants. US. THE PEOPLE. And yes, "minerals" are a big deal. What the fuck do you think every single thing in the universe is made of? Just because something is manmade doesn't meant it magically appeared out of thin air dip-shits, it's made from things that come from the earth. Ever hear of titanium and tungsten? It's in fucking golf clubs for cristsake. There are places where these minerals are mined that do not promote violence and atrocities againgst humanity. And that's all this video is trying to say. We actually have an impact on the lives of other human beings in the world, and in our stubborn refusal to acknowledge this painful truth, we are just as responsible for the crimes against humanity as the people performing them. *steps off soap box*

It's really great that Nicole's sheding light on this horrible situation and making us aware. Her statement on "going green", however was incorrect though. River Phoenix, for example, was being an activist and spokesman for "going green" and the environment 20 years ago before it was "Hollywood". Think maybe Leo took a cue? And the Native Americans were LIVING green hundreds of years before that. It's not a new subject, it's only new to those who chose not to listen.
That's crazy - good for her for helping to bring awareness to such a terrible issue.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? After watching and learning from that video, this is all you people have to comment about? What's going on in The Congo is comparable to the world's worst humanitarian crises in history. Rather than worrying about whose cooler between Nicole and Paris, and the legitimacy of her fame why not point your attention to the message. This is a huge deal, and the Congolese people need our help. We started this all in the first place. I urge you all to spend a moment doing something helpful to this cause or any cause for that matter. It's on us now.
