    Pancreatic cancer is one of the suckiest cancers to get. Lack of a known cure isn't due to lack of smart people, it's because this cancer is usually very advanced by the time it produces any symptoms (that is, outward sign of inward disease). Prayers to LP & his family. Hopefully he has a good physician who is able to keep his pain under control without snowing him so he can enjoy what time he has left with his family/friends.

    You don't "get well" with pancreatic cancer. The world will lose a magnificent talent that will never be replaced, but at this point all anyone can really wish for him is peace and freedom from pain. This is a very aggressive and most times inoperable form of cancer, and it is surprising he has survived as long as he has. Love to him and his family.

    It does not sound so good. This is what my father and my uncle both passed away from. My heart is breaking. Not only was this my fathers favorite performer, but I adore him as well.     he's been getting treatment in new york city for a year now and hospitalized for a large part of it. the fact that he's not getting treated in nyc anymore basically means that he went back to die in his homeland. he was in horrible shape a couple months ago, so can't imagine what he's like now.

    Oh, so sad. When I saw him for the first time in San Diego, circa 1979, in La Boheme, I couldn't believe how good he was as Rodolfo. He is just one of the best tenors in the last century, just behind Enrico Caruso. My dad had pancreatic cancer and lasted less than a year…at least Pavarotti got a few extra years because of the surgery. He will be missed. Thanks for everything, Luc!

    I met the man long ago when he did a concert in San Diego. I have never met anyone like him since….so gracious…so charming…such a gentleman…and when he spoke to me..he clapsed my hand and looked me in the eye. There is only one Pavarotti - his songs will live forever.
