The Newly Crowned Miss USA Also Speaks Out On Gay Marriage!

In addition to scoring first place in both the swimsuit and evening gown competitions, Kristen Dalton also knows how to give the right answers to make everyone feel inclusive, like an equal.
On this morning's Today show, Dalton made an appearance and spoke with Al Rocker about winning the title and the whole media buzz behind it.
When asked if she was surprised at the political tones of the interview questions, Dalton responded with:
"Although I respect her opinion, you know, as Americans, the beauty of America is that we all have a right to our own opinion. I'm proud of [Miss California] for speaking from her heart, and she's passionate and what she believes in, and she's proud of herself."
So did Dalton think Miss California received a fair question? The Miss USA winner said it was!
"Absolutely a fair question. It's a social issue that surrounds us every day that I think citizens should be aware of. As a state representative, I think we should be prepared to answer it."
And of course Rocker asked Dalton how she would have responded and if she received that question, and she gave the response of a true Miss USA.
Dalton explains:
"The beautiful thing about America is that we have the right to choose, we have the right to choose what partner we want to love, commit and spend the rest of our lives with. I think that all couples should be able to be recognized legally, and they should be able to enter into a union. Whether or not it should be defined as marriage, I don't know, I'll leave that up to the politicians."

I am a 20 year old music student from Leeds, UK and I would like to express my deepest gratitude for your outspoken and liberal views towards marriage. I am a gay man myself and in the UK we have the opportunity to have civil partnerships. Your site has taken a turn for greater purpose recently, and your bringing this subject into the spotlight has really struck a controversial debate that wasn't discussed enough during the passing of Prop 8.
Marriage is a constitution which a lot of hetrosexuals take for granted, marriage is about love and companionship, marriage is a step in life which people aim for, straight or gay. The divorce rate of hetrosexual marriages is at a peak, denying one same sex marriage is the same as denying hetrosexual marriage the right to divorce and if that were a suggested proposition it would have a landslide loss.
Keep fighting for your cause over there, you KNOW you're not alone and you must receive enough abuse on the matter everyday to think about giving up, but DON'T!! You are now a beacon of hope for gays across the US and even the world. No amount of words can ever express what we as a people owe you now.

If someone is knocked down a notch because of a belief and stance that they take then what does that show? OK - I've come up with a conclusion to all this - call it "Garriage" instead of "Marriage" - Marriage can be between a Man and a Woman, which is different than two same sex people, and that's because ones a man and ones a woman - you see that's different than a man and a man or a woman and a woman, same rights too - you can visit each other in the hospital when you are sick, you can receive health benefits, you can share estates, and you can get divorced. This girls are entitled to have their own opinions, one was born and raised in a conservative environment and the other one is more tolerant about gay marriage, they both have valid points and people should learn to respect them!
I am pro gay marriage cause love is love and it SHOULD and MUST be recognized by every institution but I am also aware that Catholic church and the government are institutions run by ppl who need to be more tolerant, open and concious of the world we are living in now. It's gonna be a long journey but I'm really hoping that it will change for good!
I also must say that I am disgusted at how Piggy is treating this whole situation, taking advantage of it for his own benefits and trying to pimp himself out by trashing this girl! His first defense was attack this girl by calling her terrible names on NATIONAL TV! That certainly gave him a bad name… now he is not letting this go… when was the last time someone saw him on a gay parade or writing a speech on prop 8???
Do we still remember the "letter" he sent to Obama asking him to change his mind on gay rights???? He obviously knows nothing about respect and he showed it one more time!
