In the latest issue of Vibe, Eminem reveals what we already know: he was addicted to pills.
Collective “Duh!” now.
After Rehab Number 1, Em suffered a gnarly overdose when an acquaintance handed him a little blue pill, which turned out to be methadone. This was on top of his little 20 Vicodin, Ambien and Valium a day habit.
He realized he had a problem after he had knee surgery, and, with no prescription for pain killers on account of his addiction, found himself ransacking his house for any leftover pills. That led him to Rehab Number 2.
He goes on to say that “It never once hit me that drug addiction runs in my family. Now that I understand that I’m an addict, I definitely have compassion for my mother. I get it.”
The rapper, however, is back, with his new album, Relapse.
He adds, “Rap was my drug. It used to get me high and then it stopped getting me high. Then I had to resort to other things to make me feel that … now rap’s getting me high again.”
Creativity is a much better high!
