As we mentioned last month, the tell-all book about NY Yankess star Alex Rodriguez, A-Rod: The Many Lives of Alex Rodriguez, written by Sports Illustrated columnist Selena Roberts, hit the stands on Monday.
And it had promised to be good, including juicy details about A-Roid taking steroids all the way back in high school.
However, it seems the expectations were a bit too high.
According to reports, corporate reps for Barnes & Nobles and Borders are not revealing sales figures yet, though many people are stating the sales are nowhere close to what was expected.
Even one security guard at Borders in New York revealed that the sales were "A little slow, to be honest."
As for Amazon.com, it recorded the book as the 61st highest seller of the day. Though a former editor-in-chief of Publishers Weekly said "You want a book like this to be in the top 10 or 25 or so. Sixty is good but not surprising and not extraordinary."
Guess no one cares that much about A-Roid!

Thats because Selena Roberts is a horrible writer. She wrote a fraud report about the Duke lacrosse players saying the raped that women, when in fact they didn't. She never apologized for that. She is just trying to make a quick buck writing about steroids and A-Rod. Selena Roberts is a terrible person who is just out for money.

i honestly think that most people do not know who he is… the only people who really would care to buy this book are older men who like the yankees and some young amateur baseball players…

Saw this author on the Today show yesterday…. gotta say she really didn't sparkle with proven facts. Sure this guy is a poser but if you are going to slame him… get the proof (or at least sound like you have it!)

1) This book came out this PAST Monday, May 4th. The release was pushed up a week when details leaked to The Daily News, so it's been out a few days
2) No one's buying it because the book is awful. It's all hearsay and conjecture and everyone in baseball pretty much denounced it before it was even released.
