She's running around like crazy ho on crack, it nakes sense that she sounds like shit. She's a better performer than she is a singer.
Anyway, I'm WAY more perturbed by her BOOBS than her voice. Is she still breastfeeding?
She is just too old to be dressing like that ,she looked and sound rediculous,AND Paula Abdul?she sucks!!!
Just another example of a non singer who's voice is manufactured by the electronic equipment. You would never see the greats give a shitous performance like this because there voices is the real deal.
This "girl" is no longer young, she is an old hag that sings songs a 13yr old teen girl should be singing. she is too old for a lot of the stuff she does, it's been looking pathetic for years but finally now other pppl are realising this. I'm surprised she wasnt all 90s on us flashing her abs, maybe that second baby got her. I'm sure gwen is going through a midlife crisis for like the last 10 years.
I think they did a great job. They have not performed together for a really long time. She is very physical on stage & of course she will get a little winded. They will tighten up during their tour. ANYONE would be winded during that. I think they were awesome & fun
At least she sang live, not like Abdrool who lipsynched!
i think it was fine, they are all just gettin back into the hang of things.. and to me it seemed as if she wanted to change the song around a lil bit… i liked it.
she sounded like she always has when she sings LIVE! it was awsome and im so so glad they are back! anyone who is talking sh*t either hasnt seen them perform live or is just not a ND fan..
if any of you know no doubt this is what she sounds like when singing no doubt music… nothing horrible… nothing different than usual… No Doubt us moreedgy and fun and upbeat and she is just enjoying herself.
She does sing differently when it comes to her solo music though… ive seen both in concert.
Love No Doubt!!!! Perhaps it was nerves? Or her trying to change up a song she's had to sing a trillion times. I dunno…it could have been better but I'm glad she didn't lip sync.

I don't think she sounds horrible, I think she sounds like someone singing LIVE at a concert. Maybe Perez isn't familiar with musicians that don't lip synch.

I've been saying gwen stefani sounds like shit for years! thankfully some people have developed hearing to realize she sounds like a gerbel being choked, and how bad is it that simply singing live is some sort of watermark? Gwen stefani is more style than substance.
She could never sing live… Ever… don't get me wrong, I love NO Doubt but I just never cared for them live… plus she is getting old…

Ok, so this song came out how many years ago? since this song has come out she matured and even had children, not that she can't hit those notes, but its possible she chose to sing the song lower because its harder for her to sing the song that high nowadays. and PS, its Gwen Stefani, when has she ever really given a damn..No Doubt is known for being one of the most eccentric and "out there" bands of the 90s…Just another reason why we love No Doubt

She was really out of breath the whole time. I thought she sang in tune and her voice, what you could hear of it between breaths, sounded fine. She needs to calm down on the running around until she gets into better shape and used to performing again so it doesn't affect her singing so much. She may WANT to run around like that– but it isn't working for her just yet.

Sorry but go check out Pink, Madonna, Kelly Clarkson, Janet Jackson, Christina, Lady Ga Ga all those ladies sing LIVE and dance and sound fantastic. Hell go see the Rolling stones, Mick can dance the crap off any 20 year old and he doesn't sound like he's getting kicked in the throat. Sorry she's not a singer she's a girl that can carry a tune that ended up in a marketable band… she sucks and always has its the rest of the band that makes her any good.

Its obvious that some of you have never seen No Doubt perform live, including you Perez. You're not used to their "ska sound". They were good. Her voice is still awesome.

Im a lover, not a hater, but ive gotta say, you are right Perez, she sounded like shit last night. She's been off for too long, she needs to train her voice and cardio before going on tour. Its like a sport, if the best player in the world sits on his ass for 5 years, yeah he will have the technique and style but … the performance will suck.

She sounded like same Gwen we'd been listening to all these years. Idol definitely wasn't their best but they kicked ass at bamboozle. Give them a break .. its the first time back in a few years. They'll get back into it as time goes on.

If you don't know No Doubt you wouldn't understand that she's actually singing very well. She's singing her song differently. Especially b/c it's so old. And her shaky voice, well, you'd understand that, too if you have listened to her music.
Besides, this song is not a ballad or pop song…It is ponk rock. It's supposed to be raw.
Love Gwen and ND. Always have and always will. She and the band take risks. If she wanted the perfect synthesized vocals that many muscians strive for nowadays then she could do that but she keeps it real. Go Girl!

i thought she sounded great…i love that she's back to her original ska style and even after having two kids gets back on stage and rocks! She is a little awkward on stage and her voice is unique..but SHE ALWAYS HAS BEEN THAT WAY and that's what makes her Gwen Stefani. I love her. I think she is real, down to earth, and F&%*ing RAD!!! she rocks!!!!!!! quit hating! those who appreciated her unique style and ska band back in the day will appreciate her now still!! she doesn't have to dress and act skanky to be rad, unlike every other female artist these days..i said it once and i'll say it again…I am a huge fan of anyone that can run all around the stage, jump around, and run through the crown and still sing and but on a great performance. Honestly….They suck. I haven't cared for No Doubt in about…oh…10 years? I saw them on I think it was the Today show last week and really cringed at their performance. Gwen's voice is horrible lately. Whatever she's doing with it really sounds like crap.

maybe she should had spent some time rehearsing at the studio before doing lives everywhere…
she sounded very well before… but that was a lot time without training! you can't just rely on your fame and talent - constant work is totally necessary.
I agree not the greatest performance by them but i have to say Gwen Stefani looks amazing and at least they weren't lip syncing

A lot of the problem with her performance has to do with the audio people at AI- they synced up her mic to speech and not with the band, there are different ways you are supposed to hook a mic up to and they did it wrong. Basically she was synced up to talk, she should have been synced with the instruments so it all blended in together.

It would of been better for them to do Hella Good. But I think she sounded a bit off because it was brutally cold at the bamboozle. (first show in 5 years) and she was running around in a tank top and jeans. can't be good for your body and voice. and to Re: ginababe – they opened with Spiderwebs. they ended with I'm Just A Girl right before the encore. And she sounded a lot better at bamboozle than she did on idol. i really think its television. fall out boy sounds terrible on tv but amazing live. just saying.

Obviously Perez either wasn't a fan of No Doubt in the 90's or doesn't remember Gwens' voice when she performed with No Doubt. That's the way she's always sung, "Just a Girl" was from the Tragic Kingdom album, that was their style. There is a difference between No Doubt and Gwen Stefani. And like she explained, she has been pretty busy with her personal life, she's a little rusty.
Unbelievable - I thought she had been possessed by a monkey demon - or perhaps decided to take in some mood enchancing meds that made her bring on her inner freak - it was indeed painful to watch.
