The Gossip's leading lady, Beth Ditto, really went all out!
The band was performing on Day 2 of Radio 1's Big Weekend, which was held at Lydiard Country Park in Swindon, England.
Radio 1's event is the largest free festival over a two-day span with live music across four stages. We're sad we couldn't have be there.
But Beth Ditto represented us queers well!
And apparently Beth got a little too hot on stage, cuz the big lady stripped down, which she's prone to do.
First she removed her top black coat and then lifted up her dress.
What do U think of Ditto's ballsy ball-less move?

I think she's setting a terrible example, not because she looks bad or gross or unattractive, but because she's completely disregarding how unhealthy it is to be overweight. This poor girl's cholesterol is probably in the upper 200s at best, and I'd be surprised if her arteries aren't clogged by the time she's 30. I admire confidence and how she is representing a different idea of beauty, but obesity is just as dangerous as malnutrition. Too big or too skinny, it's irrelevant, because both are an awful example to set.
Re: bananaballerina – It's not so much that she's fat, it's the fact that she is pulling her dress up showing herself (in a NOT flattering way). If Tara Reid were to do this, Perez would say SLUT and everyone would follow suit because it's not appropriate!!

I am overweight. Compared to Hollywood I would be considered HUGE! I could afford to lose some more weight, but my main objective is staying HEALTHY. Curves and stuff are great, but when it gets to the point that one's physique is affecting the health of their lungs, heart and more–thats TOO FAR.
This is just as LOW as glamorizing skinny people and promoting anorexia.

I am disgusted by the level of ignorance and malevolence shown in this comment thread. First of all, I recognize that there is a chasm of difference between the way Perez treats Kirstie Alley (or Jessica Simpson, or Mariah Carey) to Beth Ditto. However, there is a marked difference in how they treat the celebrity media nation and the blogosphere. You get out what you put in. Alley and Simpson are flat-out assholes when they confront the papparazzi and social press. That will come back to bite you every time.
As for this young woman's weight, it's not really any of your fucking business to speculate on her health or attractiveness. By and large, obesity is not a choice. It's not like she's sitting at home mainlining twinkies which is what most of you vicious boney-assed motherfuckers would like to think. Look back in history or in art. Heavy women (and men) were around long before packaged consumer sweets. Long before it was "easy" or socially unacceptable to be fat. And, for many people struggling with the social perception that is so clearly identified here, no amount of sit-ups or walking or jogging or starving themselves will cure that problem. This stigma and accepted discrimination is what makes fat people miserable by and large.
I say good for you Beth Ditto. If you're hot, take it off. Fuck 'em. If they don't want to see it, they better not look.
And, btw, I think this is fucking AWESOME example for little girls (and boys). It's been acceptable for way too long to make fat kids feel like they can't participate or be anything other than wall flowers. We tell them in every way that they're not good enough and that's bullshit. Kids should see adults of EVERY shape and size show the confidence and self-esteem that this artist does on a regular basis.
