Old People Turn Away From CSI

Four months into the new season and reports show that one-time ratings king, CSI, is failing fast.
CSI has been a top five series, and TV's No. 1 drama, for sometime. But as of January, after losing fan favorite William Petersen and replacing him with Lawrence Fishburne, fans have been saying adios and getting their crime drama kicks someplace else.
The numbers don't lie: Back in January, it pulled in an impressive 24.2 million viewers, but now an average of about 15.3 million people are still tuning in. And now it's falling behind "younger shows" like The Mentalist and NCIS in the Number 3 or 4 post.
Sucks to be Lawrence Fishburne. He just got this gig and it seems like now he is on his way out.
But, honestly, how many ways can someone die? How many different kind of murders are there really? We think this has run its course!

Seriously? I'm a long-time fan of the show, and I think Fishburne is a great addition. I'm sorta glad they got rid of Julie Seidel, sort of sorry they got rid of whatsisname the handsome black guy (though from all accounts he was a real douchebag to work with). I miss Grissom, but Fishburne is a really good replacement- just as weird in a different way, and more interesting than the average TV series character.
I have been a loyal fan but the shows are getting slow. i miss Grissom. Don't like Fishburne. I jumped ship on Miami a LONG time ago. i hope CSI picks up or i may have to jump ship on this one and just watch NY.

All shows are formulaic these days. We almost knows what the character/actor is going say before he says his line.

i'm one of the fans that dropped out after William Peterson left…. the show is NOT the same without him…i tried watching the first two episodes but i just couldn't. i went back to my box seasons of the old CSI with Gillllll!
What is the hot old blond chick's name? Marge Hofenfurburger? Who cares, I'd just like to watch her get fucked.
I enjoy it even more with the new characters! Still miss CSI Brown though! I love how they are showing Fishburne's character have a learning curve with the job.

I like CSI: Miami, but why would I want to watch the other CSI shows, it's the same stuff, different players. I like the players on CSI:Miami better. I don't care for Lawrence Fishburne as an actor at all.
It is a very scary show but I love it .Great acting!
Actually, I don't think it is the loss of Petersen or the addition of Fishburne, it has been the writing. They have taken it to a completely different type format/formula, which, I suspect, others like me are not happy with. Personally, out of the three CSI's, I liked this one and NY. CSI Miami is just a soap opera. They have killed more officers, lab explosions, corrupted officials that makes me think that the Miami police department is totally corrupt and Horatio is basically non-involvement. The only thing he does is shows up at a scene as though he is just a cop, not CSI, then tells others what to do. He literally has no purpose except to stand there are remove his sunglasses.
i do nottttttt like this show! i watched it with my mom many, many times and ugh it's so damn predictable.
I don't care, I'll watch CSI until the very last episode! Sure, it sucks without William Petersen but it's still a great show and there's always new ways for people to die!

I don't know about anybody else but I'm sick to death of shows about police and doctors all the time. Aren't there any other professions worth writing about?
don't forget, the internet is killing newspapers and cable and mainstream media period. people are sick of B.S. this is why rupert murdoch and jay rockefeller are waging war on the internet. they want a regulated internet or a glorified cable style internet were they control how many websites you can view based on their content or how it benefits their aggenda or how much a website will pay for its admission into their new model of internet called "internet 2".

CSI jumped the shark with that stupid episode of David Hodges dreaming about the lab chick. It's decline is not the fault of Laurence Fishburne so much as bad writing. His character started off as a dufus and hasn't really made his mark yet.
In my opinion, the end really began when Warrick Brown was knocked off. He was not a big draw but was the only male eye candy. CSI was my favorite but not anymore.

CSI is still strong and I tune in just to watch Lawrence Fishburne!
i really don't think it has anything to do with LF. he's an amazing actor. i think people are just getting sick of CSI
1. it's not a novelty anymore; 2. last time i checked a re-run (5th season or onwards), the episode was all about a Latina running around with her shirt opened to show the cleavage wobbling up and down… Petersen was still there but seems creativity wasn't one of the episodes' forte!!

Perez doesn't like any show that he's not a guest on…if they invited Perez on he would love the show…CSI is by far the best written and acted show on TV right now…funny that you don't mention that for over a year CSI has been kicking Grey Anatomy's ass…you must have a deal to promote them…
all shows drop after awhile-and there are soo many crime shows on tv-and many are competing against each other. I stopped watching it, not because of the change in actors, but before it because yes, no matter what the interaction among the cast is, they are always solving a murder. The other crime shows will get old for me too, but at least there are some crimes where people aren't dead

I dont't agree. CSI is still one of the best shows, and they can still surprise the public with new stories that are genious! Since Lawrence Fishburn started, there were some good episodes. The last ones were not so good, but that doesn't mean the show is bad… I will continue to watch!

The show can't be doing too bad cuz don't look like Larry is missing too many meals.
I love this show to pieces and have for a long time!! If it's coming to an end it will make me really sad. All of my other favorites have ended. I've seen just about every single episode of Vegas, NY and Miami
Thats because the original sucks nowadays.Sarah leaving wasnt anything, but Grissom and Warrick gone, and Catherine, Greg and Nick are barely in it anymore. They wont be around much longer. I like CSI NY best now!

Seriously? I LOVE THIS SHOW! It is my absolute all time favorite show on television. And I don't think any one can really go on ratings anymore. The 'ratings' people should really look at how many times the shows were viewed on CBS.com, and purchased on the DVDs. How many people actually watch shows when they air anymore?? I always watch shows online later.. Seriously who is really held back by what times the shows air anymore?
