It's also been out less than a year and still going strong (curently #4 US, #3 UK). You Madonna fans have such unrealistic standards; you think just because someone is not as successful as Madonna, they're basically non-successful.

First of all, Kanye made this statement in his own blog, which is just that–a blog. So he compared Lady Gaga to Madonna. It's not like he said Gaga is going to duplicate or surpass Madonna's success. You would think Madonna's fans would think it flattering that someone is being compared to her..but no, you get the typical Madonna fan reaction. Anytime a female singer comes out that's actually better than Madonna (which isn't that hard to be) and is compared to her, her fans come out armed with their checklist of Madonna facts and figures (yes we know she has the highest grossing solo tour–now ask us if we care), and make predictable comments ("she re-invents herself", "she pushed boundaries", "she got people talking about sex"). Um..whatever..most of the stuff for which she gets credit has been done before, and people have been discussing sexuality long before she came to scene; we weren't in the Dark Ages in the 80s. And to the person who said Madonna has raw talent–yeah, right. She's been making dance/pop music for twenty-five years, and latches on to whatever is in mode in the dance world at that time. That's not re-invention; that's adaption. When she makes a stripped down album free of electronics or does something completely left-field or astray from her genre (soundtracks or tie-ins to movies don't count), or actually creates a musical trend rather than follow one, then you can say she has raw talent.
