Publicly closeted homosexual, Adam Lambert, and Queen???
After Lambert's performance with the rock legends on the American Idol finale last week, Queen guitarist Brian May told Rolling Stone magazine that the band is toying around with the idea of Glambert becoming Queen's permanent frontman!
Wow!
Says May: "…[Drummer Roger Taylor] and I are definitely hoping to have a meaningful conversation with [Lambert] at some point. It's not like we, as Queen, would rush into coalescing with another singer just like that. It isn't that easy. But I'd certainly like to work with Adam. That is one amazing instrument he has there."
It just goes to show that losing American Idol can be more beneficial than winning in the long run!

MERCURY HAD A CERTAIN WARMTH IN HIS VOICE THAT LAMBERT LACKS. MERCURY ALSO HAD A STRANGE SEXINESS. LAMBERT IT TOO ROUND AND PAINTED-UP TO BE TRULY SEXY.
As soon as I heard Adam sing, I said he reminded me in voice and in stage persona of a bit of Freddie Mercury and a bit of Steven Tyler. So yes yes yes!!! I would love it if it happened
SIGH did Perez even read the Rolling Stone article? I did and that is NOT what he said at all. He basically implied he'd like to talk to Adam about doing a project with the band an not rush into anything. Sure sounds to me like he's talking about a trial gig or special event/recording and then maybe see. And Adam has talked about keeping his options open so think that might be a perfect fit.
Personally I didn't think anyone could make it work with Queen, and that latest (now gone) singer was horrid. But I think Adam woud be AMAZING!!!!
As for his sexuality, why is it SOOOO wrong that he isn't waving a rainbow flag?? It's his personal business and while I couldn't care less what his orientation is, I think it is ONLY HIS CHOICE when or if he wants to go publlic. It's bad enough that his assumed homosexuality likely cost him the title with all those idiotic Catholic groups voting against Adam rather than for someone.
I support and respect Adam if the tell or or if he says nothing. Bottom line, I enjoy his voice and the rest is not my business!!!!!!!!

OMG this would be great! But not permanent Adam has a path of his own but as a revival tour for a summer Queen and Freddie Mercury's memory deserves a tribute revival tour.
Queen is no longer a relevant group. it would probably hurt his career more than anything. Maybe Van Halen is looking for a lead singer?
Thats about all his voice is suited for…as long as he stays true to the originals and doesnt ruin the music like he did with so many other classics.
Don't you think it's rude and way out of line for you to "out" Adam Lambert? Even IF he is homosexual isn't it his own right to let everyone know one way or the other? I thought something like that was a very personal matter. I think that Adam would have been a perfect frontman for Queen…twenty years ago. Adam is fresh and has a ton of new ideas. I don't think he could be happy in a group that are all as old as his parents…

i literally just went though the trouble of making a user account for one reason and one reason only. i have fought the urge to comment on many a story, and have been able to suppress myself from sharing with the world my two cents on MANY issues (as real as they can be on this site)that are very important to me. but this is the post that finally made me do it.
adam lambert as the frontman of queen, would be one of the worst insults to freddie mercury's memory i can think of. the only time i could even bear bringing myself to watch american idol, especially since it has lost almost all relevance and credibility, was during the finale when they sang with queen, and i had to turn it off because it was unbearably painful. no one will ever top freddie. and since adam lambert is certainly a no one, he should take this compliment and lapse of judgement from brian may and try to help him milk and extra minute or two of fame to top off his 15 minutes.

Adam can do what ever floats his boat as far as his music goes. The whole world is out there waiting for him to take a BITE!! I'm sure I'll tune in when that happens. I consider myself the biggest Queen fan that's out there, and the biggest Freddie Mercury's fan as well. And let me tell you, from the very beginning, from the auditions, I had a feeling, that Adam could be capable of singing along with Brian and Roger. Paul just doesn't do it for me, he doesn't have a charisma, he doesn't have great voice, his performances are just ok, but not great. But when I saw Adam with Queen on stage, that gave me shivers. It was incredible. I've always said, and I will say it again, that Freddie is irreplaceable, but Adam could rock Queen fans again.
Way to go, and good luck Adam, I will be buying your albums, no matter what group you will be performing with. You are incredible talent

PLEASE don't compare Adam L. to Freddie Mercury! Yes he sings well but there's no emotional connection. I feel nothing when Lambert belts out his tunes (other peoples' tunes actually). He seems like a show off. "Hey, check me out, I can hit notes others can't!" Who cares! It reminds me of all those 80's hair bands. He's like a mix of Dee Snider (except Dee was being funny with the makeup) and Axl Rose at his most annoying.
And can someone explain to me why, if he's that great, has he never gotten a record deal or never been discovered. For God's sake, how many years has he been doing shows and being an understudy on Broadway(wow, very impressive)?

I think it would be a big mistake. Adam is NOW and new and young, and QUEEN is the past. Once a great rock band (one of the greatest of all times), they are done. Freddie Mercury is gone, but I'm sure the surviving members would love nothing more than a 2nd chance to shine again? Adam is young; shouldn't lock himself in a box, a box earning a fraction (percentage) of the monies QUEEN can make off his talent. Adam's got a Golden Ticket to to go wherever he wants with his talent at this time in his life, and I hope he doesn't stop long enough to help those old guys cross the street. They need him if they are to have a second life as a band, but he sure doesn't need them to make his fortune, nor should he share it with them! Queen? Retire already; step aside, and let the next generation of talent (that is Adam's) have his day in the sun.

I have mixed feelings about it, but I'm leaning towards no. I hope he decides to do this own thing.
Adam would be wise to follow in the footsteps of Daughtry and just go out on his own. I thought early on in the show it would be awesome for him to sing with Queen, but he is too much of a raw fresh talent to join a legendary group and try to remake Queen in their heyday.

I don't even watch American Idol anymore, but after seeing this post I hunted down the video of Adam Lambert singling with Queen and all I have to say is, 'WHOA, FUCKING WHOA!" Freddy Mercury is a musical icon and genius and to come anywhere near his vocal talent is insane. Adam Lambert came damn close. Allen could not even compete in this genre because Lambert throw him off the charts as he climbed them. Craziness.

Adam Lambert is a star in his own right. Hooking up with a band, even the calibre of Queen, would be a mistake.
He has shown versatility in all of his performances and has the talent and charisma to go it alone.

I haven't been into AI since the Fantasia days because it became so boring. I didnt follow this year for the same reason but I'd watch Adam's performances on you tube. It's obvious he WAS this year's Amercian Idol program. I doubt anyone would bother watching if not for him. Although I think it's pathetic that the other guy beat him - I'm glad Adam lost so he will have more artistic freedom. Fronting Queen would be interesting but he doesn't need it. He's going to be one heck of a solo artist - can't wait!!
