After weeks and weeks of auditions, global phenom Susan Boyle was once again competing on the stage of Britain's Got Talent.
Yes, she's got a new makeover. Yes, she just made it through to the finals. But, unfortunately, her performance was too measured and lackluster. It lacked passion and that spark that made her a viral superstar in the first place.
That's what we think, at least.

I used to hate this song (such cheese)–until I heard Susan Boyle sing it.
Damn, girl! Team Boyle.
What the hell do you expect. From the day she made her first appearance there has been nothing but preasure on the poor women. It sounded like she was a bit nervous and I give her full credit for not cracking under it. I think your just jealous because you have no talent but pull people a part like the winner you are!!
Susan did a beautiful job. I think she had a nervous start, but came into it most wonderfully. I really think that no matter how she ends up, she'll have herself a recording contract. If it can happen on American Idol, it can happen on BGT.
I think she is talented but tasteless, how come she sings without even blink… I SHE WAS TIFF AS CONCRET…AWFULL

She was a lot better than her first performance I think.
Perez, have you ever even seen "Cats"? Grizabella, the character singing the song, is frail and neglected and weak. She is begging for a chance to be taken from her misery by being the Jellicle cat chosen to ascend to the Heaviside layer. The canonical interpretation of "Memories" was performed by Betty Buckley (yes, THAT Betty Buckley, of "Eight is Enough"). If you had ever listened to Betty sing "Memories", you would know Susan's interpretation was dead on. If you have any critique, it's in the song Susan chose to perform, not the way she performed it. She was brilliant!
The start was rocky, but I loved it.
I don't think she was "underwhelming" at all. She was probably terrified to go on stage with all the hype people have placed on her.
Please don't deny this woman's talent….Her voice is simply beautiful!! It's about talent, not about the designer clothes or the "Hollywood" look or who she knows. It's about the VOICE.
It's like the Danny's and Allison's on American Idol..They do have the best vocals; regardless of what America voted for.
Please don't discount Susan's ability.

Clearly not the best… seemed a bit nervous and maybe overconfident. It makes you wonder if she simply has a talent to sing certain numbers with perfection… through memorization and practice, but may be unable to deliver with others. Unfortunate but my fingers are still crossed.

definitely not overrated! the spark was still there. this time we knew what to expect so there was none of that feeling from the first time, the press and paparazzi ruined everything.
No Pezzie, SuBo was very good. She started out a little soft but ended on a huge "Bravisimo!"

Honestly, she sounded nervous..you can tell because in the beginning she's holding her stomach trying to get her voice back.
It also had something to do with the song choice.
That performance was whack.
Underrated? Don't think so. Did you notice her pressing her belly at the beggining — to get the sound to come from her stomach (not her nose). I heard 2 off=tunes, but she carried that song all the way to heaven. If anyone on this MB can pull it off — post it on You Tube and see how many hits you get. That includes you Perez!

I think she chose this song because it's beautiful and ironic. Her new life is just beginning. She seemed nervous but landed the ending beautifully!

I agree 100% that her performance didn't have any emotions. And yes, she is overrated totally. People usually don't listen to this sort of singing and now everyone is obsessed with her. Suddenly everyone loves her but no could even name one professional and famous singer that sings ever better. I like her to bits but i think that there are even more great people on britains got talent. But now it's all about her that makes me feel like i don't want to watch the show anymore.

Perez did you actually watch the results show? Susan Boyle came in first place with the public vote. She didn't "Just make it through" as you put it. Diversity were the ones that had to go up against Natalie Okri to stay in the competition.
A PERFECT example of how hype can create a star and how the hype can overshadow the actual talent of the individual. The first part of the first song we heard from Susan Boyle was pretty great and went downhill shortly thereafter but by that point people couldn't get over the fact that an "ugly" woman such as this could sing anything beautiful that they were awestruck from then on out.
This second performance is a complete nightmare. It's off-key, off-timing, and uninspired. I feel bad for her because the 'hype' will soon fade, and fast and boy will she fall hard after all the media and this world has done to 'lift' her up. Poor woman.
it wasn't as exciting because you knew what to expect. but she was and is still incredible, and mad as a box of frogs.

She sang a difficult song brilliantly! Despite what she said, she was obviously nervous, but was still excellent.
Diversity were so much better on the night. If we're comparing singers Grege Pritchard the male soprano and Jamie Pugh the Welsh singer are way better than Susan Boyle they've just had less media attention.
She's not that good. She's good, but overrated. She sang once and half the world was pouring over her. There are better opera singers in the competition who deserve more credit.
WTF?! I could make a better performance than that, at least during the first half of the song, and that's NOT a good thing. And what's with missing the notes in the end? I thought she would be calmer by then and not let the nerves interfer…

secondly she has an unfair advantage due to all the hyped up attention she has received from the states & if people go on you tube & look at the little boy they put through the week after he has had just as many hits as SuBo
thirdly she needs to learn how to sing with her diaphragm not just through her nose as this is causing the poor pronunciation in all her songs
Bad choice of song. She looked like she was wearing curtains. And Diversity deserved better. Susan Boyle is overrated and pityfully arrogant beyond belief. When she was asked if she felt the pressure for her performance she retorted 'what pressure'. Well, I'd love for her not to win after that. She obviously knows she's at an unfair advantage over the other competitors but last night she wasn't amazing. She wasn't amazing in the auditions either. So what an average person can sing? Its not bloody abnormal. Her incredible story can't be any more worthy of recognition than the others. Hollie Steel has the ultimate sob story, so if that's the way to go then she should win. She's a better singer, a hundred times better.

you could tell she was nervous in the way her breath was off in the beginning… she seemed to be feeling her diaphragm at the start trying to settle in…after a few bars and a few bum notes, she seemed to pull it off… i think overall she overcame and that's likely why she had the judges standing….of course our expectations were high…i still love her regardless…anyone hearing her first on the show and then the various recordings from the past that made it online, well we all know she can sing very very well….
I'm just not a big fan of that song. She sang it very well, but it doesn't have the drama of I Dreamed A Dream. It wouldn't have been right to sing it in the same way. I think she did very well.

I think she was great in parts during this performance. A little bit shakey at the start. She was probably nervous. The pressure musta been immense. Fingers crossed for her final performance. I luv her.

No entertainer is ever going to be consistent. I don't think it was the right song. Hell, Give Anita Baker a Whitney Houston song and it may not work. Does it mean she doesn't have talent? Michael Jordan or Lebron James are both Great, but they are even greater with the team that they are given. With Susan, I do think it is definitely the song that she sings. She has to be careful in her choice. It was just ok.

Wonderful performance! Sure, she was nervous but who wouldn't be after all the attention she has received over the past several weeks. The pressure must have been enormous. Remember she is still an amateur on her way to international stardom. No matter what your age or situation, dreams can still come true. Good on you, Susan. Time will take care of the rough spots.
I thought she sang just like any other woman from the WI choir. Very flat in places, overdone vibrato, and to top it all off all of the charm had gone. She was no longer the shy woman who had no confidence in herself. Suddenly she was cocky, aggressive and downright rude when she got through. Doing that hideous dance in front of all the people still waiting to find out if they'd got through was tantamount to screaming "in your face" at them. Then that gyrating she did for Piers….just vile. I don't think she is a nice woman at all, and I hope that the voting public see that now too.

I agree she was underwhelming. She was scared stiff - this time she had ALOT to lose and I think her nerves just got to her. She needs to get her confidence back and practice singing in the dark - her walk from the spotlight to the centre of the stage was terrifying to her and she could barely see the crowd. I'm thinking she'll be used to it next time and should do better.

..i think the same thing that happened to adam lambert on american idol is going to happen to susan. He got so much fame at first, he was under so much pressue, and even though he didnt crack it affected him in the end. He was expected to win and he didnt just because everyone thought he was going to and deserved it. For susan the same thing will happen i think. she got so much fame and in the end she will be blinded by another performer..whether they are better or not.

I felt Susan was a little nervous and reserved initially; it was as though she was thinking about her performance too hard. As the song progressed, she seemed to relax and by the end she hit it out of the park!
people only think shes amazing because theyre surprised.. now thats worn off people can see shes good.. but not the best. definatly not the best in the competition… give the others a chance!!
Absolutely beautiful and every bit as good as Betty Buckley's performance in the original stage show. It is a measured song with a big ending. Just PERFECT! I got goosebumps, always a good sign!
