Gosselin Sister-In-Law Says Stop Watching!

Yesterday was the premiere of the new season of Jon & Kate Plus Eight. The entire hour was filled with tension, awkwardness, and the complete assurance that this couple is headed towards divorceville fast!
But perhaps this all could have been avoided, if we weren't so enamored with the Gosselin family and the show had never happened. So are the thoughts of Kate Gosselin's sister-in-law, Julie.
Jules took to her blog this weekend to explain how we as an audience should abadon the show, as it was never reality and never will be.
She says:
"Since TLC is airing the old episodes, I thought I shed some light on how the show works. We've discussed this before, but it's buried somewhere in the archived posts.
"When the show first started, Kate made a wishlist of things that she wanted, and that became the theme of each episode–the carpet, twin's room, bunk beds, cow, hairplugs, teeth whitening, trips, etc. EVERYTHING that you see them do or buy is completely paid for out of the budget for the show or traded for free advertising. Kate went on and on about saving up for special days, you saw her paying for things, she talked about budgeting, etc. It is all for the appearance that they are a struggling family with 8 children. They needed to be relatable. They didn't pay for any of it.
"The episodes are also staged. Here's how it works…there is a staff of people reading these blogs and they base the shows around what people are talking about. I haven't watched many episodes, but I do know some of the behind the scenes events.
"The Christmas episode from 2007. Producers told Kate that the viewers wanted to see her show appreciation to their helpers. They told her what the episode was going to be. I think they baked cookies and then went caroling (of course this was probably one of their many 'traditions"–those are all fake too). Kate threw a fit. She didn't want to do it, but she did…because they were trying to pacify the viewers.
"Another example is the 'Games Gosselins Play' (I think that might have been the same episode as their 'mission statement'). I actually did watch this one. This was around the time that I started reading discussion boards and finding out that there were many people opposed to the show. It was so obvious that the mission statement was addressing all of the concerns that I had been reading online. The game time was just ridiculous. After the episode, I called Jodi and said, 'what was that?.' She hadn't watched it, so I explained that it came across so fake (at least to me). Jodi was with Kate when she got "the call" about the theme for that episode. Kate said something like, 'so now I have to pretend that I play with my kids.' They also wanted her to pay special attention to the boys.
"Don't believe everything you see. The children are also being prompted to say or do certain things. They signed their lives away to TLC and they will continue to spin the show to keep the viewer's interest. I don't believe this show will go away until the viewers decide that they don't want to be played anymore.
"Of course, you've all figured out that they are showing Kate cook/bake to promote her upcoming cookbook. The show has now turned into a show about a family with a reality show–move to a mansion, cross-over shows, book tour, talk shows…
"I've only watch a handful of episodes. I haven't even seen all of the episodes that Jodi has been in. I made a personal decision long ago to do what I can to give those children the privacy and respect that they deserve. I refuse to watch and participate in something that I feel so strongly against.
"Please don't watch on Monday. You're not going to learn anything new by watching. They will only show what they think people want to see and it isn't real anyway. They will probably drag this out (J&K's 'relationship') for the entire season. They just string the viewers along hoping that they will come back for more."

I suspect that all of you who are saying that the sister-in-law is jealous, clearly haven't been paying attention. How is it that Kate's parents, sister-in-law, brother and best friend, Beth, have all disappeared, and yet Kate is the victim?
She admitted last night that she has been a nag to Jon and regrets that. But if you watched, with Jon away, she turned to nagging and sniping at her own children. When the one boy asked if the frog was candy, she got exasperated and rolled her eyes at the camera treating him like he was an idiot. When she said there was paparazzi, one of the kids asked "what's paparazzi" and she yelled at him.
Kate is trying to build an empire (more books, cookbooks, future movie deal) and her crumbling marriage is hindering her desires. The whole episode was engineered to make you feel sorry for…. I fear, at the expense of her marriage and her children. I will not watch again!
YES I WATCHED THE SHOW…I LOVE THIS SHOW IVE BEEN WATCHING IT SINCE IT STARTED…I JUST THINK THAT THE SISTER-IN-LAW'S ARE JEALOUS CUZ THEY CANT GET FREEBEES AND SUCH.
Hello how many people did not know all reality shows are made to keep people watching? I think it is sad more for these poor kids who will see this someday and be like wow look how screwed up our family was even when there was a script. Sad.
Ok if ppl really HATE the show so much change the channel. I like watching it the kids are so cute… Not only that unless YOU know what it's like to raise 5 kids that are the same age you have no reason to be talking smack on these ppl. For the aunt if she stopped running her mouth ppl would be so curious, my bf watched it on Monday just cuz of all the blogs and dirt mags out there. She calls more attention to it. If she's sooo worried about the kids talking smack isn't making their life easier or any better infact they now have the paparazzi chasing them around thanks to the help from their dear old aunt & uncle… Who care bout getting paid. I only first started watching this show this weekend, some marathon on TLC was showing it all weekend. So i actually watched a couple of episodes. 1st. I don't really see why ppl say Kate is such a bitch. Ya she bosses john around most shows, but she seems very attentive to the kids. John seems a bite kind of just a little slow or like he jusst dont care. 2nd. of course theres writers. Kate even mentioned theres writters in an episode i saw this morning. But I like the show myself.
Anyone who thinks it's ok to exploit these children and that Jon & Kate are wonderful Godly people need to get their heads outta their asses pronto!
I've noticed that the Kate supporters all seem to be in a massive state of denial and I hope they do not have children.
If TLC wants to make this show out to be like "the Nelsons" where the family is indeed related, but the show itself is staged like a soap opera then that's OK, but let everyone in on it. These children are all experiencing life as they see it and live it and how sad would it be if their lives are all a giant lie for ratings. Mark my words, their will be many books written by these Gosselin kids in the future that will make "Mommy Dearest" look like a love-fest!

OK… the sister in law is not Julie… it's JODI!!! The woman who wrote the blog that you are quoting Perez is Jodi's SISTER Julie… and no she is not paid to do this blog and she did not advertise it to anyone she just writes it to speak her mind because JODI knows first hand what is going in with these kids. They ARE speaking out to help these kids.. they need to get them out of this trainwreck that has turned into their lifestyle!!!
Am I the only person who doesn't blame Kate? I mean, yes backing out of the show is probably a good idea. The damage seems done tho. Everyone calls her horrible and a monster but why? Because she does intervews like every celebrity does to try to clear the air. She promotes her book. She's not the first mom to do that. People are bashing her for taking that free tummy tuck. Who cares!? Could you imagine how you would feel with a stomach like that? Honestly, who would pass up that oppurtunity? As for the awkward tension and avoiding jon, sometimes it better that way. It's not like she banned him from the party…the party she planned alone. She might not be there all the time and needs to rethink the show but she seems more there for the kids than jon.

I think it is TERRIBILE they way Kate is being portrayed. Her "family" who she has not spoken too,totally took money from those mags and said horrible things about her. I am the mother of twins and that was hard and stressful,can you imagine with 8 kids?

JOn acted terrible and Kate gets blamed and we all love it,total sexism. I have never written anything,but it is just so sad how they are being treated.

I bet Jon and Kate stopped being a married couple a while ago. I think it's pretty obvious that every event the family does on each episode is a planned, possibly staged event specifically for the show. I dont know…I know Kate is a controlling biotch to Jon, but I hate how resentful he seems of his entire life. Of course you didn't sign up for 8 kids, but ya did sign up for a tv show, and the media is JUST NOW finally starting to pry deeper into your lives and the paps are now following you. What did you expect? And is it REALLY that big of deal to be photographed while your out and about Jon? Well, I suppose it is when you're trying to spend time with your other women.
I wish them the best of luck, but I dont see things working out for them. Jon has completed checked out and I dont think he'll ever be happy as along as they continue on like that.
I watched the show and to me it seems as if Jon has already checked out of the relationship. I don't know if he cheated or not but Kate treats him like he is one of the children. At the party, they looked like they hated each other and when she did speak to him all she did was boss him around. Everything is about her. When she has to actually be at home and take care of the kids by herself she is constantly bitching. Jon quit his job so he could stay home with the kids while she does her book tour and you dont see him throwing a fit when he is home alone with them. It is obvious she is a SUPER control freak who is never gonna be satisfied with anything. Its a no win situation for Jon. He said it himself- He is only there for the kids! Not her psycho ass!
All reality TV is fake. I remember being all into The Apprentice the first season only to later find out most of the challenges were rigged. It became obvious that J&K was fake when they started to go on all the trips and get the personal freebies. I believe the story about the caroling. Kate used to always have a fit about the kids getting their clothes dirty because of the amount of time it took her to get stains out. In that ep is was revealed that someone else did their laundry! I stopped watching a season or two ago, but was going to tune in yesterday. However, I forgot.
Oh, so Julie is Jodi's sister? So then you can guarantee its all a crock of shit. They obviously have some kind of vendetta against Kate. Notice how this Julie chick doesn't even mention Jon despite the fact that he has been involved in the show since day one. And this Julie chick isn't even really a part of their family, what does she even know. What a disgusting bunch of people.

It's true: money changes people. If you watch them in the beginning they acted and looked like a functioning family. Within a few short years they were destroyed.
Watching the new episode last night was extremly painful to watch. It wont last past this season. It wasnt entertaining. It was an embaressment for them. And those poor kids. I feel so bad for them, they are thrown into this whole mess by that stupid bitch. Its quite sick.
The real issue to me is that as a culture, we spend way too much of our time sitting our rapidly fattening asses on the couch to watch crap like the show in question, which I for one have never seen.
In general, TV is just a huge waste of time and the jokes on us for making it such a huge part of our lives.
Can you imagine trying to financially support 8 kids?! At least TLC is supporting that family and not taxpayers' $$$$$ like Ocotmom.

I think the real problem is the sister-in-law who is selling them out. How very un-classy of her. Who cares if they used a show to make money? They get to be with their children and have things for them that they would otherwise not be able to have. Every one should chill out and just take it for what it is, a television show.

Watched it, loved it. After reading Jon's own comments in People last week, I'm not so much his fan anymore. He's as big a child as the other 8. Crying about being a father and not having any alone time and about having to grow up. Wah. And then going out and buying that 350Z without even telling his wife. Couldn't get a family car–screams mid-life crisis if I've ever seen one. Kate's out providing for the family–if any of you have watched it's been pretty noticeable that Jon's never really held down any kind of a real job–and this is what he does. My question–who's with the kids when he's out a 2am? As for Jodi, I wouldn't trust her any further than I could throw her. We all know there are at least 2 sides to every story. It's one thing to complain, but she's just gone on and on and on about it. Get over it already.

Of course I watched the show. I love this show. Yes, Kate is a bitch and is finally getting what she had coming for so long now. I believe her tears are real but she did it to herself.
John spoke more in this episode than he did in all of the others combined. He is only human and I do not know of many men who would not have stepped out for a little relief.
Kate was only with the kids for a weekend and it was making her nuts. Imagine doing it all of the time. She could not last without blowing a gasket!!!

Last night's premiere should have been called the "Kate Show". What a train wreck she is. What was amusing was that she kept saying how awful it was that the paps kept trailing her. You could tell she loved every moment of the stalking paps. She thinks she some kind of star.

I watch the show all the time, and although I have not met any of them, they seem like completely normal people who are going through an extremely rough time in their marriage. My concerns are mainly for the children, however, I do believe that Kate's continued desire to continue the show has overshadowed her best interests. It seems to me that she and Jon are both sincere when they discuss the hardships and problems, and I hope they can work it out. I would love to continue watching the show and see the children grow up, but I do not think that things will ever truly be better until they are no longer in the public eye and under everyone's scrutiny.
I think that if J&K want out they can get out…U can not tell me that they had not seen how Nick & Jessica's lives changed for better or worse. This sister in law seems like she wants her OWN attention why Blog about something you dont watch and want nothing to do with…hmmmmmm

Of course some things are staged its a reality show! And they have talked openly on the show that they receive a lot of free things because of their show. What is this sister's problem? Whether it's fake or not I still love the show.I've been watching since the very 1st show and haven't missed an episode since.I love Jon and Kate and of course the kids.I think it's horrible what they're going through and I think people need to just leave them alone so they can work their issues out.I will definatly not stop watching the show.

I did watch last night and its so different now…it was obvious that they were doing everything for the cameras. I really dont think that Kates sister in law has to make this request, I think that the show will fail on its own. Its kinda like at first" yea its all planned but whats the harm in it?" I think the cameras should follow Jon out for a night of beers and tailpipe. It was funny last night how he rolled up in his new white sports car, late for the party, with his shades on. I am saddened by what is all happening. I used to watch that show to escape my day and now it is all depressing and controversial. I still support their family, mostly the children, and I hope things turn around for them. I think Kate should have pulled out of the show as soon as her marriage began to go on the rocks! I think the damage has been done and she has chosen fame over her husband.
I did watch the premier last night and it saddened me to see this family struggling. It doesn't matter that the show may be staged, the fact remains that it has taken it's toll on their marriage. Honestly if someone wanted to pay me just to watch my family I would let them, however if it came down to losing my marriage it would be over. It's just not worth it. I really hope that Jon and Kate are in counseling and trying to make this work and that their faith in God and their family is enough to pull them through. It may be because I am very pregnant and emotional, but it truly was heartbreaking to me and make me cry. You can't fake emotions like that, and I really think that kate broke down. What ever the reasons behind it, fake show or not, they have issues that need privacy to work through. It's sad though that they are patially to blame for the no privacy in their lives.

Now this women Kate (If that's even her real name) shocks the hell out of me. She is F-A-K-E, how can you want the BEST for your family, when your husband is clearly saying I DO NOT WANT TO DO THIS SHOW ANYMORE, and she continues to think of ONLY herself, and do it. I think this is the blog from "Aunt Jodi's" (Kate's sister) sister, so she's not even closely related to them- & I doubt she's even MET them. So how she's getting all these details is sketchy- as I'm sure Jodi had to sign some sort of confidentiality agreement for being on the show. I'm doubtful to believe much of what is said.
Why this lady is going on about them not paying for things is beyond me, of course they don't- they've said so on the show.
The other thing that pisses me off about this lady is how does she expect J&K to pay for 8 children without this show. She was a nurse & he some sort of techy thing. They wouldn't be able to support their kids if they hadn't have done it- then she'd probably have a blog about how horrible they are for not doing more for their family.
I love this family- I wish all the best for them. Kate seems to have softened this year, and she admitted to being hard on Jon on last night's episode. He looks miserable & I'm starting to believe it's from all the gossip about him & NOT from Kate. Hopefully they manage to deal with their issues & get past them.

We are all aware that reality TV, is never really REALITY. Im just sad that those poor little munchkins are having to live their lives watching as fame, and fortune slowly tear their family apart.

I have been watching this show since the beginning and there are OH SO MANY REASONS I have problems with the sister-in-law Jodi.
1. For someone who claims over and over that "family should come first" she seems very comfortable airing her own family's dirty laundry.

She created this blog a LONG time ago after a family feud when Kate refused to let TLC compensate Jodi for the times when she Babysat the kids. She obviously did not have a problem with the show then, and if what they are saying is TRUE, and kate and John have been seperated for a while, then why wait until the media is against them (which happens to every public figure at some point in time) to jump on the bandwagon?

I love this show, and part of me really hopes it's not fake. Honestly, her bitchness would come through either way. Although part of me hopes that it will go on forever, the rational side of me wants this to be the last season for the sake of the children. Jon and Kate haven't seemed to be "together" for a while. The family needs to deal with whatever is going on without cameras rolling. It should be about the children…not money…not fame…only the family!

In putting their family on TLC and making a brand out of their family, J&K+8 are INVITING peoples judgements on their every move as parents and as a couple. They are inviting the papparazzi to snoop into their private lives because they put their private lives on television and in books. As soon as they take their family off television people WILL leave them alone to work out whatever lives they will have once this show is done.

On the show Kate talks about her brother kevin being the only boy in her family and kevin is married to Jodi so i dont know who this "julie" woman is but it sounds like a phony to me. And the fact that the tabloids are turning this around on kate is horrible. when they say she pushed him to its makes me so mad. if he was having trouble dealing with her he should of seeked counseling not some slutty college age girlfriend. He cheated. He ruined their relationship. Its his fault.

If you were really rooting for the family rather than enjoying entertainment you wouldn't be so gung ho. The difference between JK8 and the Hills is that there are children involved who have no idea what a normal life is.
I think these people started the show with good intentions, I really do. But you can tell how much the show has changed, and how jaded Jon and Kate have become because of it. It used to be a show following a family of 10 in their daily life, but now the show has become their life. That's where it went wrong. Jon and Kate have said they did the show so they could afford to send the kids to college, but I sure hope they haven't ruined the kids' lives in the process.
watched it, and will continue to watch it until the show gets canceled. i never heard anything negative about the show until all the new drama, so i am going to continue to watch a show that i have loved for years, and you cant compare it to the hills spencer and heidi were set up together for the show where as jon and kate made a committment to one another before they ever knew anything would happen and chose to have kids together because they love one another
So they have people reading these blogs for opinions? Here's mine. Anyone who's watched more than one reality show knows they're all fake, and scripted toward whatever creates the most buzz. What clearly comes through as not fake is Kate's contempt for everyone around her, including her husband and yes, her kids. I am convinced that if she left to do her book tours and whatever, and Jon had the kids, they'd have a better chance at sanity. Kate seems to find them all just…distasteful, and no hurriedly edited show full of kid-hugging or puppy-hugging scenes will change that. Not to mention that I'm still not certain this whole marriage-troubles thing isn't a publicity stunt itself.
What a hater! Jealous of the fact that they will get whatever they want because the show is thier job! Jon was the only one working b/c Kate had to take care of her eight kids…. so um yeah one person can't work and make a living for a family of ten so YES they are a struggling family. Besides, TLC brought up the compensation, NOT JODI - when she saw how Kate reacted to the prospect, she decided to distance herself out of self defense - Kate is pure evil.

I can see certain little things are fake (like selling out with all that product placement, ugh) but I don't believe the whole show is fake =and I don't believe the BS about all these contracts Kate has drawn up for Jon and anyone else. Oh please, shes a germaphobe and a little out there, but contracts to keep a marriage together is really crazy. What would he get out of keeping the marriage together for the show if she doesn't even allegedly share the money with him. Doesn't that sound kind of dumb? I know that they are probably drawing it out for the audience because of course we the fans want to see them work out, but anyone who watched the show last night knows that it looks like its definitely over because he bought a two passenger sports car… umm, yea, I think that might say it all. First of all, I don't think someone with eight children would say "I have to pretend that I play with my kids." If she disliked them, she wouldn't have had them - and gone through what she did to have them all!
Jon and Kate always acknowledge the fact that their trips and other items are paid for. I don't see what's wrong with that? If I had 8 children it would be impossible to send them to school.. let alone take them on trips and enrich their childhood the way they can with the show. The show gives the family awesome opportunities, there's nothing wrong with them these taking advantage of the opportunities.
And the publicity was not brought on by the family. They are on a show on TLC based off the idea of documenting their children's lives. Why would they expect the paparazzi to be following them? They don't view themselves as celebrities. If people don't like them, ignore them. You're only giving them more attention anyway.
i love this show and i dont think that they organize everything. it looks all real to me.the tension and akwardness seems all real and not pretend. i love this show and i will continue watching it
Sounds like the sister in law as a case of the green eyed monster. Everyone can say what they want to about Kate, I think she is a good parent. I understand wanting the best for your kids, and I do understand working to provide the best for her kids. I really believe Kate nor Jon understood how big this show was going to become. Now that they know I am sure it is hard to deal with at times. However it is kind of hard to feel sorry for them seeing how some people do not have jobs, they are doing pretty well. I didn't see Jon having a hard time being Jon and Kate plus 8 pulling up in the hot little sports car that he did. I think the "Truth " he cheated and got caught and that is what he is pissed about, Kate I am not sure she cheated but is she so wrong for waiting to give her family everything she can, even now looking in the mirror knowing she maybe a single parent. oh boohoo Kate was hard on Jon, well seems to me Jon should have let his nuts drop a few years ago instead of crying about it now. I think Jon wants to get away from the kids too, trust me he is only doing as little as possible. Seriously, I cannot believe Jon and Kate's "family" members. They sure don't act like family, that's for sure. I would never say stuff about ANY of my family, even if we weren't on the best terms. I don't believe any of what Kate's sister-in-law says. She is just trying to get her 15 minutes. If you are a loyal follower of the show, I think it's very clear how much Kate loves her children. I love this show because I think the kids are cute and fun to watch. Who cares if they are making money?? They did the show because they originally did not have enough money to afford 8 kids, but now they do thanks to the show. I definitely don't watch it because I feel bad for a struggling family, I am glad that they have gotten the opportunity to do this show so those poor kids can go to college and live a nice life! Its not taking any money out of my pocket! Who cares if some of the shows are staged, that lady is just jealous that she isn't involved in the fame and fortune.
They didn't say they ever saved up for a lot of things, they always said in episodes that they were given the chance to go here and there. I watch this show every Monday, but from season to season you can see that Kate and Jon are drifting apart, and it is partly Kates fault because she wanted to continue one with the show where as Jon didn't. He wanted a normal life.
