Gosselin Sister-In-Law Says Stop Watching!

Yesterday was the premiere of the new season of Jon & Kate Plus Eight. The entire hour was filled with tension, awkwardness, and the complete assurance that this couple is headed towards divorceville fast!
But perhaps this all could have been avoided, if we weren't so enamored with the Gosselin family and the show had never happened. So are the thoughts of Kate Gosselin's sister-in-law, Julie.
Jules took to her blog this weekend to explain how we as an audience should abadon the show, as it was never reality and never will be.
She says:
"Since TLC is airing the old episodes, I thought I shed some light on how the show works. We've discussed this before, but it's buried somewhere in the archived posts.
"When the show first started, Kate made a wishlist of things that she wanted, and that became the theme of each episode–the carpet, twin's room, bunk beds, cow, hairplugs, teeth whitening, trips, etc. EVERYTHING that you see them do or buy is completely paid for out of the budget for the show or traded for free advertising. Kate went on and on about saving up for special days, you saw her paying for things, she talked about budgeting, etc. It is all for the appearance that they are a struggling family with 8 children. They needed to be relatable. They didn't pay for any of it.
"The episodes are also staged. Here's how it works…there is a staff of people reading these blogs and they base the shows around what people are talking about. I haven't watched many episodes, but I do know some of the behind the scenes events.
"The Christmas episode from 2007. Producers told Kate that the viewers wanted to see her show appreciation to their helpers. They told her what the episode was going to be. I think they baked cookies and then went caroling (of course this was probably one of their many 'traditions"–those are all fake too). Kate threw a fit. She didn't want to do it, but she did…because they were trying to pacify the viewers.
"Another example is the 'Games Gosselins Play' (I think that might have been the same episode as their 'mission statement'). I actually did watch this one. This was around the time that I started reading discussion boards and finding out that there were many people opposed to the show. It was so obvious that the mission statement was addressing all of the concerns that I had been reading online. The game time was just ridiculous. After the episode, I called Jodi and said, 'what was that?.' She hadn't watched it, so I explained that it came across so fake (at least to me). Jodi was with Kate when she got "the call" about the theme for that episode. Kate said something like, 'so now I have to pretend that I play with my kids.' They also wanted her to pay special attention to the boys.
"Don't believe everything you see. The children are also being prompted to say or do certain things. They signed their lives away to TLC and they will continue to spin the show to keep the viewer's interest. I don't believe this show will go away until the viewers decide that they don't want to be played anymore.
"Of course, you've all figured out that they are showing Kate cook/bake to promote her upcoming cookbook. The show has now turned into a show about a family with a reality show–move to a mansion, cross-over shows, book tour, talk shows…
"I've only watch a handful of episodes. I haven't even seen all of the episodes that Jodi has been in. I made a personal decision long ago to do what I can to give those children the privacy and respect that they deserve. I refuse to watch and participate in something that I feel so strongly against.
"Please don't watch on Monday. You're not going to learn anything new by watching. They will only show what they think people want to see and it isn't real anyway. They will probably drag this out (J&K's 'relationship') for the entire season. They just string the viewers along hoping that they will come back for more."

i watched the show last night. and my heart goes out to the both of them. these are 2 human beings. just because they chose to let TLC document their children growing up does not mean their less than anyone else. it was obvious that the feelings between them were not there. i did like the way Kate handled herself. she did not come off mean, nasty, or snobbish at all. and Jon was very humble and looked to be sorry for what he and his family have been through. he was with one of the twins Alexis ( i think) hugging her and asking her "do you miss me"? and she said yes. and asked him not to go away anymore. it was sad. only thing is that they were addressing how they loved there kids and will make sure they will be taken care of no matter what. that as long as they are happy that is all that matters. but they have left loving and taking care of one another out. the love that they may still have for each other was not even discussed.
i think the kids are great, it's what it is, tv is tv.
lets not take this womans word for gold. after all she went on a blog to post this…so the PUBLIC could read it.

I have watched this show since the very first special and used to love them, now I just want to watch the trainwreck. Everything in that blog seemed to be true to me, I watch the show and you can tell when Kate is being totally fake, she never plays with her kids she is always too busy barking orders or going on book tours. I have children and my house isn't spotless but my kids have never called me by a babysitters name…I stay at home where I belong to take care of my children. I also cant stand to see the kids playing outside unsupervised…well unless you count the camera crew…I have 2 and I never ever let them play outside without me being out there too! Get over yourself Kate and enjoy your children…the boys and the girls, oh Ya and try to make up to your husband…we all know its your fault he strayed…if he leaves you, you will be alone…most likely forever.
Oh hell yeah it's Fake. Do you seriously think a tv network will just follow a family around to see what they do without KNOWING first? They have to keep the audience interested. Do you know ANY Reality show that is REALLY reality? I have a bridge to sell if you do.

Jon Gosselin doesnt love Kate so I hope she gets a divorce and moves on! He rolled his eyes in the episode in Hawaii for vow renewals when Kate said she hope for another 90 years..he laughed smugly and rolled his eyes like OMG HElla NO!!! He said on the new episode he loved his kids and family but never said he loved"Kate". I dont blame her for not wanting him one bit if she moves on. That sister in law is a back stabbing jealous nosey bitch! And how do you instruct little kids. They just behave the way kids do. Kate is the stronger parent hands down. Jon is seeing now how he is going to lose everything. Too bad whiney!!!
I never used to watch the show because I couldn't stand how the parents are always bickering. I'm glad they're finally talking about not getting along. I watched on Monday and really feel for EVERYONE in the Gosselin family. I cannot pass judgement on Kate. She is a REAL PERSON in an unbelievably complicated situation. The tabloids are being so evil I can't stand it.
Re: TLove – I agree. Their entire family sounds like they are just sour grapes that they aren't getting a piece of the pie. I'm sure Kate loves her kids as much as any mother. If I had someone wanting to follow me and my kids around and give me a nice fat paycheck for doing it, I'd say COME ON IN. Kate is a working mom and then some. As for all the "famewhoring" comments, I just have to ask if people wouldn't do the same thing if someone wanted to film their kids. I hope they work it out. Kids really need their parents to stay together, if at all possible.
I don't think it's all fake. And they've always shown Kate cooking and grocery shopping and stuff. For as long as I can remember she's talked about cooking organically- and I've watched the show since before it really took off and she started writing the books. I think this sister-in-law just wants some attention.
I do, however, think that the Gosselin's relationship has been very seriously damaged by being on TV. They should have stopped a few years ago, gotten therapy for Maddie (that child most definitely has issues), and seen a couples' counselor. If they really cared about keeping their family together they'd find a way out of the show, move somewhere else and see a family counselor.

I am a HUGE fan of Jon and Kate plus 8. I've watched it from the very beginning. I'm sure that a lot of it is fake. But it could be all fake and I would still watch it. Why? Because I watch shows that entertain me. If they are all lying through their teeth so be it, I'm entertained.

The "family" members that have come out and made blog and done interviews seem just a little jealous. They look at the attention that Jon and Kate are getting and want to be a part of that, even if it means bad mouthing "family"!
Jon and Kate truly love their kids and the show has allowed them do things with their children that they would not other wise afford to do.
Honestly put yourself in their position. You have twins, then find out that you have 6 more on the way! One day you are approached to do a special then offered to do a series.

No I did not watch the premiere. I quite watching this show about 8 mos. ago because I felt they were using their kids to get material things in life. If family is so important, pull the plug on the show!! All 8 of these children will be in therapy their entire adult lives thanks to mother KHATE.
Anyone who believes that reality TV is real or that those kids aren't working needs to find a desert island to ship themselves off to. Congratulations morons on giving this show huge ratings and giving the Gosselin parents what they want and depriving those children of the normal life they should have. Sheep. BAAAA.
I did watch it, and I don't think it's fake. They producers probably tell the family to take vacations often and do fun stuff make the show interesting, but unless they are reading directly off a script, it can't be "fake".
I also think these stupid relatives of theirs need to stop blabbing, Jon and Kate need to get away from their fame-whoring family members.

Duh. I worked in the industry for a while and let me tell u. It's ALL fake and all about entertainment. The REALITY in "reality tv" is just a term. Means nothing other than it was produced cheaper than them having to hire real actors that would command a paycheck. That's it. EG. World Poker Tour? Do you think people would watch hours of emotionless guys folding over and over until they got a good hand? NOPE. So they write up a storyline like. Joe Kid Poker loses all his chips and then makes a giant comeback and takes down the old poker vet or whatever and then edit it as such and serve it up for your consumption. IT'S ALL FAKE. Sorry to break the news people.
I saw the premiere and what her sister-in-law says does make sense. They were all I'm doing this for my kids. But John looked especially pissed and annoyed to be there. I feel like Kate doesn't want to give up the media attention and everything and John is sick of it and is now bitter towards her.

I despise "reality" TV. I think it's shit TV and I don't watch it. I've never seen this show and I never will bother to waste my time watching it. I can't stand what TV has turned into. I waste $60.00 a month just so networks can show shit like this. WTF?! There is rarely any "real" shows to watch any more. I don't fucking pay for cable so I can watch Joe and Jane Blow live fake-ass "ordinary" lives. I wanna see ordinary losers, I'll go to fucking WalMart. When I turn in my TV, I expect to see hot people doing something interesting, actually ACTING, on a real fucking show written by ACTUAL fucking writers that don't SUCK. WHEN will this horseshit "reality" TV crap just fucking die off already??
BTW….it doesn't take a genius to know "reality" TV is badly scripted crap, worse than any tween soap on Nickelodeon. If reality were all that interesting people would never have needed to watch TV to escape it to begin with. I don't understand why Kate is the only one being blamed for the failing of their relationship. Cause there are two…and decisions are were made together, regardless of how pushy kate was…jon decided to do this as well. YOu can't force someone to sign a release to be paid to be on tv…plus, he didn't seem to mind his new 350z that he pulled up in.
I think both of them are decent people but too much fame, too soon, caught up with them. They went from struggling with 8 young children to moving into a 1.3 million dollar home. Book tours, appearances, charging for autographs, it seems that they were not prepared to handle that. But I do think they are good parents and love their children. The message from the sister-in-law is pretty harsh. But she probably knows much more than we do about their relationship and the show…

I think Jon and KAte are going through a lot right now, with having 8 kids it's never easy to live a normal life. They signed up to do this show and being on a reality TV show can really make like harder on you and your children. I have to say I actually feel sorry for this couple. I don't think either of them is evil, but I do agree Kate is sucking up the limelight. She also is stuck in the "my way is the right way" mindset and isn't considering John's feeling enough. I know she has said she has tried to make him happy, but it seems like she is trying only within her parameters.
John is all about how the show has screwed up his life. Kate is all about- so what it's too late now, we have no jobs we have no choice and BTW I'm happy so suck it up.
I don't think getting rid of the show will magically fix their problems. I think if they didn't have the show, they would be fighting about money, or who needs to stay home with the kids, or that their house is too small and John needs to realize that.
The way they have interacted on previous seasons makes it seem like they actually did love each other. I just think they got much more than they bargained for- first with the kids and then with the show.
I think their marrige could be saved but the TLC people could care less about them- the more drama the better the ratings. Sounds like their family doesn't care either. Hope they get someone in there to wake them up. The children didn't ask for this and they deserve better.
It's so funny how she wants us to stop watching the show yet she doesn't mind being interviewed to be in the spotlight for her 5 mins. IF she was such a saint she wouldn't even be selling out her sister the way she is. She should be ashamed of herself! she admits to taking her husband for granted and being to hard on him and for getting sucked into the good life of being a tv sensation. she sees what she has done and what she has become and feels horrible that she did it. she made a mistake she has admitted it opened her eyes to it and sees that she loved being in the limelight but now hates it bc her mistakes are all over the media. she has to stand there and deal with the consequences of her actions bc she chose this. she signed a contract and she put the show first kids second and husband last and now she has to deal with it and try to make it better but damn why does everyone have to make it that much worse.

ok the same ppl who claim that this show is staged and that kate is money hungry are the same ppl who have reached out to the media [not the other way around like in jnk case] to sell their sides of the story. this so called sister in law and the other jodi are coming out to the media saying how much will you pay me for my side. they are the money hungry whores not kate. she was contacted bc of her situation with twins and then sextuplets. she didnt contact tlc they came to her as they did the dilly sextuplets whose payment for their hour long specials paid for dr bills and college funds. just like thew duggers and their ever growing brood. they have been sought after so if they get paid good they are opening up their lives to everyone to show that yes we have this many children and yes its hard but we are trying.
i in no way think that jon and kate plus 8 is staged i dont for a second believe that this is all lies for the simple fact that you cna see the change in kate and jon throughout the seasons and she admits to it a hundred and ten percent. kate sat and cried admitting that along the way they changed their focus has always been the children but the show became so big and lifted some of the financial pressure so she focused in on that more and jon and her marriage less and slowly they change into 2 different ppl.
i honestly think if they want their marriage to work and to be better they need to get those fuckin cameras out of the house and let them live a normal life.

I don't think it's all fake. I agree there are definitely aspects of the show that are fake, but I believe a lot of it is real. I think I've watched enough reality tv shows to be able to tell, maybe.
