Thank you to everyone that came to the Prop 8 rally in West Hollywood yesterday, including Emmy Rossum, Shanna Moakler, Kathy Griffin, Pete Wentz, Mark Hoppus, Kelly Osbourne, Luke Worrall, Lisa from The Veronicas, Adam Shankman, Eliza Dushku, Jai Rodriguez, Deborah Gibson, Drew Barrymore and Sophia Bush.

Thank you to everyone who lent their voice and time.

Thank you to everyone who believes that we are all the same and that America was founded on the principle that we all deserve equal rights and protections under the law.

Thank you to those who are trying to keep gays and lesbians as second-class citizens, for you are only making us stronger and more passionate in our struggle to stand up, be heard, be counted and be equal.

We must all be vocal.

Too many hate-filled groups came in to California last fall and filled the airwaves with lies.

We must share our stories!

Talk to your friends, neighbors, relatives, colleagues, classmates, churchgoers, strangers. Talk openly, honestly and from your heart.

Speak your truth.

Come out!

Equality is on our side. History is on our side.

Momentum is on our side!

I'm a republican and I support same sex marriage. Obama is a democrat and he does not.

Why call out the republicans only? How ignorant.

Re: BetterFasterStrongerRe: NewYorker4Re: JulesNYC – Hi JulesNYC, BetterFasterStronger and NewYorker4. Last night we marched from 7th Ave and Christopher Street, over and up 6th Ave and across 14th Street to Union Square. It was a fantastic turnout and we wished you were with us. At one point on 14th Street we had 2.5+ blocks of marchers as we made our way through rush hour.
    =
You can learn more about NYC events –Sunday there is a march in Queens– at meny.us and hrc.org. Please call your reps in Albany immediately. There are 24 days of the legislative session remaining and every voice for gay civil marriage needs to be heard.

  7. 107

There's a sucker born every minute. You know those celebrities are only there to be seen, because it's the in thing to do. They don't give a flying f&#k about politics or Prop 8.

  8. 108

March all you want MARIO! The law is the law. Too bad so sad!

  9. 109

I'm from Scandinavia and here gay marriage is legal, gay people are allowed to adopt kids and gay people have the exact same rights as straight people. There are no differences between a straight couple or a gay couple.

I'm trying to understand why and how a group of people can decide that another group of people can not get married. I think that it is so sad and it gives me chills down my spine. We live in 2009, we have got so many things that need our attention things like global warming, the economy and so on. And to spend that time denying people who are in love from getting married is just awful. We should never spend our time doing negative things, we live such a short time on this planet and we should always spend our time doing good stuff and always think about others.

  10. 110

It is really a shame that we as gay people think we have no rights. we must respect the verdict and what the people voted on. They are not ready for Gay Marriage in California. In time maybe but not now. You gays should be protesting the Blacks and Latin people who were the one who went out and voted for this and don't forget you dear Obama who all you homosexuals voted into office also agrees with the court decisions. I don't see you trying to throw him out of office for his believes on this issue.

  11. 111

i love kathy and her mom! too sweet! thanks perez so much and everyone else that went!

  12. 112

    Yay, Maggie :D

  13. 113

    YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Say it loud, brother! SAY IT LOUD!

I'm straight, but an AVID supporter of gay rights. There will be a time when EVERYONE is treated equally– we need to make it happen NOW!!!!!!

  14. 114

Perez, I think that you should be commended for standing up for what you believe in. I think that it is the small minded hate filled people of this country that are holding everyone else back. Everyone should have equal rights !!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. 115

Please support my God-given right to marry my pet chimp!

  16. 116

Last night was great! Go Norma Gay!!

  17. 117

I went last night and it was amazing! As a straight woman, I can't even describe the feeling I got being there and walking with my two gay friends. They weren't going to walk but after seeing all the people, they jumped in the march and walked the rest of the way. It really overwhelming and beautiful.

Also, in case you missed her, Famke Janssen was there as well :)

  18. 118

Look at how happy all you celebrities are! Theres nothing like free publicity

  19. 119

Please go protest in South Central. Why terrorize West Hollywood residents who voted in your favor? It doesn't make any sense.

  20. 120

as a "churchgoer," i was at the rally in seattle. it was a great turnout and i hope that we can learn to separate human equality from personal opinion.

It is soooooooo easy with your IP Address to identify you and locate you and charge you with federal crimes.

You have been warned along with all the other haters.

  26. 126

    pathetic.

  27. 127

GET THE FUCK OVER IT ! The people voted TWICE, do you think rallying up again and trying to destroy a democracy will help that ? NO. There's a million more things more important in the world, like starving children, whose last thought on their mind is whether they think they're fucking gay or not. jesus !

  28. 128

I knew I loved Sophia Bush for a reason!

  29. 129

  37. 137

Re: Dullbert – This event obviously involved celebrities.

  38. 138

YES Perez! I'm so proud of you for using your fame to support us all! I'm a New Yorker and I'm ashamed that NY has not been leading the charge on mowing down this, the most recent type of Prejudice. (Women's rights, Black rights…now Gay rights!) My girlfriend and I drove from NY to MASS last Halloween and got married. As far as I know, it hasn't destroyed any hetero marriages….they do a good enough job of that themselves.
I don't know why people will pick out and obsess over a line from the bible regarding homosexuality, but they don't do the same thing about divorcees, who are blatantly breaking one of the COMMANDMENTS!

  39. 139

Re: MajorTom – UMMMM….ASSHOLE? IT'S 10%, NOT 1%. Y'know there are people you can talk to about being closeted, BTW…

  40. 140

Re: MajorTom – and why are you here if you don't support gays? Arent you afraid you might catch something??? I bet you're father lynched Black people in the 60's didn't he? You must be so proud :)

  41. 141

Re: Loshandra Brown – Speaking of hypocritical! Your attitude would have Blacks continuing to be slaves, you sad, sad cow.

  42. 142

Re: Eh – Your mind is so small.

  45. 145

    Perez you look HOT!!!!!

  46. 146

WE LOVE SOPHIA BUSH!!!! TUT Perez "and Sophia" her name should of been first!!

    Sophia Rules!!!

I DO support the freedom to marry! :)

  47. 147

    Legalize Gay!

  48. 148

    Legalize Gay!!

  49. 149

Perez- While I do support the fact that gays should have the same legal rights as married couples, I do not think that their union should be called marriage. If you look up the term "marriage" in the dictionary it states:
    1. the social institution under which a man and woman establish their decision to live as husband and wife by legal commitments, religious ceremonies, etc.
    2. the state, condition, or relationship of being married; wedlock: a happy marriage.
    3. the legal or religious ceremony that formalizes the decision of a man and woman to live as husband and wife, including the accompanying social festivities: to officiate at a marriage.

It clearly shows that the word marriage is a religious term that is between a man and a woman. You can't change thousands of years of religion! Plus, if it does pass and a gay couple wishes to be married in a church, but the church won't allow it from a religious stand point then they could be sued. How fair is that?

You sit there and pass judgment on everyone that doesn't agree with you, but aren't you being a bit hypercritical when you are doing the same thing that they are doing, making people do something that they don't believe in?

I am not a religious person at all, but I just don't think it is fair to change something that is been this way for thousands of years.

Have the same rights as a married couple, GREAT! But don't call it marriage, call it something else, like a civil union, or gayrriage! ;)

  50. 150

With absolutely no ill-will toward the message- shut the fuck up about this on this blog! I'm so over reading about it on here. I am actually considering not coming to this site any more. That makes me sad because I love my celebrity gossip. At least create a link so that we can skip over this and read the stuff I started coming to this site for. :(

  51. 151

I hope that everyone can one day be able to have a legal marriage. For them to allow gay marraige is BS. Straight people disrespect the santity of a marriage all the time!! Why not allow ones who really will honor marriage the opportunity to do so?

  52. 152

thank you so much for coming out and marching. it was great to see all the straight celebrity support also. the march was AMAZING!!!

  53. 153

Re: Chloe76 – Thanks Chloe76. None of us knew what we were talking about till you plagiarised the dictionary and magically everything makes sense now. *rolls eyes*

  54. 154

perez you rock! I do not live in the US, in fact I live far far away … Peru actually and I believe equality of rights. I value your beliefs and all those acts you're doing to express your opiniones. You're FINE person! Go ahead and make change cuz the world needs to learn to respect people! Persons are equal, they have same rights, same everything no matter they're straight, gay or lesbian.

  55. 155

    Where are the snipers?

  56. 156
