In a profile in the new issue of The New York Times Magazine, Rachel Zoe does the unthinkable - she insults Vogue editrix Anna Wintour.
Oh, yes she did!
Says Zoe, "Anna Wintour is one of my heroes, but they say that I’m more influential. As great as it is, Vogue won’t change a designer’s business. But if an unknown brand is worn by a certain person in a tabloid, it will be the biggest designer within a week. When I worked with Nicole [Richie], there were things that she wore that designers had to remake for another season because there was such demand.’’

Okay, let's get a few things straight. Her claiming she's more influential than Anna Wintour is plain delusional. The woman is an icon because if Vogue (in particular Anna Wintour) gives a nod to a designer - THEN THE CELEBRITIES START NOTICING! They won't even be in the streets this rat shops on if they don't make a buzz. Fashion is about creativity, innovation and trend-setting - and that's what most fashion publications try to celebrate, specifically the tradition Vogue built. Apparently, Rachel Zoe knows jackshit about these things, because if she did, she'll understand the forces behind the fashion industry - and SHE IS NOT ONE OF THEM. She made a name just because she dressed up waif Hollywood mess ups! Well, figures though - she's one herself. Someone should feed her so she gets enough oxygen in her brain to think more clearly. Then again, there's no cure for stupidity. Well, the laughter and mockery emanating right now from the designers and fashion publications themselves should be justice enough.

she is right…. if Nicole Richie or a star like her wears a certain bag… and carries it a lot… EVERYONE will want it AND that statement will carry from designer to designer… knowingly or unknowingly. As much as love Vogue, the fashions on the models seem out of reach, and often times, too expensive. Look at the Tiffany tag bracelet, the Chloe satchel, big sunglasses… these items would have been perceived as unattainable… but now we want these items… we will even accept fakes. So yes, Zoe has had more influence especially in terms of sales. She's good, and without her, really, would we even know or care who Richie is?

I think she's pretty accurate. What Nicole Richie wears gets more notice than some editorial spread in Vogue. Nicole is seen by far more eyes.
