As we mentioned earlier this week, Susan Boyle suffered an “emotional breakdown” after losing Britain’s Got Talent and was checked into The Priory rehab clinic in London on Sunday.
Many are now speaking out about the whole ordeal, including Culture Secretary Andy Burnham, who suggests an investigation should take place to look into the treatment of SuBo during the show.
Burnham says, “I think there should be a process of discussion with the broadcaster concerned. Let’s get the facts. I don’t know enough about whether the duty of care was exercised in this case. We are living in a world where it is not just about what happens on telly on a Saturday night. There is 360 degree scrutiny, 365 days a year. We need to look after people, not just around the camera. Broadcasters should always put people’s welfare first.”
But we have to give credit to Simon Cowell. Turns out the perceived grouch is actually paying for Boyle’s treatment!!!
Wonder if the other judges will chip in?
As for Ofcom, the UK communications independent regulator, they’re already examining the situation, though a full case will not likely happen as they believe the show shouldn’t be responsible for what happens after a programme is over.
What do U think? Should the show and it’s producers be held accountable for SuBo’s breakdown?
