Ashley Greene and Nikki Reed of the Twilight cast have committed to quit smoking to provide better role models for their young fans.
Good!!!!!
According to a source, the girls "know they are role models for little kids… If there are a ton of paparazzi photos of them smoking, that's not a positive image."
The girls are using SmokeStiks to quit, which "look like those fake cigarettes actors use in plays," but contain no smoke or tobacco.
Which begs the question: How much does that actually help?

I used somerthing similar to quit smoking back in November and I have been smoke free ever since. From age 16-23 I was smoking about a half to a whole pack a day. Once I tried this method I stopped completely and I don't miss it!

These days the most compelling thing could help one to quit smoking. It may not be the most effective method out there but if it helps the one who is using that method than I say good luck and keep up the great job!!!
Ok, these ladies are in their 20's therefore unless they are smoking in the movie it shouldn't matter what the hell they do outside of work.
wow i almost died when i saw the headline. I heard everyone in the cast smokes but taylor. i love these two, and i'm happy they're giving up smoking, i hate when people smoke. I don't know how much different its going to look when they're smoking fake cigs or whatever. I hope the rest of the cast stops too.

all good actors smoke. it's a breath control thing. really. most young actors don't realize that's what they are getting out of smoking, but that's it. and once you've been smoking a while, you should be able to control your deep breaths on your own. then if you want you can quit. my brother and i are both actors, and we both smoke. i'm not saying that smoking makes you a good actor, not at all, but look at all of the great actors who smoke or either have in the past. but the smokestiks really do help… when my brother wanted to quit, he chewed on tooth picks, and he said the hand to mouth reflex was exactly the same. now, i'm not saying smoking is good, but by the time it catches up to us, there will be so much medical technology that it will be able to correct any thing bad that has happened.
pretty sure smokesticks are just as bad as real ones for you, just not addictive. :\ im glad they are quitting, but really i could care less if they did! they are grrreat actresses and both are very pretty
Uhh… There are no pics anywhere of Ashley Greene smoking. There are tons of pics of Nikki Reed tho. I don't think Ashley smokes… Her and Taylor Lautner are the only smoke free on the set.

If the whole point to quit smoking is because of little kids seeing you with a cigarette in your hand, then why would you use a smoke stick that looks JUST LIKE a cigarette anyways?

Re: MP – Have to agree there…she's not very big….she did like Thirteen and a couple of other crappy movies, the only reason she was even cast was because of Catherine Hardwicke, if Catherine hadn't been the director, Nikki wouldn't have gotten the job.

ashley is really the only actress i like in the movies. the others i think are disgusting.
Whatever Perez…if the fake cigs help them quit then who cares if they "look real". The important thing is that their taking on this huge challenge to kick the habit.
Re: epic – Oh I don't think smoking sucks, too each their own; I've puffed a few in my day. I just don't like the taste of cigarettes when I'm making out with a guy. I'd never ask someone to quit though, they have to want to do it for themself.

Thank goodness two of them have brains. It's disgusting how many of the Twilight cast members are smokers. The off-set photos of their smoke breaks is so disheartening. These girls are clearly smarter than their castmates. Giving a good role model for young women these days is key. So many are a bad influence.

Good for them, that's really great. honestly, Kristen Stewart should, too. everyone knows she smokes, and she even LOOKS like she smokes, which Ashley and Nikki don't. and smoking has made Kristen's voice horrible, it grates on my nerves. she should really stop.

My prediction (someone may have said this already, but I'm not going to scroll through 145 comments to see): They're "quitting" smoking, using "SmokeStiks"…. meaning, they're actually just going to KEEP smoking, but if anyone catches them doing it in public and calls them on it, they can tell them it's not reeeeeeeeeeally a cigarette.
Hopefully Kristen will take a leaf out of their book and stop getting high.
