While pimping out his reality show to FOX, KISS front man Gene Simmons had some unprompted career advice for American Idol runner up Adam Lambert.
Simmons started out nice by saying that “he’s got a future if he wants to sing in Queen or be on Broadway.”
He went on to say that he is not a rock singer and nothing like Mick Jagger.
He has no idea when to shut up!
Gene continued, “Mostly he should shut up about his sexual preferences. We, America, the rest of the world, really don’t care. I mean, if the story becomes ‘I prefer farm animals to,’ you know, who cares?”
Why do people always jump to farm animals?!
Not only is it tacky but it makes them look ignorant!
Then, the uber modest Simmons offered details on performing with Adam at the Idol finale.
“How was it for him to perform with us, you mean?” he said. “That’s right, I see. Well, you just have to realize who the governor is and who the little puppy is.”

Adam didn't run around talking about his sexual orientation, Gene Simmons. People like Perez Hilton, insisted he "come out" and made a huge issue of whether or not he was gay, even tho he was all about the music.
So finally, once and for all, he said "Fuck it. Yeah. I'm gay." But he did it with Rolling Stone.Which makes Gene Simmons even more jealous. Adam is HUGE. Without make-up, or costumes, he is still huge. He has a voice and he knows how to deliver a song. It's about the music.
Why would he rag on Adam for talking about his sexuality when Adam has specifically said that he doesn't want his sexuality to be in issue. I honestly think the only reason he came out at all (if you can even call it that–when exactly was he IN the closet?) was because of the media shitstorm surrounding it–it's not like needed to come out for people to know he was comfortable being seen kissing men. In this day & age, why should someone who is very clearly comfortable with who they are and is clearly not hiding anything have to make an official statement about his sexual preferences in the first place (and then be given shit for talking about it)? I think it's stupid that in this day & age unless you write a press release you're considered "in the closet."

Ok..I do agree what Gene Simmons said about Adam's sexuality was in poor taste, but he's never been known for being tactful anyway. But to call him a has-been? Let's see: KISS just came off one of their most successful last year, and are still playing dates this year. When Adam Lambert sells out stadiums 35 year from now, and can inspire and attract a whole new generations of fans that weren't even born when the group first broke up, then you can compare him to KISS.

Sorry, but Gene Simmons has a point. Plus, he has a career that has lasted decades so he is obviously doing something right. Lambert is going to eventually turn off his audience if his being gay is all he talks about. Look at what happened to Ellen DeGeneres on her sitcom when she came out. I don't think it was the fact that she came out that the show was canceled…..I think that every episode after that and every storyline after that became a gay issue. Unfortunately for her, the majority of America isn't gay so they lost interest in something to which they could no longer relate. On her talk show her being gay is who she is but she now does it in a way that mainstream America can still relate. But Adam Lambert is going to risk his fans losing interest because he's become just a one-dimensional caricature. Gay or straight there should be more to someone other than their sexuality.

P.S.: If you watched the AI finale with Adam dominating the KISS segment, you can see the look Simmons gave La Lambert when the hunky Idol was hitting those high notes. Gene Simmons is an established musician and a shrewd businessman. He is a multi-millionare and well respected in the music industry. He has connections everywhere and business people listen to him. Yes, he has a huge ego - which he admits to - BUT if Gene Simmons gives advice to someone who has never had a record, never has proven his worth in the music business AT ALL… He would be extremely stupid NOT to listen.
