I’m from Holland and live in Amsterdam; some people call it the gay capital of the world. Here we have same sex marriages legalized since 2001 and people can be whoever the hell they want to be.
Every year we celebrate gay pride in Amsterdam. You should see how everybody: gay, straight, young and old, with different backgrounds and nationalities join in and enjoy themselves! They even broadcast it on the news!
You can learn from our little country!

The Netherlands and the Scandinavian countries (Danmark, Sweden and Norway) always come out in the polls as the happiest nations on earth. These were the first countries (now almost about 20 years ago), to extend equal rights to homosexual partners.

…and countries that haven't embraced homosexuality have also ended up in ruin (or are in ruins). There is no causal connection between acceptance of homosexuality and the ruin of empires last time I checked.
Also, Blacks represent a small fraction of our society and they also get at least "Black History Month." Fathers represent a fraction of our society and they get a whole day dedicated to them, as do secretaries, and other minorities. So what? When they refer to a nation, they refer to the Christians' violent overthrow of the Roman Empire (which happened because the emperor Constantine was converted and then used force to make Christianity official. This is the context of the early New Testament, which was written There is NO OTHER NATION since that has embraced homosexuality in the way he describes. Unless you count east Asian countries which have a third word for gender to describe those who are neither male nor female and they thrive nicely. Scandinavia thrives and has the highest standard of living in the world. Spain has gay marriage and is an amazing place to live. In fact, MOST theologians and historians agree that (inadvertently) the times when homosexuality were the most embraced, were the beginnings of downfalls of the rest of the areas of Rome. I would suspect that some others are victims of their environment and have chosen it after all. So just cite your source and study proving your point.

I don't know about that. Sex and sex addictions are powerful and people will do all kinds of things for it, including risking much more than ridicule. Confirmation of that is: rapists who risk prison or death; and a common example comes to mind: politicians who will risk their careers, financial security, families, reputations and everything they have worked for all their lives to have a stupid affair with someone.
We are all entitled to our own opinions, until they infringe on other people's rights. Last time I checked, "embracing homosexuality" and even dedicating a month to celebrating the LGBT-QI community, didn't hurt anyone. If you don't like it, don't participate. Obama isn't detracting from anyone's health benefits to extend them to federal employee's partners, so there is no reason to be upset. If you don't want to celebrate Pride Month in June because you don't like it, no one is making you. It saddens me that so many people are caught up in their own prejudices, anger and ignorance that they cannot realize that these changes are not harming them in anyway. Also, @Emmie859, just out of curiosity, if this website is so awful, why do you have a username for it? Also, I'm straight, and I've never met a gay person who called for my death… (post 269).
And, just for the record, I'm straight, and I'm celebrating these changes because I think that they are long overdue.

I'm flabergasted everytime I hear someone spew such ignorance. I'm from Canada and gay marriage has been legal here for years, and same sex benefits were law years before that - and the sky hasn't fallen and the last time I checked, I wasn't living in ruins or in a "garbage heap". We can only hope that once these old farts start to die off, their attitudes will die with them.

how. can you possibly know this to be true? dont hate crimes exist for a reason? there's a difference in coming on perez hilton's website and saying "this guy should die" and actually going out and gay bashing or murdering. i cant believe you think straight people dont murder or wish to. half the murders in jail are straight males. you… are crazy.
Emmie859: Kudos to YOU! You hit the nail on the head. Christians, especially Catholics, like to pick and choose their beliefs. I know many Catholic people that think its fine to live with each other before marriage. And because "everyone does it" makes it right. These are the same people that believe there is a pergatory. Yeah, ok……show me that one in the bible. Oh yeah - and I was born and raised Catholic, so I know what I'm talking about. Personally, I don't hate anyone who is gay. My hubby's cousin is gay, and he's a really super nice guy. Would I shove my beliefs down his throat? Absolutely not. But if we got into a discussion about it - that's when it's an open door and I would walk right in and speak the truth. Stand your ground - there are many of us that support you!
