It's here! The first single off Adam Lambert's forthcoming album, On With The Show, which is expected to be released later this summer.
The song is called Want, and it leaves us doing just that - wanting more.
It's a pretty mid-tempo song, definitely leaning more towards pop than rock. We like it, but it lacks the personality that made Glambert such a superstar on American Idol.
Adam sounds great on the song, but it's just not that memorable. Or so we think.

Apparently, this album WILL be released this summer, which we thought was VERY quick. However, we've just learned that the songs on it were recorded in 2007 and 2008, before Lambert was on American Idol.
It's being released by a label other than the one he signed to after he came in 2nd on the show.
Wonder what he thinks about a whole album of old material being released????

I listened to the song three more times. His voice is incredible, and I am going to remember the song. I think it's one of those songs that grows on you, and you keep humming it.

Considering that it is so soon after Idol, this is a really good song. I guess when you don't have to synthesize someone's voice, it speeds up the recording process. I'm sure his album is going to be great, but he will really hit is stride touring for the album…I have a feeling his live performances are going to be freaking amazing. =D

Re: MarieLynn – I *think* I'm with you on this. Maybe lover's lament type stuff, but certainly won't appeal to his true fan base - the ones that actually care. I'd say they need to take the hiss outta the track - makes it sound too "breathy" which isn't his style or image right now.

Hmmm. Perez, are you sure this is for his current RCA album? Because this sounds a lot like the stuff he recorded years ago, before he was on Idol. I am highly skeptical that they already have a single selected. They just started recording for goodness sake! If another record lable plans to release his old stuff, RCA BETTER be filing an injunction PRONTO. They don't want anything to take away from his RCA debut.
Even if this IS from his current album, I highly doubt it is going to be his first single. It sounds a lot like a demo. Adam will want to come out swinging with an up-tempo song to get everyones' attention. While this song is nice, it is not first-single material, and I truly believe Adam is smart and realizes that.

Thanks for the update! I assumed this song isn't his first single as it seems way too early. Is it even legal for another label to release his pre-Idol stuff? I smell an RCA lawsuit. His pre-idol stuff is good, but now that he has great writers and producers behind him, his RCA album is going to be MUCH better. If this other label releases his old stuff first, it could screw things up for him! RCA/AI better do whatever they can to block this.
He hits these notes that make him sound like the pervert old man on Family Guy. Literally his voice sounds like the old man when it kinda breaks. I dunno how to explain it. Dry.
Lyrically this song is *horrible*!!! Really really boring, repetitive and uninspired tired old lyrics. Blech.
Musically its like Oasis, Tesla, and the Beatles got in a car wreck and this is what it sounded like.
His vocals are a little better -read:toned down- from the show, not so screamy, with more mid range, but it still misses. A lot. It's just a basic boring song all around.

Who wrote this? Could it be Ferras? It will sell, especially to the Kris Allen type followers. It is very middle of the road, with a soft electronic beginning, a middle expressing the 'love/want' theme, and a usual Adam Lambert style ending, with his big voice, though his vocals in this piece are not magnified to their fullest.*** Listen to it a few times. It will grow on you, and assuredly will on the public.
OK, so the song is and old recording prior to Idol and the song is different from what we have heard from Adam during his Idol days but isn't that just typical of Adam? He has a great voice and this just proves that he can sing anything. I agree with the OP that he sounds a little George Michael-ish. I am sure that he will have a range of songs when he does release his album and it will not disappoint his fans.

I really hope he does become the new front man for Queen. I called that one before the season finale of Idol too… I said how he could absolutely be the next Freddie Mercury.. and now look…it's a great possibility. Love him to death 
Adam is a star. Some people have that certain "It" quality and some people just don't and he is one of the few that does. I am so looking forward to his other stuff. He's such a talented and gifted person.
This song kind of reminds me of "Save Me" by "Queen" with the guitar riff sounding like "Without You" by "Motley Crue" and as for the vocals, it's like a combination of Bruce Dickenson, Michael Sweet, and Freddie Mercury with a hint of Dennis DeYoung. Adam is very talented. He has the world talking for sure and as I stated previously Perez, I am looking forward to his future material.

I love Glambert, but this does sound like old stuff. He's grown so much, and I expect more with the people he's currently working with. I want more rockin stuff, but I like it. Not first single. He's Adam Lambert!!! His first single needs !!!.
On further listen, the song isn't bad. It has promise and Adam sounds great. But it needs some work (and more lyrics ha!) With the caliber of producers/songwriters he's working with, his first single will be better. But this is a nice elementary touch.
