Maybe I’m an idealist, or an optimist, or whatever other term that is seemingly naïve that you would like to throw at me, but I’m purely boggled. I was raised to not call other individuals names and to not judge people without fully knowing them, am I the only one? I can’t believe some of these posts that I am reading. To be perfectly honest, I am not familiar with Taylor Swift. I’ve never listened to her music or read any interviews with her, however I can see she is a beautiful girl physically. But if I thought the opposite, there is no way I would ever feel that I have the right to make fun of her, curse her name, call her untalented or, frankly, say anything negative about her in general. Calling other people ugly doesn’t make me feel more beautiful, it makes me feel uglier. Calling someone else untalented or a foul name doesn’t make me any more cool or interesting, in fact I feel it does the opposite.
I would never want someone in my life that talks so negatively about other people, especially people they don’t know. I understand that everyone has their own opinion, and I respect that, but the blatent cruelty that is being shown in some of these responses is unparalleled to anything I’ve ever seen before. I read that some of you have met her and thought she is rude. I can understand your frustration, but it is impossible to judge someone while only knowing them for 15 minutes. People have off days, off moments, and sometimes clashing personalities from your own, however that doesn’t reflect their overall identity. People are ever changing and learning new things daily. Taylor Swift is a teenager and these are the years she is changing the most. I’m only 21 years old yet I can look back on the past few years of my life and rationalize that I’m a completely different person.
My biggest question is, what ever happened to giving people the benefit of the doubt? Furthermore, what good is it going to do to call people names and start fights for no reason? I’m pleading at this point. I’m pleading for the language to stop. I’m pleading for people to stop judging others and to open their eyes to the bigger picture. If you’re lucky, you have 80 years on this Earth. Why in the world would you waste any of your time worrying about how other people look, or how they sing, walk, dress, dance, what they do for a living, etc? (I’m keeping politics out of this). So why waste your time typing profanities against a teenage country singer, or even Perez himself?
Why does putting other people down make you feel good? Maybe I’m the only one, but I feel good when I volunteer my time tutoring my friends, or work at the humane society. I feel good when I’m teaching my fiance’s niece how to ride a bike and recommending a new book to someone else. I feel good when I’m playing the guitar, cooking for my parents, hiking up a mountain, working out or writing a new poem. I am not stimulated or elated by the idea of typing negative comments towards others. That’s not what I do to make myself feel better. But then again, maybe I’m just an idealist.

That is her craft… her job. While I don't think it's fair to judge her on her looks, etc… the one thing I can and should judge her on is her talent/music.
